Chapter Ten - Pushing The Boundaries
Austin leant against the hood of his car with his hands in his pockets as he nervously nibbled on his bottom lip. He was anxious. He didn't know how tonight would go. He didn't even know how to act. How was he suppose to treat her tonight? Obviously, he was going to be a gentleman but he didn't know if he should treat Cadence as his girlfriend or not. Was he suppose to touch her more or less? How often did he get to kiss her tonight?
If Cadence was his girlfriend, Austin wouldn't have to ask any of these questions. He'd kiss her and touch her and hold her hand all he wanted. But now, he wasn't sure where her boundaries were. In the bedroom, there were no boundaries. But he didn't know the procedures in going on a date with a girl he was only exclusively fooling around with. If he held her hand, would she reject him? Was that too far into couple territory?
Luckily, Cadence saved him from that frustrating train of thought as she stepped out of the front entrance of her apartment building. Austin looked up from staring at his feet and felt his heart swell in his chest and breath hitch in his throat. She was so beautiful. Everything about her was stunning. Part of him wanted to look around and make sure she wasn't approaching someone else, who was much more suited to handle a woman as powerful as Cadence.
"Good evening Professor." Cadence smiled as she strutted towards the man waiting for her by his car.
Cadence was dressed in an incredibly tight, crushed velvet, black dress that stopped high on her thighs and dipped low into her cleavage. Her shoulders were bare but a thick, fuzzy, black scarf hung around her and rested at the pits of her elbows. She accessorized with a thick choker made of diamonds, plenty of rings, hoop earrings, silver bracelets, and heels that were laced a couple inches up her ankles. Not to mention, her hair was straighter and flatter than he had ever seen before and it looked amazing.
Cadence stepped in front of Austin, who stared wide eyed and mouth gape at her. She placed her finger under his chin to shut his mouth. "I said hi, Professor."
"Hi.." Austin breathed as he stared into her sparkling brown eyes. "You look beautiful."
Cadence flashed a pearly smile at his compliment and let her hand fall to his suit jacket. She slide her fingers over the soft fabric and then slipped her hand past the jacket to rub her hand over his chest a bit more intimately. She liked Austin in a full suit. The suit jacket broadened out his shoulders. He was always in suit pants and fancy shoes but didn't get too overly formal for his classes. But now, he looked sleek and professional. Like a hot CEO.
"And you look bloody handsome, Professor." Cadence retracted her hand, which saddened him a bit. He liked when she was touching him. It made him all fluttery and excited. "Shall we go?"
"Yeah." Austin pushed off the hood of his car.
He started towards the passenger side and opened the door, taking Cadence's hand to help her into the car. She thanked him as she slid in and watched as he closed the door and jogged around to the other side. Cadence couldn't deny how excited she was to go on a date with Austin. They had kept their relationship very informal but tonight, they were going full formal. She was excited to see what Austin was like in a date scenario.
"Are we allowed to be doing this?" Austin asked as they started driving down the street, the gps on his phone directing him towards the location Cadence had picked out.
"What do you mean?" Cadence batted her eyelashes at Austin, watching the street lights reveal his frown every few seconds.
"Well.. Since we're just fooling around, I thought dates were out of the question." Austin awkwardly pointed out.
Cadence looked out her window, unable to answer that. She felt like they should be out of the question. She kept refusing him the first time he asked, which had made it an unspoken rule that they were off the table. But Cadence was in a good mood and she wanted to spend time with Austin. And not just in his or her bedroom. She wanted to go out and laugh with him and kiss him in public. And as much as she wished it was possible, there was no way around calling that a date.
"I've decided otherwise." Cadence confidently declared.
"Really?" Austin glanced at Cadence as he suddenly got all happy and excited. "We can go on dates? But if we're going on dates, that means we're dating. And people who are dating are a couple, which makes you my girlfriend. Does that mean this counts as our first official date? So in a month or a year, this counts as our anniversary?"
