Eaten Book

Pov Dipper

It's been a few days since Stan made a ban on us trying to figure out the legend. Mabel and I haven't stopped looking for the answer. She's been reading that book the lady from the tent gave us.

I was in my room looking at my journal. For some reason, a certain page kept catching my eyes. It was the one with the little ghost and its dad.  They haven't told me what their species is called, but I've been labeling them as ghost and ghost babies.

"Why do I keep coming back to you?" I sighed.
"BRO!" Mabel opened the door and jumped on top of me, "I think I've cracked it!"
"Mabel, get off of me," I groaned.
"Sorry," She chuckled.

Mabel rolled off of me and went to close the door. She checked if Ford or Stan were outside of the room before locking it. Mabel went over and sat down next to me.

"Look at this page," Mabel pointed at a Greek mythology symbol.
"What does Greek mythology have to do with the legend?" I asked.
"Didn't the mama bear say that they were hybrids in the world," Mabel said.
"Yes," I answered.
"Wouldn't it make sense if... there were human hybrids?" Mabel stated, "I mean these legends of all types of mythology had to come from somewhere. People think that these were stories, but what if these creatures were real."
"Mabel, that... that's," I started to think about it.
"Maybe this is our next clue into solving this mystery! If the mythology that we're taught is true, that means the creatures that we know are real," Mabel said, "The bigger question is, why are the hybrids only in gravity falls?"
"The bubble Mabel!" I said, "The history books say that the only reason why Bill and the other creatures couldn't escape was that there was a magical bubble."
"Wouldn't Bill have known this? It doesn't add up since he's been here since the earth was created," Mabel muttered, "Wouldn't he have known the legend and the bubble?"
"That's a good point," I said, "Wouldn't that also mean that the whole mythology thing would be false?"
"That's the only led we actually have," Mabel whined, "My brain hurts."
"No one told you to re-read that book," I said.
"That's the only lead we have and I'm going with it," Mabel pouted.
"Bill can't be the only creature that has lived since the beginning," I said, "That doesn't make any sense. There is no way that only one creature and be created the same time as the earth was."
"In the book, it says that half-human mortals hid away with the half-monster and half-demon creatures from a dangerous creature." Mabel read out loud, "That they hid in the area where no one can find them. In an area filled with trees and mountains where the creature could not find them."

I looked at my journal and looked at the ghost.

"I know that this monster has been alive for thousands of years," I said, "Maybe he knows something about this."
"We could try," Mabel said, "Do you know where he is?"
"No, but if I find the ghost baby he'll show up," I told Mabel.
"We should ask Bill too," Mabel said, "I mean what if he forgot since he's been alive for so long. I mean if I were to alive for that long I would forget a lot of things."
"Mabel! Pacifica is at the door for you!" Ford shouted.
"Can you do this tomorrow?" Mabel asked politely.
"Of course," I smiled at her, "Good luck."
Mabel blushed, "Shut up."
"I'll keep the book here for now while you hang out with Pacifica," I told her.
"Thanks, bro," Mabel smiled.

Mabel went downstairs. I went to hid my journal and the large book. I laid down in my bed and looked at my arm.

"I should tell Mabel soon," I muttered to myself.

What if I summon Bill... Mabel is hanging out with Pacifica. Ford doesn't come upstairs and Stan only does when Mabel can't come and get me.

I threw myself on the ground and grabbed a piece of paper that was under my bed. I can't draw on the floor since they'll figure out that Bill is alive.

I grabbed a pencil and started to make the Cipher Wheel. I went over to the door to make sure that no one was around the door. I remembered the words that were in the journal

"Triangulum, entangulum. meteforis dominus ventium," I whispered.

The page glowed and then Bill appeared small. I hugged my knees and looked at Bill.

"You look so cute," I muttered, "So small."
"Why did you summon me on a piece of paper?" Bill was so small.
"You're so small and cute," I muttered, "You're basically half the size of the paper."
"Shut up Sapling!" Bill pouted.
"Little Bill," I poked his cheek and he almost bite me, "BILL!"
"I will bite you!" He sounded so cute.
"Bill, you look so cute," I smiled.
"I'll be back," Bill crossed his arms.

