Chapter 22 - The Romantic Angle?

Meme maker: Oh you know😂

Happy Reading,

MUMBAI

A month had passed since the night of doom that fell on people associated with Sonakshi Bose. Scenarios and relationships had changed a lot. Sona was healing her wounds. Asha was also back home after most of her injuries were dealt with.

In the middle of all the turmoil, a relation that had stood firm in the test of times was finally blooming amidst hand touches and phone calls.

"Naina, meri behna, tera boyfriend itna ameer hai fir bhi tune date ke liye iss plan ko okay kiya?" Preeti said while shaking Naina by her shoulders.

Naina freed herself from Preeti's hold but found herself trapped in Swati's words.

"Mujhe shaq tha ki tera dimag khiska hua hai par aaj yakeen ho gaya." Swati said. "Tu bore ho jaayegi Naina!"

"My boredom is my boredom, none of  your boredom!" Naina said and tapped Swati's temple.

"Why not!" Preeti gave up, dived on the bed and pulled the comforter over her.

"Tera rishta nahi ho raha Naina! Thoda enjoy kar le." Swati advised her and went to sleep.

Naina sat on the edge of the bed wondering if her idea of a date could even be classified as a date? She had asked Sameer to have a sort of 'day out' with her. She had seen all his interviews but wanted to peep into a normal day of his life. So she had asked him to take her to the set.

The point was Naina and Sameer had met after what seemed like ages. They must have changed with time too. What had changed? What had remained the same? Naina wanted to know it all now that they were back to being SamAina instead of Sameer and Naina.

Naina kept wondering how old were her old school ideas?

Sameer had wanted to bring her to his set, since the day they met at the temple before the college fest. He had a peaceful sleep thinking Naina could read his mind!

SHIMLA

Sonakshi woke up and shut her screeching alarm off. She looked at her reflection in the mirror and smile back at it. She had finally started feeling good about herself, something she hadn't ever felt in life before.

She got dressed up as quickly as possible and wrote a note for Nisha:

Mall road jaa rahi hu. I'll be back when dil chahe ;)

Sonakshi had been working on her book for sometime now.

"You'll be publishing this? Mera laptop le le na. I don't have much of an idea in this field but I think your draft will be easier to present if it is scripted in the laptop." Nisha had been behaving like a jumping jack since the day Sonakshi told her about her book.

"This is MY book. I will not publish it." Sonakshi was firm on her decision.

Nisha had tried to reason, had tried to blackmail, had tried every way possible but Sonakshi wasn't that easy to convince.

"I don't want to be a novelist." Sonakshi had said. "As shallow as it may sound, it doesn't pay well and I've got to earn for my mo.."

"Mom?" Nisha had asked.

"Just a slip of tongue." Sonakshi had covered.

The fact was that the idea to earn a lot and give Asha all the comforts of life was so deep rooted in Sona's head that it spilled automatically, like a reflex in such situations.

It wasn't for the love of her mother. Now that Sonakshi, thought over it, she felt that she was obliged to look after the parent who stayed while Asha didn't really help her grow ever.

If she wanted she could try to get her book published but she didn't feel like taking a risk.

Even if the book wasn't meant for the market now, Sonakshi was giving all of her head and heart to it. She used to spend hours in the library at the Mall Road, reading random books, boosting her vocabulary, getting ideas to write scenes. She was finally investing in her self.

Sonakshi took the short cut from Lakkar Bazar and reached the mall road, panting heavily. She sat near an ice cream parlour to catch her breath. The road was relatively less stocked with tourists and vendors, the sky was clear. The light breeze was making the larger than life Indian flag flutter with grace.

She crossed the scandal point, walked a few steps ahead of it, stopped in her track and then ran back to it. She clicked a couple of odd, crazy selfies. She was overwhelming with self love.

Sonakshi continued strolling around and sat on a bench. The view of the valley was breath taking. The mountains had a blue hue with the clouds draping them. On the hill across, the famous Hanuman idol was standing, as if over looking the entire valley. Shimla had it's own beauty!

Sonakshi forcefully pulled her eyes away from the scenery. She took out her phone and began writing the next parts.

MUMBAI

Preeti and Swati had a whole heap of books to study but still they were busy doing something even more important. They were waiting for Naina to stand in front of them for their approval for her date dress.

Naina came out wearing a crushed, discoloured pink salwar suit with an embroidered purple waist coat. It had mirror works and flowers woven on it.

"Yeh kya hai?" Swati objected.

"Rejected!" Preeti screamed.

"Tumhara opinion nahi lungi mai!" Naina almost shouted.

"Hawww" Preeti was up on her toes. Swati followed.

"Yeh dress purani lag rahi hai Naina." Swati said with a straight face.

"Mai yahi pehen ke jaaungi." Naina said. Being stubborn came so naturally to her but Preeti and Swati were not going to let Naina go away. They blocked the door of their room and even if Naina kept screaming in protest, they did not budge.

"Hato na!" Naina tried to push them.

"Na" They shouted together.

"Sameer ki favourite dress hai." Naina said in a whisper.

"Hain? Can't hear you!" Swati said.

