Chapter Three: What a Bloody Mess!

Just when I thought for once I could run through the forest, wind whipping through my hair in those movies I've always heard about.

I hoisted myself up, I look fine. I hope.  A stinging pain had materialized in my palms and fingers. I looked at them and winced. They were covered in crimson-red blood. So much for being 'fine.'

I continued my trek through the dark forest and followed a little candlelight, guiding me through the bushes, until I had finally arrived back at the cabin.

It was a charming little abode made of oak wood and a bonnet style roof. The cabin has beautiful tulips and roses in front of it, which was Erulissë's idea. We built the cabin ourselves, using blood, sweat, and a lot of tears. Though I don't like to admit it, they were mostly mine. The house had small holes going through the exterior due to the millions of woodpeckers that loved to completely obliterate our home.

Erulissë was picking wild roses. I accidentally crunched on some leaves and her head snapped up.

"Oh my gosh, Brielle! What happened? You were gone for so long, and Celairdir was so worried!"

She opens the door, as I see Celairdir putting on his boots. "Whoa, where are you going at this time?" I question him, curious. It was dangerous to go out at night, more dangerous than the day with all the Faerie guards policing around.

"I was going out to look for you, you've been gone all day!" Celairdir unbuckled his boots and removed his coat. He walked back to his room, seemingly annoyed. Erulissë tells me to sit for a bit and recover, probably because she didn't want me to stain the new rugs she weaved, with my blood, and a little later, Celairdir comes out of his room with a small box.

He doesn't say anything, as he cleans off the blood not-so-gently.

"How stupid can you actually be to get hurt like that? What if a Faerie found you and then kept you as a slave. Or worse, executed you right there and then in the square?" Celairdir continued to clean off the blood, going on and on about how irresponsible I am and that he doesn't even know why I went out to the square, and not him.

By the time he's done, The sky had turned into a shade of ink-black. Walking to my room and plopping down on my bed, I couldn't stop thinking about how everything would be so different if we hadn't lost the war. So much for the Princess of Elves.

I slept on my bed mat, falling asleep instantly.

I ran through the forest, my breath catching in my throat. Everything was slowing down. My breath couldn't fill my lungs. The forest was slowly turning black with stars clouding my vision. I dropped to the floor, gasping like a fish out of the water as everything faded away.