Bill left for a second and returned in his regular size. He tackled me and I fell back laughing.

"Sapling, I'm going to trap you because you bullied me," Bill said.
"Oh really?" I said.
"Yes," Bill said.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and smiled at him.

"I guess we're both stuck," I said.
I saw a soft blush form on his face, "I guess we are."

Bill figured out a way to pick me up without falling. He threw me onto the bed and jumped next to me.

"So, Sapling," Bill smiled, "What may I help you with?"
"I just wanted to see you," I smiled as I sat up and leaned against the wall.
"I'm cool with that," Bill said joining me.
"You didn't have to throw me onto the bed," I said.
"You are still under my custody," Bill told me.
"I can easily escape," I told him.
"No, you can't," Bill said.

I was close to escaping until he grabbed my shirt and pulled me towards him. I felt my back against his chest as he held me.

"You will never leave until I leave," Bill whispered.
"I guess I'm here in my room forever," I said, "I don't mind that."

We both started to talk to each other. I enjoyed Bill's company especially since he tells me cool stories... sometimes there stupid stories.

My favorite story is the one with flowers. How some of them eat things that move, some of them glow when happiness is around, how some of them grow into trees with enough love. It reminds me of the stories of mythology. The greek ones, Norse, and some more.

"Pinetree," I felt his fingers stroke my hair, "What are you thinking about? You're making that face..."
"What face?" I said.
"Your eyes wander off," Bill started to describe my face, "Sometimes you crinkle your nose or even nibble on your bottom lip. It's the way your eyes just stare at random things."
"I don't bite my bottom lip," I said.
"You do," Bill mumbled.
"Fine," I pouted.
"Pinetree, what are you thinking about," Bill asked me.
"Do you think mythology was real? You were here since the earth was created," I asked him.

Bill started to hold me tight as I felt his chin on my shoulder.

"I feel like it should be real... I feel like it was," Bill started to explain, "I've been alive for so long that I can't remember everything... sometimes I feel like that part of those memories are missing."
"Mabel thinks that the mythology that we've heard about could have been the real world instead of this one. Wouldn't that be cool?" I told him.
"I wish I could remember it," Bill told me, "If I'm being honest with myself, I think the world is older than me."
"What makes you say that?" I asked him.
"I don't know," Bill mumbled, "Meatsacks say that earth was created on October 23rd... When my powers started to grow stronger it only happened on July 12th."
"Wait, that's only a few days away," I said, "You'll be eighteen soon."
"I guess so," Bill told me.
"Mabel didn't think you were as old as the earth," I told him.
"Really?" Bill said.
"Yeah," I told him.
"I mean she is right," Bill said.
I nuzzled my head into him, "Bill..."
"Yes?" Bill mumbled.

I heard loud stomps coming up the stairs. My heart started to race because I didn't know if it was Mabel or not. I never locked the door...

I quickly turn to Bill and said, "You have to go now."

Third Person

Bill quickly turned invisible. Dipper knew he was since he could still feel him. Dipper pretended that he was on his phone.

"Mason Pines, come downstairs now!" Ford shouted halfway up the stairs.
When he was about to open his door he got a text from his sister, "He found the eaten journal. He's pissed."

He took a deep breath before going downstairs. Technically, he didn't do anything because it wasn't his fault that the bugs found the pages delicious.

Pacifica was sitting awkwardly on the couch and Stan kept Ford to talk about it later since they had a guessed. Bill followed behind making sure he didn't move anything.

"Yes?" Dipper said.
"In the kitchen now," Ford said.
"Sorry Pacifica," Mabel whispered to her before she followed Dipper.

They both went into the kitchen and saw the destroyed book on the table. They both remembered it less damaged than what it was now.

"What did you do to my book?" Ford asked.
"We didn't do anything to your book," Mabel said.
"Mabel, this has nothing to do with you at all. I'm only speaking to Mason," Ford said.
"Ford, we can talk about this later," Stan said, "When you're less angry."
"No, I want to discuss this now," Ford said.
"We have company over, so this isn't the best time," Stan said.
"Why did you destroy my journal?" Ford asked him.
"I didn't destroy your book," Dipper told him, "I didn't even touch it."
"Why are you lying?" Ford said, "I know you touched it because it was in your room when you came here. I left it in there and you must have found it and tore it all up."
"Why would I damage your books?" Dipper asked.
"Why did you break them? I know that the magic did not ruin themselves and then walk downstairs," Ford said.
"I didn't even touch your book," Dipper told him, "Why would I touch your things unless you've asked me to. Which is basically never."
"I don't believe you," Ford said, "You are the only other one in this household that looks into the creatures of this land. I would assume that you would be touching my things."

