Today's my first day at school

Butterflies eat at my belly

I'm nervous about this day

What if no one likes me?

what if i get picked at

get gum put in my hair

what if i get sent to time out?

what if I get the chair?

what if i make no friends

oh how sad mother will be

how sad i would be

i would just me, lonely

i hold my breath and gather my strength, standing tall

mother taught me to be brave,

so brave i will be

The butterflies are gone

mother waves goodbye to me

as she dropped me off at the front

i waved back at her,

smiling with my tooth gap

she drove away from my sight

i had no more doubt in my mind

i took my first steps forward into a new place

even though i'm still scared, I know it will be great