Cadence quickly slapped her hand over Austin's mouth as her heart hammered against her chest. Austin sat stiff in the drivers seat, his eyes peeking at Cadence and spotting a heated glare. She obviously didn't like that. He didn't mean to ramble. He simply got too excited. Being able to date Cadence and call her his girlfriend, for real, felt like a fantasy to him. He liked her so much, he couldn't help it. He was dying to call her his girlfriend.
"That's e-bloody-nough out of you." Cadence scowled. "You go on like that again and I'll make sure to punish you for being so naughty. D'you understand?"
Cadence retracted her hand and watched Austin's Adam's Apple bob as he nervously gulped. He simply nodded, his fingers squirming over his steering wheel. Austin had never been punished before. It made sense that he could be punished, considering Cadence talked about rewarding him. He couldn't imagine what a punishment would be like if his rewards were as mind blowing as they were.
The blood rushing towards his crotch made him internally curse at himself. How did she always do this to him so easily? What was wrong with his hormones? He was like a teenage boy around this woman and it was embarrassing. She had too much power over him but he was addicted to it.
Being this dominant with a man was unfamiliar to Cadence, yet, it came so naturally to her. She didn't even mean to threaten to punish him, it just came out. She was too panicked to think of anything else to say. Even in the silence, Cadence could feel her heart race in her chest. He shouldn't have went on about first dates and anniversaries. She didn't like it. She didn't know why she hated it so much, it just sounded so ridiculous. It sounded dangerous.
When they reached the fancy restaurant in the thick of the city, Austin parked in line for the valet and jogged around his car to help Cadence it. He opened the door and gestured for her hand. She gave it to him and rose to her feet, her eyes meeting Austin's. The darkness in her eyes and her expression made him tense. She was still upset.
All he could think to do was place an apologetic kiss on her knuckles, his eyes never straying from hers. She rewarded him by gently caressing his jaw and bringing him in to kiss his cheek. Austin felt his face flush red as Cadence accepted his silent apology. She smiled softly at him and pet his jaw before stepping on to the curb and heading inside. He felt so uncontrollably submissive towards this woman, which was a foreign feeling that he somehow liked. A lot.
Austin placed his hand on the small of Cadence's back and followed her inside. They spoke to the host about their reservation and she led them to their table on the roof. Since Austin hadn't picked the restaurant or made the reservations, he was pleasantly surprised that Cadence had picked somewhere with a beautiful view of the stars. And she was happy to see that sparkling look in his beautiful hazel eyes.
After Cadence and Austin got comfortable at the table on the roof, she couldn't help but admire how handsome he looked in the moonlight and candles that were sprinkled around the roof. He looked handsome but, knowing how innocent he was, she found him adorable as well. Even as he pushed his glasses up his nose, she melted. Austin was totally caught off guard by the look in her eyes as he caught her staring.
One minute she was looking at him with death in her eyes and the next she almost looked like she was in love.
"Do you want to see some photos from the shoot?" Cadence asked, her eyes glued to his.
"Of course. I've been dying to see them all day." Austin insisted.
Cadence pulled her phone out of her clutch and unlocked it to find her photo gallery. She handed the phone to Austin, who shamelessly held it up in front of his face until his eyes focused on the photo. With blushed cheeks, he lowered the phone to make sure others didn't see. Cadence giggled and reached for his wrist to gently rub her thumb over the bruises as he scrolled through the photos.
"Jesus, Cadence. You're.." Austin shook his head. There was nothing that would describe how incredibly photogenic and stunningly sensual she was. "These are amazing. You're a natural. You're gorgeous. You're fucking beautiful."
"Thank you, Professor." Cadence beamed at his compliments.
Austin marveled at the gorgeous photos of her in the pool in such a small bikini and his mouth fell open when she suddenly appeared in the bedroom. She was posed in fluffy white sheets, her arms across her chest to cover her nipples and legs angled to block other compromising areas. One of her fingers was sexily trapped between her teeth as she smoldered at the camera. Austin had to take a deep breath in and out as he scrolled through the collection of nude photos. She was so sexy, it was unreal.
"Are they Playboy-worthy?" Cadence whispered, her fingers sneaking under the sleeve of his jacket. Her long nails tickled his nerves and made him shiver.
