Lab

Pov Dipper

I was helping Grunkle Stan with a few things. We were counting inventory for the gift shop. I've been keeping my power growth a secret from Stan. I don't think he should know and the atmosphere has been weird lately.

Stan and Ford haven't been talking at all. Mabel doesn't know why they haven't been talking to each other. Even when they do fight with each other they still speak to each other.

"Everything is in stock," I smiled at him.
"I think Ford took one of my items to his lab," Stan sighed.
"Do you want me and Mabel to get it?" I asked him.
"Yes," Stan said.

I walked to the living room and Mabel was watching TV. I told her that we have to get to something from Ford's lab. Shen turned off the TV and followed me.

"Are we going to the lab or the other one?" Mabel asked.
"The lab," I said.
We both started to walk to his normal lab and Mabel had a small idea, "What if while we're there we accidentally walk into the secret lab."
I gasped playfully, "Mabel."
"I mean maybe I spied on Ford and found a cool secret entrance like in the movies," Mabel smiled.
"Let's go," I smiled.

Mabel quickly pulled me to the lab. Our smiles widened in rebellion. Ford and Stan thought that we didn't know about the secret lab. I still can't believe that they think we don't pay attention to everything.

Thankful for Mabel and Waddles being small she was able to find a secret entrance. Mabel placed a small bow tie on Waddles with a camera inside and sent him to spy on their uncle. Waddles secretly followed Ford everywhere until the secret room was shown. Mabel just told me everything as she showed me the secret entrance.

Before we entered I found what Stan was looking for and gave it to him. Mabel told Waddles to go in and walk around the lab before coming out. He was told not to leave until they come in. It was our cover in case he had cameras. We waited a bit before we walked in.

As we walked inside the secret entrance we both giggle and I could tell Mabel was as excited as I was. I mean who hasn't dreamed about finding a secret entrance? I know I have.

I started to feel a little anxious since we were finally doing this. I mean I was worried that we might get caught, but there is a possibility that we won't. The quietness started to scare me a bit. I started to get this haunting feeling that I know isn't normal.

As we finally made it to the bottom of the staircase we only saw fancy computers and technology that we couldn't understand. I looked over at one of the shelves and saw boxes filled with food from over a decade.

"What do you think Ford has all this food?" Mabel questioned.
"I mean they almost had the end of the world," I suggested.
"I mean everything is dusty so this had to be before the end of the world experience," Mabel blew on the dusty box, "Christ *cough cough* that was a bad idea."
"It was," I coughed, "Do you think that Ford knows..."
"I don't think so, but Grunkle Stan said he's also been paranoid that he might return," Mabel said.
"I guess that makes sense since everything he had done," I said.
"I think that he didn't mean to do it," Mabel muttered, "He was projecting his angry since he doesn't know why he's angry."
"You really think that?" I started to walk deeper into the lap.
"Remember that he doesn't remember a certain part of his life," Mabel followed me, "Maybe that angry comes from that part of his life?"
"That could be it," I mumbled, "Even in reality for some people that wouldn't be an excuse."
"I feel like in certain situations it can be, but we are talking about an all-powerful demon that doesn't know how to express emotions due to trauma," Mabel said.
"You know what I've been thinking about," I muttered.
"What are you thinking about?" Mabel asked me.
"I was-"

My eyes widen in horror as I saw the body parts of monsters. They were floating in jars and I even saw some skeletons on the walls.

"What the hell," Mabel said.
"..."
"Dipper, I'm so sorry," Mabel told him.
"Why would he do this?" I wanted to cry, "What is the point of hurting them?"
"Is it fucked up that I'm not surprised," Mabel said, "That I feel like he's the type of person to do this?"
"C-Can we leave this area please?" I asked her.

I felt Mabel grab my arm softly and lead me away. I froze and I just kept staring at the dead creatures. I couldn't stop looking at them.

I felt my heart crack as I walked past that. A part of me is thinking that I could have done something about it, but some of them had dust and even spider webs.

We both realized that as we walked deeper into the lab there were more cages. Some of them were empty while others had decaying parts.

We saw test tubes and science stuff. We also saw weapons that looked like they were from the future. There was a chalkboard with math equations.

"I wonder what he's doing?" I mumbled.
"Dipper, look," Mabel pointed up at the wall.
I saw a tapestry, "Is that Bill's demon form?"
"This is a little creepy," Mabel said, "I didn't think that Ford actually worshipped him."
"Is it wrong for me to think that his demon form is a little cute," I asked her, "I mean... he has a little bow tie, a top hat, and a little cane."
"It is a little cute, but not in this," Mabel pointed at the flames and people bowing down to him.
"He has so many books," I mumbled, "Some of them look really old."
"Dipper, let me hop on your back so I can get that book," Mabel said.
"Alright,"

I noticed that Mabel's necklace was glowing and I should have known it was magical. I mean we did get it from a tent that never came back.