"Sameer ki favourite dress hai, school time me thi matlab."

"Tune school days me bhi ye kyu kharidi?" Swati tried to knock some fashion sense in Naina's head but she was being rigid.

"Mai jaungi toh aise hi jaungi nahi toh nahi." Naina came up with an ultimatum.

"Theek hai jaa par agar tera hero boyfriend tujh pe hasega toh humare paas rote huye mat aana." Preeti said and made way for Naina to leave. Swati rolled her eyes and left her blocking spot too.

Naina gave them a winning smirk, took her clutch and left the two of them sulking behind.

"It was a minor attempt ma'am. Nothing has been stolen. The thieves must have run away at the sound of the alarm." Chalu Pandey, an inspector told a worried Jyotsna.

The burglar alarm at the Production House's office was screaming last night when Bahadur, their security guard woke up from his sleep abruptly to find the main glass door broken. He looked inside the building but couldn't find anyone. He peeped from the balcony and found three shadows running away from the sight of theft.

"Do you keep any valuable item in there?" Chalu Pandey asked.

"None." Jyotsna said.

"So that means the thieves actually didn't know where they were going to. It must have been a random try to loot." Chalu concluded. "Still for your peace of mind I would recommend you to let us scan the CCTV footage."

Jyotsna nodded and led the way. She was about to open the door of the control room when her phone began ringing.

"Sorry. I'll have to take this one." Jyotsna said.

Chalu Pandey nodded in a yes but his annoyance was clear.

"Hello Aneesh?"

"Yeh TRP situation haath se bahar jaa rahi hai." Aneesh replied from the other side. "We have dropped from 2.7 to 1.7. Upar se, the channel is pressuring us to get Sahil married to Shefali's character Reema... Keh rahe hai shock value se TRP aayegi."

"Tell that Gareeb Ki Beti to start scripting." Jyotsna replied.

"Pagal mat bano. Have you checked our hashtag on twitter? They know we have changed our writers. They are demanding Sonakshi back! Where do we find her?"

Jyotsna felt her blood freeze at Sonakshi's mention.

"I had put a lot of trust in that girl's ability Aneesh. She betrayed us." Jyotsna replied.

"Accha what is the situation over there? What did they take?" Aneesh changed the topic.

"Nothing. Police says they didn't understand it's an office."

"Hmm"

"Accha. I'll have to go now. The police wants to check the CCTV footage." Jyotsna said.

They said their byes.

"I think humein kuch din pehle tak ki CCTV footage dekhni chahiye. Maybe kuch link mile? Someone suspicious?" Chalu Pandey expressed his worries and Jyotsna ordered to bring CCTV footage for the last 30 days.

Meanwhile, Aneesh was reading hate tweets on the hashtag #PehlaPehlaPyar:

•What have they done to my show? 1 month, 20 episodes and the whole charm has gone down the drain! @AneeshMalani bring @Bosegirl25. Don't you care for our show? #PehlaPehlaPyar

#PehlaPehlaPyar is the proof that ITv can't sustain good shows.

@Bosegirl25 thank you for giving us #PehlaPehlaPyar . You showed us how to write a charming series. #SaHat died with your exit!

I won't mind if the channel ends #PehlaPehlaPyar after the OTT drama they are showing! Pre @Bosegirl25 's exit SaHat will always be my OTP. Dil toots.

• Last night's epi was enough of a proof that @AneeshMalani and @JyotsnaM_ don't care for our show! #PehlaPehlaPyar

• I survive on FanFictions now. #PehlaPehlaPyar.

• RT if you want to trend #SavePehlaPehlaPyar this saturday.

• Why did @Bosegirl25 leave anyway? With a show ends a lot of jobs. Bring her back please. #PehlaPyarPyar

•I won't trust CVs and ITV after #PehlaPehlaPyar

Aneesh closed the laptop. The show was special for both the Malanis and the downfall of it wasn't making either of the two happy. Aneesh had been trying to persuade Jyotsna to shed her ego and try to contact Sonakshi but she had only been denying.

The door of Aneesh's room opened. It was Jyotsna.

"I think you need to read these tweets Jyotsna. We need @Bosegirl25 back." Aneesh said. "Please try to understand. No other writer in the market is better than RR and KK and you know how they have been treating our show."

"I know." Jyotsna had a sly smile on her lips. "I have a scheme."

"What scheme?"

"We can get Sonakshi back without us bending too much in front of her."

"How?"

"See."

Jyostna took Aneesh's laptop and inserted a CD in it. After browsing through a few files she opened a footage.

"Oh that's Sonakshi in the waiting area!" Aneesh exclaimed. "Oh she is hugging and crying over our show's poster. She loves our show!"

"That's not exactly our show's poster. She is trying to specifically hug Dev." Jyotsna pointed. Her smirk was growing bigger and bigger.

"Dev? So do you think there was some romantic angle in her exit?" Aneesh said.

"You bet? I'm gonna call Dev Dixit here after the shoot wraps up today." Jyotsna behaved like she had conquered the world. "Oh! Also I have news to send in the media houses."

"Ufff!! What are you gonna do now?"

You know?