"They're more than Playboy-worthy, Cadence. You should be on the cover! Do you get to be on the cover?" Austin looked up to see Cadence smile and shake her head. "You're a supermodel, Cadence. You're also a really, really good dancer but these... I think you might want to switch careers paths."
Cadence laughed. His adorable rambling and spew of compliments was making her want to kiss him. If only there wasn't a table between them, she'd be in his lap. After a moment, Cadence reaches for her phone and swiped over to the ones she took specifically for him. Austin's eyes widened as his glasses fell down his nose. He made an incoherent noise as he gaped at the lewd photos and Cadence laughed again. She loved his reactions.
"Sexy?" Cadence whispered.
"S-Se.. Very, v-very sexy..." Austin stammered and gulped. How was he with a girl this gorgeous? What did he do to deserve her?
"I'll remember to send them to you after we leave here."
"Please, do."
"My parents plan on buying a whole bunch of copies of the magazine since it's the first one I've ever been in. Akeem made this joke about tearing my pages out so he could sell the magazines to his friends at school. I'm pretty sure he got whooped for that comment." Cadence snickered.
"Your parents are gonna buy Playboy magazines with you in them?" Austin stared in shock.
"What? There are no nudies! Even if there was, they're the humans that made me." Cadence shrugged.
"Even your siblings are going to see these? Aren't they all younger than you?"
"Again, I'm covered one way or the other in every photo, Austin. I'm only fully nude in the ones I'm sending you." Cadence scoffed. It really wasn't a big deal. "Also, let me remind you, I didn't end up like this on my own. I grew up in a house with little boundaries and zero filters."
Austin nodded as he thought about it. He remembered Cadence telling him about how her parents used to drag her to tattoo shops and would leave her in the car when they ran into sex shops. She didn't have very conservative parents and he wouldn't be surprised if all her siblings were like that as well. It was a big contrast to his own upbringing of going to church, Sunday school, and living in a house so clean that it could house hospital patients.
"So, are your parents going to frame one of these and put it with all the other family photos?" Austin laughed.
"Probably." Austin's eyes widened. He was only joking but it didn't really surprise him too much. These parents of hers were very intriguing people.
"Do I get a printout, as well?"
Cadence flashed a shit-eating grin. "Why? These nudes aren't enough? You wanna use them as jerk off material? You wanna cum all over my Playboy photos?"
Austin nervously peeked over his shoulders to look at the other people eating around them. Nobody heard her but it still made him blush. And he couldn't deny the intrigue her words shot straight to his crotch. Cadence, on the other hand, smugly smiled as she watched Austin blush and squirm so innocently.
"I'll give you a couple photo copies if you wanna hide one in the desk drawer in your office." Austin finally met her eyes again, his expression still anxious and full of innocence. "Speaking of.. Did you do as I asked earlier this afternoon, Professor? Did you touch yourself to the thought of me?"
Austin gulped and nodded, his eyes never straying from Cadence's. Her eyes sparkled with pride, along with the lit candles around them that reflected in her brown eyes.
"You're such a good boy, Professor."
Austin leant a bit closer so he could speak quietly. "It's not like I could just get up and walk to my next class. I was- You made me.. hard.."
Cadence moaned as she thought about the innocent Professor jerking off in his office. She was suddenly very jealous that she wasn't there with him. "How dirty, Professor. You jerked off in your office? Don't your colleagues and students visit your office? What if someone walked in on you?"
Austin squirmed in his seat again. "I-I thought about that.."
"And it turned you on, didn't it? You're so dirty that you got turned on thinking about getting caught with your hard cock in your hands.." Cadence purred.
Cadence continued to push and tease just to test where Austin drew the line. He didn't seem uncomfortable yet, besides the occasional glance over his shoulder. But even then, there was a look in his eyes that revealed what he was really thinking. He may be a bit paranoid but it was the thrill of being caught that was turning him on. Cadence was intrigued by this new discovery. Austin was kinkier than he led on. She wouldn't have been surprised if he was okay with being taken right here on this table, in front of everyone.
