Chapter 14 - Alone
I know, some of you wanna kill me on the cliffhanger I left y'all on. Here is another chapter to fix that, but you probably still wanna smack me tho. Welp, Enjoy!
Adrien's POV
I walked though the door to my first class, exhausted because of not being able to sleep last night. I plopped down in my seat, not really noticing the people around me, and in my own world.
"Hey dude, you good?"
I snapped out of my thoughts and looked up to see Nino with a concerned look on his face.
"Yeah, just a long night with modeling and stuff. How are you doing?"
He sighed. "Well, as good as one can do considering all of school slavery, homework, and whatnot."
I look around and can see everyone in the classroom except for Marinette. I make eye contact with Alya and she gives me that 'I'll tell you later' look. Just then Mrs. Bustier walks in with a cheerful tone.
"Alright class, let's begin!"
Marinette's POV
I found myself awake for the past 2 hours, even though I was tired. I told my parents that I wasn't feeling well and they let me be. I also texted Alya that I won't make it to school today cause of mermaid reasons. Although, these excuses are not the reason.
I scroll though on my phone, looking at random things in the internet to distract me. Tikki eventually flies up to me in concern.
"Marinette, you okay?"
"Yeah, just a long night."
"Marinette, I'm the only one you can tell everything about you life. Are you sure you're okay?"
After she said that, I went hysterical. I felt new tears run down my already tear stained face and sobbed uncontrollably.
"No Tikki, I-I'm not o-okay! Chat p-probably hates me now a-and I can't tell h-him anything while keeping a secret. All this t-tail has done is cause trouble!"
Tikki flew beside me and sat on my knee. With a gentle voice, she spoke. "Marinette, would it help if you transformed and tried to reason with him. Especially after he's calmed down from last night?"
I took a deep breath and wiped the tears of my face. "Yeah, I guess I'll try that. Tikki, Spots On."
I was covered in a pink glowing light that when faded away, left me in my very familiar suit. I climbed up to me roof, looking around and checking if anyone could see or notice me. Once the way was clear, I pulled out my yo-yo and swung across Paris.
After some time, I found myself atop the Eiffel Tower, looking over the city. I sat down over the ledge and opened my bug phone. I dialed Chat's number, waiting in anticipation for an answer, but it went straight to voicemail.
"Hey, this is Chat Noir. I can't talk at the moment, but leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can."
"Hey Chat Noir, it's me Ladybug. I wanted to apologize for yesterday. I was awful and inconsiderate to you. Please come back, I, I can't do this without you. And if you can't come back for me, come back for the city, please don't let them suffer for my mistakes. I'm sorry."
I sent the message, exhaling slowly to control my emotions. I stared out across the skyline and finally, began to lose consciousness.
Time skip to right as school is over
I woke up suddenly, and realized I fell asleep on top of the tower. I quickly grab my bug phone and check the time, gasping when I saw it.
"Shoot, school is out, I need to get home fast!"
I throw my yo-yo out on the distance and make my way home as fast as possible, trying to stay out of sight as I went home so no one would notice me going into my house. I eventually make it home and collapse on my bed in exhaustion.
"Tikki, Spots off."
Adrien's POV
As I exit the school, I see a flash of red out of the corner of my eye. I turn to see Ladybug for a spit moment, swinging across Paris. I quickly dash of into an alley, making sure no one follows.
"Plagg, Claws Out!"
I transform and feel my staff buzz. I open it up and see a new notification and click on it. 'One new voicemail?' I hold the staff up to my ear to listen.
"Hey Chat Noir, it's me Ladybug. I wanted to apologize for yesterday. I was awful and inconsiderate to you. Please come back, I, I can't do this without you. And if you can't come back for me, come back for the city, please don't let them suffer for my mistakes. I'm sorry."
I choke back a sob. 'I really did hurt her...' I turn on locate, but I can't find her, meaning she's already detransformed. Thinking on my options, I decide to go visit Marinette, knowing that she's not feeling too well.
Another amazing time skip brought to you by Plagg's cheese break
I detransformed beside Marinette's house, making sure no one was around.
"I want some cheese."
"Be quiet Plagg, there's some in my pocket."
I walk into the Dupain-Cheng bakery and I'm immediately greeted by Marinette's mother and the smell of freshly baked treats.
"Why Hello Adrien! How may I help you?"
"Hi Mrs. Dupain-Cheng. I was wondering if I could speak to Marinette for our, uh, Science project."
Her usual happy smile was replaced with worry across her face. "You can try and talk to her, but she won't let anyone in, not even Alya."
She lets me in to the backside of the bakery and points up the stairs. I nod in thanks and she goes back to the front of the store. As I climb up the stairs, she must've heard me and called out.
"Please leave me alone right now."
"Marinette, it's me, Adrien. Can I talk to you?"
There was a moment of silence, followed by her voice.
"Okay, come in."
I lift open the trapdoor to her room and can see her sitting on her couch, with tears stained down her face. As I walk over to her, she doesn't move and stares at the ground in front of her. I sit down beside her and say nothing, scared I might hurt her.
After a few minutes of sitting in silence, she speaks up in a soft tone.
"Adrien, I've hurt somebody and I don't know how to fix it. They hate me and I'm scared they'll never talk to me again."
I was astounded. "Why would anyone hate you? You are the nicest person I know and if you do something out of the ordinary, you always have a legitimate excuse."
Suddenly, the tears began to flow again, and she began sobbing.
"Th-They don't think t-that."
"Then they have to change, not you. You're already perfect Marinette."
The crying ceased and she took a deep breath, still staring at the ground in front of her.
"Are you sure?"
"Absolutely."
She didn't move, but she wasn't as bad as before. With her eyes still locked in the ground, I got up and spoke.
"If you ever need someone to talk to, or need someone to punch somebody else, I'll be here for you."
That got a smile out of her. I reached my hand out and brushed the loose ends of hair out of her face. I don't know what came over me, but I leaned down and kissed her on the forehead.
I then left the room, not looking back to give her space. When I went to the door about to leave, Mrs. Dupain-Cheng stopped me.
"No one's ever been able to calm her down that fast, Thank you."
I turned around and nodded. "Of course, anything for the people that deserve it."
Marinette's POV
"Tikki, I need you to be 100% honest with me. Was that real, or am I asleep?"
"Honestly at this point, I have no idea either."
You're welcome, it's not too bad this time. I'm still hiding though. I has work but I feels like doing this so yeah.
🐞 Bug Out! 🐞