Once she grabbed the book she gave it to me and she jumped off. We both looked at the book and it was a bunch of symbols. I knew Mabel was more interested in the books than me. A few documents fell from the book and she read them. She told me it was nothing and just more math problems. We just looked around more. I took a picture of the tapestry before we left the area.

Third Person

Ford was in town with all of them. Ford had called them for a quick meeting. He had discovered something and needed information.

"Has Mabel been acting odd lately?" Ford asked.
"What do you mean odd?" Candy asked.
"More secretive than usual?" Ford asked.
"Not from our knowledge," Grenda said.
"I can tell something is bothering her, but I don't know what," Pacifica answered, "She was at my house yesterday and she seemed bothered by something."
"Why are we talking about Mabel? Shouldn't we be more worried about the other one?" Gideon questioned, "Isn't it odd that he can communicate with monsters? He can give himself the characteristics of them as well."
"I'm only asking because I saw her come from a different realm," Ford told them, "I was able to transport but it took me a large machine and not being able to come back."
"Maybe a monster helped her," Candy said, "Her brother is very polite to them."
"Only demonic blood can transport to that realm and come back," Ford said, "That realm was the same one I was stuck in for years..."
"Didn't you almost lose your sanity?" Grenda asked.
"Yes, but luckily I found this stone," Ford showed them his bracelet, "I found it, but I know my mind isn't as normal. I was there too long with it, but not long enough for permit damage."
"No, Mabel isn't going crazy," Pacifica told them, "She's just bothered by something because I know Mabel."
"We're just thinking about the possibilities," Gideon said.
"She has the same gemstone and so does her brother," Ford said, "They were craved into shapes. A shooting star and a Pinetree."
"The missing pieces of our cipher wheel," Candy said.
"I still can't believe we figured out a way to do it without them," Grenda sighed.

The twin's biggest mistake was touching the book. A secret alarm went off alerting Ford, Gideon, Pacifica, Candy, and Grenda.

"Someone is in the lab," Ford said.
"The secret one," Candy mumbled.
"We have to go now," Ford said.
"Isn't Stan home?" Gideon asked, "Have him check it out and turn it off."
"I have a dangerous creature locked up and I'm worried that it might have escaped," Ford told them, "I couldn't trap it without you all."
"That was a year ago," Grenda said.

They all raced to the shack not knowing it was only twins. Meanwhile, the twins were roaming around and looking at more things. Mabel still held the book and was looking at the symbols.

Mabel stepped on something that made a soft click. Suddenly the twins were separated by a trap door leading them to different places in the lab.

They were confused about how big this place was. Mabel ended up back at the beginning of the lab, but she was inside a cage. She was glad it wasn't one of the bloody ones.

"Ford really needs a friend," Mabel sighed, "If he had one maybe he'll stop making these STUPID TRAPS AND HAVE A SOCIAL LIFE!"
"I heard that!" Ford yelled.
"I mean... she's not wrong," Gideon agreed.
"Haha," Candy and Grenda giggled.
"Mabel!" Pacifica went over to the cage, "Are you hurt?"
"I'm fine," Mabel told her, "A trap door separated me and Dipper."
"Why are you two down here and who did you find the lab?" Ford asked.
"Waddles," Mabel only gave him that.
"The pig can talk?" Ford questioned.
"No, he's one of the non-talking monsters," Mabel said, "I'm also not telling you."
"Ford, where's the key?" Pacifica asked, "We have to get Mabel out of here."

Ford had many keys and couldn't remember which one it was. Mabel groaned and took off her necklace.

"Thank you magic book," Mabel mumbled.

Gideon recognized the type of gemstone she had. It looked like his but pink. They all saw a portal open and Mabel jumped through it. It appeared again out of the cage and she walked through.

"Can't believe that worked," Mabel smiled.
"Where did you get that?" Gideon asked trying to reach for it.
Mabel slapped his hand away, "Do not touch it. I got it from a big tent in town..."
"That can't be," Gideon said, "None of the townspeople will ever sell that or even find it. You have no idea what power you're possessing."
"I do know and I would love for you to mind your business," Mabel said as she looked through the book.
"Mabel, I'm serious," Gideon said.
"I'm serious also," Mabel said.
"We have to find Dipper," Pacifica said, "There is a dangerous creature inside this lab."