The thought caused Cadence to slip her foot out of her high heel and lift it to Austin's crouch. Austin's jaw visibly tensed as he nervously squirmed, unable to refuse, of even dislike, her touch. The feeling of Cadence's toes teasing his erection through his pants felt oddly good. Not that he had a foot fetish, he knew that. But he was being secretly touched and something about it was inherently dominant. He liked it.
Especially, with that look she was giving him.
What really had them both thinking was the fact that they were in public and Austin hadn't pulled away yet. There was nothing hiding the fact that Cadence was touching him under the table. There was no table skirt so the other couples enjoying their meals could easily look and see, but Austin hadn't refused her yet. In fact, she could have sworn he was growing harder beneath those suit pants of his.
"You can't do this to me here, Cadence.." Austin lowly groaned but he didn't pull back or push her away.
Cadence smirked with amusement twinkling in her eyes as she rested her chin casually on the heel of her palm. Her fingers and nails still teased his wrists, reminding him of his bruises and how he got them. She was royally entertained at Austin's attempts to act modest. And, unintentionally, he had confirmed that he was turned on by being touched in public. Because if he meant that, he would've sounded like he meant it. He was such a bad actor.
"What do you mean, Professor? You're the one getting hard over the fact that I'm touching you around so many people. Are you an exhibitionist, Professor? Do you like being touched in public?"
Austin gulped and nervously dropped his gaze. Unfortunately, his eyes landed on Cadence's phone that was still open. There was a photo of her staring directly into the camera, her eyes dark with lust and body enticing. He put his hand over the phone as he hung his head. He couldn't think about her like that as she was touching him in public. He would cum in his suit pants right here and embarrass himself in front of Cadence. He couldn't be that easy, that weak, that powerless.
"I'm not-"Austin started as he looked up at Cadence but was cut off when someone approached their table.
Austin nearly jumped right out of his skin, his heart definitely leaping into his throat. Cadence only pressed her foot against Austin's crotch even harder and smiled innocently up at their waiter. He offered a few choices of wine, gave them the option of ordering chefs choice, and informed them that they just added more deserts to their menu.
Cadence listened and nodded as their waiter spoke and Austin gripped Cadence's foot, wishing with all his heart that he had the self control to push her away. But, he never did, and he could feel his erection grow hot as it began to throb. Even Cadence noticed it. He was so turned on, he couldn't stop it. There was a person right in front of them, talking to them, while Cadence touched him inappropriately under the table and it was only fueling Austin's hormones.
What if the waiter saw what was happening under their table? Would they assume Austin was an exhibitionist? Would they shoot him a glare full of judgement and disgust? Was he truly so disgusting that he was turned on by that scenario? Yes. There was no way around it, Austin thought. The humiliation, Cadence's dominance, an exposure to his darkest, and newest discovered kink; it all made him painfully hard.
"Wine, Professor?" Cadence flashed Austin a pearly smile. Austin perked up and nodded. "Perfect."
"Okay. I'll be right back with your selection." The waiter said before he strutted away.
Cadence averted her attention to Austin, carefully eyeing him over as he stared shamefully down at the table. Even in the darkness of night, she could tell his face and ears were bright red with embarrassment. For a moment, she debated taking her foot away. Maybe he truly was embarrassment and didn't like being teased with people around. But, when she loosened the pressure she had on his erect cock, his grip tightened so she didn't get the chance to escape.
"White flag?" Cadence whispered, an assumptive tone to her voice since she already knew what he wanted.
Austin gulped, unable to force an answer off his tongue. If he said no, he'd have to face the reality that he was an exhibitionist. Or, was he a masochist? Maybe a cuck? No.. There was no way. But, yet again, he had discovered a lot of things about himself while being with Cadence. He just didn't think he could handle digging up anything else so perverted. Maybe he should just nod and push away the thrill coursing through his veins.
"Don't be ashamed, Professor." Cadence whispered, her voice seeming closer even though it was lower. Austin shyly peered up at Cadence, who was leant a bit over the table. "Do you like being played with in public? You like being shamelessly dirty in front of all these people?"