Mabel could tell that her brother was upset with Ford. Even when he did touch his stuff, he would be careful with it. He would always make sure that nothing would get ruined. The way Ford was saying how he didn't trust Dipper with his stuff further angered him.

He didn't mind that Ford didn't trust him, but the way he was saying it made him furious.

"Grunkle Ford, I was the one that touched your book," Mabel said.

Mabel fully knew that they both touched the book, but they weren't the reason why it was eaten.

"Mabel, don't cover for your brother," Ford said.
"Ford, you are acting like a child," Stan sighed, "Let's talk about this later."
"No," Ford said.
"Why would I ruin your hard work?" He asked him, "Why would I do that? I don't even like it when Mabel draws on the corner of my chemistry notes."
"You said you'll stop bringing that up," Mabel pouted.
"Sorry, Mabel," Dipper said, "It's the only example I can think of."

Bill was watching everything and was becoming upset at Ford. His Sapling would never do that even if he was mad at Ford. He has more classes than that.

The two started to argue. After a few seconds, Dipper has enough.

"Even if I did touch your book why would I put in the effort of putting small holes?" Dipper shouted, "Why would I make small rips?  Instead of spilling water, coffee, or ripping the pages out?"

Bill's eyes widen when he noticed a circle around Dipper's feet. The markings appeared like his Cipher Wheel, but the Pinetree and the Triangle were switched.

"Dipper, calm down," Mabel noticed the strong energy.
"No!" Dipper's eyes glowed as he stared at Ford, "I have every right to be upset! I didn't destroy the book."
"Mason," Stan said.
"What in the world," Ford said.

Bill could tell that this was anger power since that was mainly the one he used. It was strong and Bill couldn't wrap around his head about the Cipher wheel.

Ford and Stan looked at his feet and only saw the Cipher Wheel.

"Dippy," Mabel said.
"I'm going to my room!" Dipper shouted.

Dipper stomped away and unconsciously set the book on fire. Stan went to put it out and Mabel noticed that the floor was on fire too.

Bill quickly followed Dipper. Pacifica saw that the curtain was on fire and went to put it out. Dipper went to his room and locked the door. Bill teleported into his room since he wasn't quick enough.

Dipper was lying down on his bed with his pillow on his face. Bill sat down next to him and placed his hand on his shoulder.

"Sapling," Bill mumbled.
"B-Bill?" Dipper looked up, "You're still here."
"I never left," He told him, "I was invisible."
"You saw everything didn't you?" Dipper muttered.
"I know your still a little upset," Bill said, "Do you want to have a conversation about it?"

Dipper nodded and Bill joined him by laying down next to him. Dipper placed his head on his chest laid there. Bill started to stroke his hair as he started to talk.

"I-I just try so hard to make him like me sometimes," He explained, "He doesn't like me at all and I haven't done anything until recently. He tried to hurt an egg that belonged to a mother, then the ghost babies, and now the journal. His stupid fucking journal."
"Sapling, I don't think he's worth any of your time. He's a dick and he's blaming you on something you didn't do," Bill told him, "He's not fair sometimes... for someone smart he's pretty stupid."
"Why would I even do that to his book? I have no reason to do that because I still wanted to read more of it," Dipper mumbled, "I just- Am I not enough for him?"
Bill hugged Dipper and whispered, "You are enough for yourself... You try super hard for lots of things and that's great. Ford is just some asshole with something up his ass the whole time."
"I just wish he likes me..." He sighed.
"If it counts," Bill started to blush, "I enjoy your company... I like you."
"Thanks, Bill," Dipper smiled softly, "I enjoy your company too... you're amazing for a demon that almost enslaved humanity."

Bill felt Dipper nuzzle onto him more. He smiled and held him. Dipper was calm and he felt less power.
