Chapter Five: How to Get Kidnapped

Over and under I thought as I wrapped the bandage around my leg, wincing as the pain burns as though my leg was being branded by a hot iron.

The blood was seeping through the bandage, but it would hold for now.

Let's go see what else is in the mystery bag. I put my hand inside the small velvet drawstring bag and was amazed at how big it was on the inside.

Well, That's enough for today. I thought as I looked up at the sky. How beautiful the stars are! I was not able to see many because of all the trees at the cabin, but out here in this clearing, it's like I'm in space!

I slowly laid down, my heavy head propped on a tree as my eyelids began to droop. Finally, I sighed, time to sleep.

I was back on the battlefield, bleeding out. Faerie warrior charging towards me. I emitted a golden glow, a force strong enough to knock them back. Exhausted, I kept going. This isn't the time to fall asleep, Brielle! I pushed through, as they fell back, the Elves charged the fallen Faeries. I saw Lainathiel wave for me to run, I ran with another warrior, Erulissë.

We waited and waited but Lainathiel never came. We found a wounded elve laying for dead in the forest, he ended up joining us. We all lived together in a cabin until one night, two men came barging in, they killed me. They cut my throat.

I woke up to a scream, I heard it echo before I realized it was me. Oh, shoot.

I heard it echo over and over through the large forest, hoping nobody would hear. I wasn't in tip-top shape to start another war.

The sun was rising. And I had to go.

I grabbed the bag and went on a hike. Hopefully, I could find a squirrel or a deer to eat.

I heard a rustling in the forest behind me- but nobody was there, I let out a sigh of relief and slowly hunted, my elven ears listening for any little mammals I could eat.

I heard a deafening screech, it sounded like nails on a chalkboard, but a million times worse. I instinctively clamped my hands over my ears. I looked up to see a bird cawing to its other bird counterparts.

Man, how hard is it to find some decent game around here?

I sensed something coming from behind me as I grabbed my dagger from my belt. Nobody was there. As I turned back, I felt something cool against my throat.

"Look what I found, what's a little princess like you doing in these woods?" He spat at me. I trembled in fear as I slowly looked up at him. He had brown stubble over his chin and brown eyes. His loose black hair was messy, from hunting I presume. His eyes were steely and grim as he stared back at me.

"Let me go" I fumed, trying to act strong. It's better if he doesn't see me looking weak.

"Say another thing" He dared, "And I promise you'll never see the light of day again."

I was beyond belief at what had happened.

"Your name" He huffed, seemingly annoyed, as he lowered the chilling knife from my throat.

"Alvina," I said defiantly.

"Stop joking with me, tell me your name or so help me I will-"

"Alvina Nyx." I challenged him.

"Okay then, Alvina Nyx. What're you doing in my part of the woods?" He sneered at me.

I stayed silent for the rest of the time. My foot snagged on a stone as I fell forward, in result bashing my knee on the pointy hard stone.

Could this day get any better? I thought as my leg suddenly cramped up from the excruciating pain.

I couldn't walk any further. Tears welled up in my eyes as I bit my lip. I'm not crying in front of him. Not now, not ever.

"What's the holdup?" He thundered at me.

"You're the holdup! You think you can just waltz right in here and kidnap me. Like hello, last time I checked, it's not proper manners to kidnap people! Who raised you?"

"The King of Stoynmonte, for your information," He seethed, his voice breathy.

Now I knew for sure, I was in big trouble.