Austin gulped as he held Cadence's stare, as if he found some sort of safety or comfort within her eyes. All he could do was weakly nod as his eyes nervously fell to the table again. Cadence sat back in her chair and looked around. Nobody had noticed her foot sitting on Austin's crotch yet, even with both of his hands in his lap as he kept her foot in place. Even if they were looking, it's not like she cared.
But, as Cadence pressed the ball of her foot into Austin's crotch, his hips jerked back and his eyes widened at her. "Wh-What are you doing? Y-you don't have to, Cadence.. Actually, if you don't.."
"You want to be teased in public and I want to see you cum in public." Cadence devilishly smirked. "What else is there to do?"
Austin bite back a moan as he stared down at Cadence's foot. Orgasming sounded really desirable right about now. But, Austin liked to think he had a little self control. "Please, Cadence.. Not here.."
Cadence studied Austin, suddenly feeling a bit guilty for pushing him. She pulled her foot away and straightened out in her seat. "Sorry, Austin.."
Austin instantly looked up, his eyes wide past his glasses. He panicked at the guilt written all over her face. "No! Cadence! It's not.. I'm sorry. I liked it. A lot. That's the only reason why I... had to stop.."
Cadence peered at Austin through her eyelashes with an innocent pout. "Really? You liked it?"
"Yes!" Austin reached over the table to grab Cadence's hands and entry caress them. "Really, Cadence. I did! I just... would rather it be a fantasy, not reality. It's fun, just uhm.. too real, I guess.."
Cadence tilted her head in confusion, a light smile on her face. "A fantasy?" Austin nodded. "So, if I want to fulfill said fantasy, how would I do that?"
Austin nervously ran his fingers through his hair as he took a moment to think. "I don't know, I don't know.."
Cadence smiled fondly at Austin's flustered behavior. He was so adorable. He had no idea how to handle his own sexual desires. Cadence just wanted to play with him all day and night to see what all his nobs and buttons did.
"Don't worry, Professor." Cadence whispered with a sweet smile. "I'll figure it out for later. If you'd like that."
Austin gulped as he stared into Cadence's eyes. "S-Sure.. I might like that.."
Cadence decided not to tease Austin too much for the rest of their date. She didn't want to overwhelm his sex drive and have him exhausted before they even left the restaurant. And besides, putting aside the sexual tension meant they could just talk with each other.
She had convinced Austin to talk about the stars and things he had been talking about in class. That led him to talking about his students noticing his bruises, which made Cadence pout. They ate together, making casual conversation between their chewing. Austin asked about her siblings, although, she didn't know how much she'd talk about her home life.
Even when they talked for hours during their first night together, she didn't talk about them a lot. She mostly told stories about when she was in school and her time adjusting to America, which were mostly all funny stories. But luckily, Cadence seemed to open up a little more this evening. He figured it was because she didn't see him as just a random hook up like she did on the first night.
"Since Lamar and Akeem are twins, and on the same footie team, there is always something for them to complain about when they get home." Cadence explained as she reached for her wine. She took a sip and set it down again. "Akeem is really good at scoring while Lamar is really good at assisting. It becomes a problem when their teammates pass to the wrong one, as you can imagine."
"How long have they been playing footie? Which I assume is soccer, right? Not football?" Austin asked, genuinely curious about the aspects of Cadence's life that he didn't get to see.
"Yes, soccer. I forget you Americans have a different name for it." Austin chuckled as she paused to switch to his first question. "They've been playing ever since they were very, very little. My parents always took us outdoors and we'd play in parks and random open fields for hours. Akeem and Lamar learned how to play footie with my father while I picked up good stamina and physical health."
"Makes sense." Austin gestured towards Cadence with his fork. "It's all making sense now."
Cadence snorted a laugh. "Were you a boy that enjoyed playing outside or did you stay inside and read your astronomy books?"
"My teachers didn't like to leave me inside while everyone went and played at recess so I would take my books with me and read on the swings or on top of the jungle gym." Austin answered.
"Ah, I see. A good compromise."
