Chapter six
Jeanette jumped out of her slumber when she heard a knock at the door, she had been sleeping peacefully, but when she heard someone at the door, she was curious. The room was perfectly dark, no hint of light came from the moonless and starless night outside, there was no light in the corridors and it was a dangerously cold night. The door suddenly creaked opened and she sat up like a bullet out of a gun, but she couldn't see anyone there. Frowning, she got out of bed, standing there shivering in her night gown, before wrapping a dressing gown around her shoulders. She began creating a small ball of light to see if she could see something, maybe find out what was there.
"Hello?" She asked tentatively, before turning around, she could hear someone breathing and she wanted to know who was there, and why they were there. It unnerved her that there was something in her room and she didn't know what it was, or why it was.
She let out a scream as a calloused hand wrapped around her mouth and she was lifted off her feet, however her scream was highly muffled and no one heard her. She heard the trapdoor open and as she fought to get away, she hit he head on the side of the door and dizzily tried again to get away. Upon realising that she had been released, she took two steps and fell into the hole, missing the ladder and hitting the ground, head first. She lost consciousness immediately.

"Ow." Jeanette grumbled loudly, as she let out a groan, opening her eyes and staring at her surroundings, there wasn't much to see, as she was sat in pitch black darkness. The only indication to anyone else being around her was the fact that she could hear chains moving across from her, and with the temporary loss of her sight, her other senses had been heightened, and her hearing was picking up more things now, she could hear each breath the person opposite her took, and she assumed that it was the same for them.
"Jenny? Thank god you're awake! I thought they'd done something to you." Cameron's voice cut sharply through the silence, he seemed to be chained up opposite her, she could hear his voice clearly and hear the chains moving, she frowned, before trying to move, and realising she too was chained up, but she couldn't feel them, it took her a moment to realise they merely rested on top of the sleeve of her dressing gown. She was glad she still wore it, as it was cold down in the tunnels, as that was where Jeanette had guessed they were.
"Cameron? How did we get down here? Have they got any of the others?" She began questioning him at once, he shook his head at her, but upon realising she couldn't see him, he spoke.
"Jenny, Jenny calm down, I don't know how they got us down here, and they have Ethan, they took him out of here a few minutes before you woke up. They don't have Nathan. And it is them, it is Miss Eagle and Miss Cuckoo." She froze, trying to comprehend what he had just informed her.
"She's really back." Jeanette whispered, fear in her voice, Cameron nodded again, he wasn't used to being in all darkness and attempting to communicate with someone at the same time.
"I thought we were finally safe Jenny, but no, she's back, we were never really safe, she'll always chase us, until we get rid of her, for good." He said. She nodded.
"How do we get out of this?" she asked him, he shrugged.
"The way we got out last time, with the help of Ethan's peculiarity." Cameron answered, Jeanette bit her lip.
"What if he doesn't come back?" She asked, Cameron made a strange noise, as though that was one thing he really didn't want to think about.
"We don't have very many options; we just have to hope he comes back." He answered, she nodded and leaned her head back against the hard, stone wall. Her head hurt, but the chains restricted her from moving her hands to see and feel how bad her injury was.
"I guess we wait then." She told him, he nodded.
"Have faith Jenny."
She smiled. "Have faith Cameron."

The sound of harsh metal clanking awoke both Cameron and Jenny, and they saw a shadowy figure leave the room, a torch in their hand, after chaining someone up in the end of the room.
"E-Ethan?" Jeanette asked timidly, hoping she was right.
"Jenny? Cameron?" Ethan's voice cut through the darkness. "They haven't got Nathan have they?" He added. This was the first time they had heard Ethan have concern for his brother in a long time.
"No, it's just us, are you okay?" Cameron answered.
"I'm okay, that's good, I mean at least he doesn't have to go through this." Ethan said, both nodding in agreement.
"Ethan, we have to get out of here." Jeanette said urgently." Can you use your peculiarity?"
"it'll take a long time; I don't have a lot of strength." Ethan answered.
"It's okay, as long as you can get us out." Cameron said.
"But if you can't do it, tell us, we'll figure out another way- "Jeanette began, but Ethan cut her off.
"I can do this Jenny; I can save us." Ethan announced, before they heard a loud SNAP! As the chains binding him to the wall broke. He grinned and got up, managing to make his way to Jeanette and crouching in front of her.
"I need light Jenny." He told her, she nodded.
"I got it." She grinned, the usual ball of light appeared, and she saw his face in front of her.
"Are you okay?" He asked, she nodded as he wrapped his arms around the chains at her wrists. She nodded as ice slowly spread from his hands.
"I am now." He smiled at her as she said this.
As soon as the chains snapped, Ethan pushed them away from her and pulled her up, hugging her as soon as he had done so.
"Come on, let's save Cam and get out of here." She said, walking with him over to where Cameron was, bringing the light with her.
"You alright Cam?" Ethan asked his cousin as he started freezing the chains, Cameron nodded and allowed Ethan to help him up as soon as he was free.
"How do we get out from here?" Jeanette asked, all three looked at each other.
"Let's just go for it, how hard can it be?" Ethan asked, how wrong he was.
However, they did manage it, it took at least five hours, and a few arguments, but they made it to Jenny's room, to see everything packed up, the room was practically empty.
"Jenny! Cameron! Ethan! We need to clean the boat!" Alice appeared at the door to Jeanette's room, just after they had closed the trapdoor.
"What happened to you?" She asked, noticing the cut on Jeanette's head, the blood on Cameron's shirt and the bruise on Ethan's jaw.
"It doesn't matter." Ethan said, earning a nod from Jeanette and Cameron.
"We'll be down in a moment, thank you Alice." Jeanette smiled at the small, blonde girl, earning a smile in return.
"Okay, and Jenny, Enoch wants you to meet him when you get on the boat, he wants to talk to you about something, he'll be on the top deck." Alice added, before skipping off down the stairs, both Ethan and Cameron stared at her.
"What was that?" Cameron asked with a smirk.
"We're just friends." Jeanette defended herself.
"Yeah, yeah." Cameron laughed, ruffling her hair. "That's my girl."
Ethan said nothing, just frowned at her.
"Ethan?" Jeanette asked him with concern.
"You got a boyfriend and didn't tell me?" He asked with a grin. Jeanette sighed and walked to the door.
"We're just friends." She repeated. "I hate you both." She added with a small smile.
"You love us!" The two yelled after her, she scoffed, causing them to laugh and run after her, appearing on either side of her and wrapping their arms over her shoulders, pulling her into a rather uncomfortable group hug.
"You love us Jenny, admit it!" Cameron said. She sighed.
"I love you both." She told them.
"She admitted it Cam." Ethan grinned.
"I knew it." Cameron added.
"We're safe now Jenny, there's no way they can get us!" Ethan added, Jeanette touched both of their cheeks and they both did the same to her.
"I don't know what I'd do without you guys." She muttered.
"I don't know what I'd do without you Jenny." Both Cameron and Ethan said at the same time.
All three laughed, and made their way down to the pier together, still in their strange sort of group hug.
