Homecoming is supposed to be

A special celebration.

For the students, for the teachers, for the school in general.

So why is it scary?

Homecomings are supposed to be

Fun and happy.

Not dry and full of fear;

With anyone barley showing up.

Yes, there was fear this homecoming.

At school, there was this rumor,

I won't say what,

Cause it still hurts me a lot.

It was good beyond that.

Parade I was miss band.

Coronation I was miss band.

On the field I was in band playing, having fun.

Homecoming is based on popularity.

Big junk and what not.

Miss junior I ran for.

I did not win because i had none of that.

Another girl won.

She was in my grade, a Junior,

she was very pretty and I was not.

She won by a landslide, a chance I didn't stand.

It was originally three that ran.

One joined in late,

She won second place.

I joined ASAP, and won none.

Next year I'll go for something else,

Even though I know I won't win.

I'll still run for the heck of it;

Even if I'm not pretty.

So at homecoming I'll live in fear.

At homecoming I'll live in sadness.

At homecoming I'll live afraid.

At homecoming I'll be the best me and try.
