Background: Identical twin brothers Castor and Pollux Troy were born at the turn of the 19th Century in Philadelphia. Their mother, a prostitute, died during their birth. They were adopted by the administrator of the hospital, a wealthy widower named Dr. Alphonsus Troy. A lover of Ancient Greek and Roman, mythology and culture, Dr. Troy named his two sons Castor and Pollux after the famed twin warriors from Greek Mythology. He cared for the boys and raised them as his own. The twins knew only love and care and because of their dad's salary, they lived very well and received a top education.

It's because of this loving upbringing that Dr. Troy's death in 1820 devastated the brothers. They were halfway through their education at Harvard University. His death only strengthened their resolve though, finishing their education at Harvard in 1822. In 1825, Castor graduated from medical school, becoming a doctor like his adopted father. Pollux had attained Masters degrees in English and History and got a job teaching literature at Boston College.

In fall of 1825, a serious influenza outbreak hit Boston, working in a hospital on the front lines of the outbreak, Castor got it within days, he then transferred it to his twin as they lived together. It wasn't long before both twins were on the brink of death.

Enter one Andrew Thomas, who was in Boston for business, taking meetings with executives at the Boston Globe about purchasing the paper. He had looked up Dr. Castor Troy in hopes that he could get some human insight into a possible deterrent for vervain, of course without giving away the existence of vampires.

He found both twins in their bed, a sweaty, sticky mess. The pleading look in their eyes broke the vampires heart. So, in order to save them, he turned them into vampires and took them under his wing, teaching them all about their new powers and the subtle art of drinking from humans without killing them. Also, to Andrew's surprise, Ian and Delia took to their new siblings very easily.

It took Castor and Pollux time to get used to their new life and family, but after awhile they came to view Andrew as a second father figure in their life.

In 1830, Pollux received doctorates in both English and History from Princeton University.

In 2010 both twins received Education degrees from the University of Alabama. As of 2023, Castor teaches both Health and Anatomy and Physiology at Oakridge High School and Pollux teaches English, APUSH and AP Lit.
