Chapter Eight: We Meet... Again
I looked at the steaming hot plate sitting in front of me. My mouth watered as I licked my lips. We were never able to have such delicacies back at the cabin.
"Hello? You there?" Osryana waved a hand in front of my face.
"Yeah," I mumbled as I picked up a sterling silver fork and began digging into the bun. As I brought the fork to my mouth, I felt the heat radiate from it. I put in my mouth as I gasped.
It was burning hot. I fanned my face with my hands and started breathing heavily. My tongue felt like it was burnt. I let out a squeal.
Osryana burst out laughing, her eyes watering as she laughed.
My face turned red in embarrassment as I heard a deep voice from behind me, "What's she doing here?" he demanded as I turned around. It was Zynero. I felt my heart stop in my chest. Osryana's laughed stopped as soon as she had started.
I slammed the fork down as I walked out of the dinner hall, trying to look for the familiar yellow room, but the hallways kept twisting and turning. I was lost.
I heard some steps down the hallway as I looked up to see who it was. Maybe they could help direct me.
I looked up to see a familiar girl with long black hair. I smiled as she looked at me over the stack of objects in her arms. She froze and in an instant, the objects fell to the floor in a clatter.
Her mouth gaped as she stuttered, "A-Alvina? What are you doing here?"
I bent down to help retrieve the fallen objects. "Long story" I muttered, as Aeliana picked up the objects and continued to walk down the hallway.
"Wait!" I called after her. My voice echoing harshly in the long stone corridor, I flinched. "Can you help me, I-i'm lost."
Aeliana turned on her heel and smiled, "Sure." she said as she directed me up a beautiful cobble stairwell with torches and big windows overlooking the forest.
After what felt like an eternity walking, we finally reached a beautiful hallway. It had shiny brass candelabras lining the corridor.
We walked down until we reached a group of doors across from each other. Trying a couple, I finally opened the fifth one to see that it was in fact, the mysterious yellow room from before.
"Thanks," I muttered as she gave me a parting glance and closed the door.
I creaked over to the bed and plopped down on the amazing mattress.
I sat there for a while, longingly staring at the balcony.
Slowly, I stood up and made my way to the balcony. Opening the door, inhaling the sweet scent of nature, I had a plan.
I slung my bag over my back and I closed the balcony door behind me. The wind whipping at my hair, I took a deep breath and a leap of faith.