"Yeah, it was fine. Didn't get me a lot of friends."
"Really? You were alone in school?"
"Yeah, for awhile. Until I met David, of course. We occasionally picked up friends in middle school and high school but they never really stuck around long. It was usually always David and I."
"Was David a sporty kid? He gives off a more athletic vibe. No offense!"
"No. No problem. I got that a lot growing up with him." Austin humorously scoffed. "David did play lacrosse for awhile and I usually went to his games. He tried football but didn't really connect with any of the haughty jocks so that didn't last long. But he was definitely the type to try and drag me to high school parties and would crawl into my window drunk when I didn't go with to cut him off from drinks."
"You were too busy studying the stars to go to high school parties?"
"Exactly."
Cadence studied Austin as he gathered food on his fork and stuck it in his mouth. He chewed for a moment before looking up at Cadence, caught off guard by her staring. He couldn't tell what she was thinking but he could tell she was thinking rather hard by the way her head was slightly tilted. She looked pretty staring at him so intently though. The perfectly parallel strands of her straight hair were still perpendicular to the ground while her head stayed at an angle.
"Can I ask, why are you so obsessed with space? Even as a kid, what had you so intrigued that you had your nose in books all your life? I mean, bloody hell, you made it your career." Cadence asked.
A corner of Austin mouth curled upwards as he took a moment to gather all his thoughts and opinions into a simple, understandable answer. "There's a lot out there, you know. As I grew up, I noticed more and more what people cared about. David cared about making friends and trying to fit in at school. And then I had my parents, who were scrambling with work 24/7 and grew to hate each other so much that they went through the long and excruciating process of getting divorced.
Everyone was worrying about something. Everyone was trapped in their little bubbles, worrying about themselves and others around them and I just decided, it didn't matter. Our world was so small that even worrying about being accepted at school felt like nothing to me. There's so much out there and nobody was paying attention to it. So, I decided to."
Cadence absorbed all of Austin's words like a sponge. She was in a trance as she listened to him. He wasn't just rambling or ranting, he was professing this incredibly deep passion for what he cared about. It was captivating. Austin cared so much, it made Cadence realize being an astronomy professor wasn't just a job to him. It wasn't something he was interested in so he devoted his time to it. There was more to it. This was a passion of his and Cadence could feel and understand his passion through his words.
"So, you began teaching astronomy because you wanted to help others pay attention to what was out there, as well?" Cadence asked, trying to put together the little puzzle pieces of Austin's life decisions.
Austin couldn't help but smile as he stared at Cadence just as intently as she stared at him. "Yes. That's exactly why. When people have so many worries, especially college students who are trying to find themselves and their place in society, I wanted to be there to help avert their attention to something bigger than us and our worries."
Cadence nodded, her eyes never straying from Austin's. They simply stared at each other for a moment before Cadence spoke up again. "You're really sexy when you talk so passionately."
Austin's eyes finally fell to his plate as he shyly blushed. It took him a moment before he looked at Cadence again. "Good. I'm glad we're sexy when we're doing something we're passionate about. I'm sexy when I talk about space and you're sexy when you dance."
"And yet, you were convinced that I was out of your league when we first met." Cadence teased.
"Oh, trust me, you still very much are. My sexy meter is very, very small compared to yours." Austin scoffed and then pointed his fork at her phone that sat on the table. "Might I remind you that you just shot with Playboy? There is no Playboy version of astronomy."
"Oh, Professor, I would love to see that." Cadence joked with a shit-eating grin.
After dinner, they fought over who got to pay. Austin insisted, claiming he was blessed enough to get to go on a date with Cadence and didn't want to push his luck. Cadence teased him by claiming she'd punish him if he paid. He ignored her threats and paid, anyways. She even tried to compromise and split the tab but Austin refused. He wanted to treat Cadence tonight and splitting the tab only reminded him that they weren't a couple, which he forgot due to their old married couple bickering over the bill.