They all went to go find Dipper. Ford was annoyed that the twins went down here. Pacifica kept asking if Mabel was okay. She was worried. Mabel smiled softly and told her that she was okay and she wasn't hurt at all.

They all shouted Dipper's name but there was no answer. Ford went on his phone and went to look at the cameras, but they weren't working.

"What were you two doing down here?" Ford asked Mabel.
"Waddles stumbled down here through a trap door in your lab," Mabel lied, "We followed him down here and we're trying to find him."
"Waddles is on the couch," Candy said.
"He must have found a way out since he is a smart pig," Mabel said, "He is a quick learner since I taught him how to push buttons on the remote. He also remembered my password for my laptop."
"Can he type it in?" Grenda asked.
"Yes," Mabel smiled.
"That's impressive," Gideon admitted.

Ford went into a room to see if the creature in the glass cage was still there. They followed him and saw the glass cage open and a bunch of symbols on the wall.

"It escaped," Ford said.
"Someone let it free," Gideon said.

They heard weakened creature noise. They all followed it until they went into a room. They saw Dipper sitting on the floor with the monster's head on his lap.

"You can finally rest now," Dipper muttered softly.

The monster looked up at him before finally shutting its eyes.

Dipper's eyes glowed, "I'm sorry that I couldn't save you."

His eyes widen when he saw the creature glow. It slowly disappeared and turned into a flower. Everyone's eyes widen when they saw a ghost behind Dipper. They saw a fairy ghost flying around him and sitting on his shoulder.

"I know," Dipper mumbled, "The poor thing just gave up... You suffered also."

The spirit of the fairy was the same one that bites Dipper. They didn't know.

"Dipper," Mabel walked up to him.
"They didn't want to die here," Dipper told her, "None of them did."
"Did you let it free!" Gideon shouted.
"Shut it!" Mabel said.
"No," Dipper answered, "It came limping to me."

Dipper got up and hugged himself. He walked past them in silence. Mabel expect him to shout, to tell Ford how awful he was. Nothing.

He just walked further and looked back, "Aren't you coming?"

His eyes glowed and they were a bright blue that slowly turned red. Ford, Gideon, Grenda, Candy, and Pacifica were reminded of Bill. It was that same shade of red.

The red quickly disappeared when he closed his eyes and turned back on them. Mabel followed behind him. She knew that Dipper didn't want to be touched at all.

They all walked back to the house in silence. Most of it was awkward, but it was also confusing. They all explained to him to show his anger, but he didn't.

Dipper went to his room and Mabel stayed in the living room. Stan entered to see the rest of them and didn't see him go upstairs.

Stan felt the odd presence that everyone was giving off. Ford had an angry presence.

"Did someone die?" Stan asked.
"Kind of," Grenda said.
"What do you mean kind of?" Stan questioned, "What happened?"
"The children went into my other lab," Ford said.
"In my defense, Waddles went down there and I didn't want to go alone. I asked Dipper to come with me and I didn't want to bother you since you were busy. It couldn't be that bad, right? It's probably a storage room or the basement. If I would have known that there were rotting monster corpses, skeletons, and fucking monsters in jars I wouldn't go down there, especially with Dipper," Mabel said, "I'm just curious why it doesn't smell awful down there."

Stan had to sit down. He was given a lot in a few sentences. Stan took a deep breath and looked at all of them.

"Stan?" Candy said.
"Give me a few more moments," Stan said.
"No one got hurt," Grenda said, "Waddles is fine."
"He was so quiet," Pacifica said, "We were all surprised when he didn't yell at Ford."
"What?" Stan said.
"His eyes changed from blue to that same shade of red," Gideon said.
"Dipper saw with his own eyes a monster die," Mabel said while crossing her arms, "It turned into a flower... then we saw a ghost of a fairy come close to him before leaving."

Stan leaned forward and took a deep breath before getting up and walking to the kitchen. He poured himself a shot of whiskey and drank it before returning to the living room.

"Question, did he say anything before the silence started?" Stan asked.
"Why is that important?" Ford asked, "They went into my lab without asking and I told them that my lab is off limits unless otherwise."
"Just answer the question," Stan calmly said.
"He said that they didn't want to die down there, then Gideon yelled at him asking if he let the monster free. He didn't let it free and then he went quiet. He walked passed us and turned around and asked if he was coming," Mabel explained, "I-I know he's upset."
"That's when the eye glowed happened," Pacifica said, "When he turned around."
"Shit," Stan sighed, "He gets that really pissed angry silence from Maria."
"I've only seen mom super angry once," Mabel said, "No one came out alive after she was done."
"For this group of kids," Stan looked at Gideon, Pacifica, Candy, and Grenda.
"Did you know about the dead monster? Be honest," Stan asked.

