Personality: An equal mix of Klaus, Elijah and Kol. Usually understanding and caring, Kal can be cold and calculating when he needs to be, and like Kol can sometimes get a little crazy. If he turns his humanity off? Forget it. He becomes unhinged.

Backstory: Kal was born and raised in the Norse settlement that was present on what would one day become Mystic Falls, in the tenth century AD. He was close with his mother, respected his father. He looked up greatly to both Klaus and Elijah. Kalen was practically inseparable with his twin, Kol. Part of the reason for them being so close, apart from being twins, was that they were both magic users, warlocks. A trait they inherited from their mother, Esther.

After the Immortality Spell was cast, Kal stayed with his siblings for as long as he could. Even going so far as to stay with Klaus and Elijah and Rebekah when the rest of the family split up.

But, when Klaus got his hands on the daggers and white oak ash, Kalen figured out what his brother was planning and left before Klaus could use a dagger on him. Kalen managed to reunite with Kol after that, and the twins stayed together for a long while until the appearance of Mikael caused them to part ways.

Kal is known to some vampires as the "Hidden Original" for having been able to evade both Klaus and Mikael for centuries, also there is almost no historical record of him anywhere.

Kalen personally sired Andrew, Christian and Delia Thomas and any vampires sired by them will belong to Kalen's sire line.