Walking out of the restaurant, Austin went to place his hand on the small of Cadence's back like he did when they arrived. But, Cadence caught his hand before he could and interlaced her fingers with his. He was instantly filled with so much excitement as he stared down at her. Holding hands was one thing he was convinced they wouldn't do tonight and he was overjoyed that she had taken his hand on her own.
Sadly, he only got to hold her hand for a couple fleeting minutes as the valet brought his car around to the front of the restaurant. During the car ride home, though, Cadence did occasionally reach out to massage his arm or his thigh as she scrolled through her phone. She seemed to be texting someone, and while they were at a light, he noticed it was a group chat with her family. It made him smile. He envied her relationship with her big, rambunctious family.
"I'm not ignoring you, by the way." Cadence said halfway through the drive. "And I haven't already checked out from our date."
"I know. Don't worry." Austin chuckled. "I'm not that needy. I can go without your attention for a car ride."
"Can you?" Cadence teased.
"Well, no, I wouldn't like to." Austin smiled as he reached his hand out for Cadence.
Cadence held his hand for a moment before she got another message from one of her siblings. She placed Austin's hand on her thigh, silently letting him know he was allowed to do so. He rubbed his thumb over the soft skin of her thigh as he drove. Cadence was soon giggling at her messages and hurriedly typing to respond to the overflow of texts from her family.
"Awh!" Cadence squealed as she held her phone out for Austin to see. "Look at little Jada with the puppy filter on Snapchat! Isn't she the cutest?"
Austin stole a glance and smiled at the photo on the screen. Jada had her tongue stuck out as far as she could, despite there already being a tongue on the puppy filter. Her braids were short but had plastic bows clipped on at the end. It was obviously someone else was taking the picture in selfie mode since there was a shoulder in the corner of the screen.
"She's adorable. She's the youngest one, right?" Austin asked as his eyes fell on the road ahead of them again.
"Yeah. She's been begging for a phone recently so Jaylynn lets her play with hers. Snapchat is her favorite so far." Cadence explained.
Cadence scrolled through the Snapchat filters and found a goofy one. She pulled a silly face and Austin was quick to stick a peace sigh up behind her head to give her little buddy ears. Cadence swatted his hand away after the photo was taken but sent it to Jaylynn anyways. Unfortunately, Jaylynn decided to screenshot the photo and didn't even respond.
Cadence was bracing herself. She was in the calm before the storm.
A moment later, her phone was ringing. Jaylynn was facetiming her. "Bloody hell! Look what you've just got me into!"
"What? From putting my hand in your selfie?" Austin defended.
"Yes!" Cadence exclaimed and held her phone up to answer the call. "Ello?"
"Is that a boy? That's a boys hand, isn't it? Everyone thinks it's a boys hand!" Jaylynn shouted into the phone.
Already, she could tell everyone had gathered around so they could see for themselves. Cadence shot a playful glare at Austin, who beamed with amusement as he looked at her phone screen. He could see Jaylynn, someone that looked like it could be her mother, Jada's recognizable forehead, and a large shoulder. They were obviously all piled in their parents bed and the voices in the background revealed Lamar and Akeem were there are well.
"You vultures really had to proper huddle up to examine the hand in my Snapchat and then decided to FaceTime me as if I'd actually show you his face?" Cadence laughed.
"So it is a boy?" Lucretia questioned as she leant into frame. It was easy to realize where Cadence got her beauty from. Her mother looked so youthful. "We had to call you before you got out of that car! I know he's driving you!"
Cadence rolled her eyes. "I'm not going to show you his face! My love life is none of your business."
"Oh, come on! Give it up!" Bruce hollered. Austin flinched at his booming voice. "Show him!"
"Show him! Show him! Show him!" Jaylynn began chanting, encouraging her brothers to join in. The chant instantly caught on, all six family members obnoxiously shouting it into the phone.
"I'm sorry.." Cadence whispered to Austin and held her hand out.
Austin interlaced his fingers with hers, a genuine smile on his face. "I don't mind. Really."
"I'm not going to show your face. I'll give them a taste of what they want, alright?"
"I don't mind either way, Cadence."
"What are you saying to him? Is he agreeing to be on camera?" Jaylynn pushed.