None of those kids deserve to be part of that. They were kids...

"We knew that he experimented on them," Candy told him, "I mean sometimes things could die but I never thought he would keep them."
"We've also never been deep inside the lab," Grenda added, "We always came through the back entrance."
"Back entrance?" Stan asked.

Ford created a back entrance and never told Stan.

"You didn't know?" Grenda said.
"I did not," Stan said.
"I stopped going in the lab a long time ago," Pacifica was going to be honest, "I stopped because I realized what he was doing... I walked in deeper into the lab when I wasn't supposed to. I still came to the meetings in the diner to be caught up with everything. It was a slow process."
"Gideon?" Stan looked at him.
"Yes," Gideon answer quickly.

Stan looked at the stairs and then back at everyone.

"Gideon, Pacifica, Grenda, and Candy, I am glad you were honest with me. You know that you don't have to keep doing this, right?"
"I know," Candy, Grenda, and Pacifica said.
"You know that he isn't coming back and there is no evidence that he's coming back," Stan said, "The power on Ford's detector is just Dipper. He has powers that he cannot control and we are trying our best to have them under control."

"We" was Mabel and Stan. He always made sure that Dipper was aware when he would make stuff float. He tried his best since he never thought that his nephew could have powers.

"Pacifica, when was the last time you went into his lab?" Stan asked.
"I slowly stopped coming but I fully stopped last year," Pacifica answered, "It was a slow process before he really noticed."
"Gideon," Stan said, "Are you aware of everything?"
"Yes," Gideon answered.
"I just want to say that you can stop, but I know that I can't tell you guys to do anything. I just don't want you to waste your teenage year on something that isn't possible," Stan told them, "I don't know kids do nowadays, but I know they're having fun."

They were all quiet they thought about what Stan said. They were remember their teenage years. It wasn't as fun as it used to be.

"Mabel, I'm glad you considered my feelings but if you see a random door open you should come to me," Stan held her hand, "We should have been honest with you two from the very beginning. I accept my part in not telling you two everything. We both know that this summer will be one that you won't forget since so many things are happening. I care about you two so much, but that was stupid horror movie shit with the door."
"I'm sorry," Mabel mumbled, "I should have asked you instead of going down there."
"You still have my book," Ford said.
"I do," Mabel held it tight, "It looks like the markings the monsters shown me."

She gave it to Stan and he looked through it.

"I have no clue what these are," Stan said.
"I can trace my necklace over it and it'll do something," Mabel explained, "A monster showed me one that can teleport me."
"Okay," Dipper said.

Stan looked at Ford and through about what he was going to say. He took a deep breath in and out before speaking.

"You are going to clean out your basement because I don't want corpses under the house. There is no debate on that because there dead and I don't want the smell coming up here," Stan said.
"It doesn't smell for some reason and it's confusing," Mabel said.
"You will stop killing the monster because I know that these creatures are smart enough to kill you. I am surprised that they haven't yet. You don't have to keep doing this stuff anymore because we are safe. I don't remember the last time those creatures have hurt anyone," Stan said, "I need you to understand that. By the end of the week if I don't see those things gone I will do it myself and throw away everything."

Ford didn't answer and stormed away. He was wondering what happened to him. When he came back he was nice and the funny. He had changed so much after he brought him back. He was obsessed again and he didn't know if he'll snap out of it this time.

"It's getting late," Stan said, "I'll drive you kids home."
"We can walk home," Candy said.
"It is dark outside and I'm not letting you all walk in the dark. We do live in the woods," Stan made a good point.
"Sweetie, I'll make dinner when I come back," Stan told her, "Check on your brother. Make sure nothing is on fire in his room."
"I will," Mabel said.
"If he's anything like your mother," Stan said, "There is ice cream in the freezer."
"Got it," Mabel said.

They all left the house. Mabel went to his room to see him. She knocked on the door and it was opened. She just saw Dipper sitting on his bed with tears running down his face.

She sat down next to him and sat there with him. She didn't talk at all, but she hugged him as he sobbed in her arms.

She knew that he wasn't going to talk yet. She was fine with that, but she knew that he needed someone to cry on. It was going to be her since he's done that with her more times then she could count.

Mabel knew that he was going to have terrible dreams.