Cadence pulled Austin's hand into frame and placed a kiss on his knuckles. "Here! Look! I've got part of him! Are you happy now?"
"Oh, boo!" Bruce howled into the phone.
"We know what his hand looks like, bloody hell, Cadie! Show us his face!" Akeem yelled from off camera. He was obviously looking at the phone but not appearing on camera, as was Austin.
"Wait, he's white?" Lamar yelled.
"Turn the camera, for cryin' out loud, Cadie!" Lucretia insisted. She was getting annoyed at all this teasing. She just wanted to see what kind of boy had captured her daughters attention.
"No, mum! I refuse! This poor man deserves some privacy away from you nosy vultures!" Cadence laughed, still playing with his fingers in the frame of the camera.
"Why is he bruised up?" Jaylynn asked with a contorted expression. "What'd you do to him?"
Austin nervously retracted his hand and placed it back on the steering wheel. He didn't even want his colleagues and students to see them, let alone, Cadence's younger siblings and parents.
"See! Look what you did. You scared him away." Cadence stuck her tongue out at Jaylynn, who did so right back at her.
"Is he a good man? Does he treat you kindly?" Lucretia asked.
"Yes. Yes, he does. He just treated me to a very fancy dinner." Cadence admitted. She was instantly revealed to see her apartment building come into view as they turned into the parking lot. "Oh, look! I'm home now. Looks like we'll be parting ways."
"No! Not yet!" Jaylynn yelled.
"Lemme see this blokes face before he leaves, Cadie!" Akeem barked.
Cadence ignored her family to unbuckle herself and slip out of the car. She adjusted her fuzzy scarf and dress before she leant back in to say her farewells to Austin. "I'm sorry about them. I would've invited you in and treated you for treating me to dinner but they're really not going to let this go for the rest of the night."
"It's fine. I enjoyed my night with you." Austin smiled sweetly at Cadence.
Cadence braced herself on the seat of the car, her hand and clutch caught between her hands and the seat as she leant in to kiss Austin. She kissed him slowly and passionately, silently thanking him for dinner and getting the most of the feeling of his lips before she parted from him for the rest of the night. Meanwhile, the entire family huddled up to the phone to examine what they could see.
Cadence's cleavage took up most of the camera shot but the little light shining into the car from the parking lot was revealing the shape of Austin's chin as he kissed her. Everyone carefully watched them make out for a moment before Cadence pulled away. Jaylynn got even closer to the phone to see if she's catch a glimpse of his face but Cadence was cautious in how she tilted her phone.
"He's clean shaven." Lucretia noted.
"Definitely white." Bruce added.
"Is he wearing glasses? Are you dating a nerd?" Akeem butted in.
"It's too dark! I can barely see anything!" Jaylynn whined.
Cadence glanced at her phone with a groan and peeked back inside the car with an apologetic smile. "Goodnight."
"Goodnight, Cadence." Austin called after her just before she shut the passenger side door.
Austin stayed and watched to make sure she made it inside. Cadence slightly struggled to yell at her family as she dug for her keys and pulled the entrance to her apartment building open. He couldn't help but grin as watched her climb her stairs through the window, pointing her manicured fingernail at her phone as she bickered with her family. When she disappeared up the stairs, Austin put his car in reverse and drove out of the parking lot.
Part of him, or most of him, really wished he was heading upstairs with her. Not because he wanted to end their date night with sex, but simply because he enjoyed her company. Austin enjoyed talking to Cadence about her family, her career, and everything else she had going on in her life. He didn't talk about himself much to others, since he figured there wasn't much, but Cadence always managed to pull stories and opinions out of him. He wanted to stay up all night and talk with her.
If only Cadence was his girlfriend. A man could dream... Austin, specifically, would be dreaming. Not only had she pushed the boundaries of his comfort zone with her foot on her crouch, but she was pushing the boundaries of their relationship and his feelings for her. He was growing attached to her more and more. He never imagined she'd allowed them to go on a date, but she did, and he liked it. Too much. He wanted more of her. How did he get more of her?
