Chapter Four

Percy's POV

Annabeth had explained her conversation with Reyna and Thalia yesterday morning. Needless to say Percy was concerned. If Zeus was angry something big had to have happened. What was worse, was that Jason had been complaining about headaches as well. It had gotten so bad that Piper had to convince him to talk to Chiron. Jason then went to see Will who gave him some wierd smelling concoction.

"Don't worry so much Percy." Annabeth tried to comfort him but it hardly worked. Annabeth and Percy were sitting on his cabin roof watching the frost spread. It had grown larger at night and now blanketed the while field.

"It's just that, whenever something goes wrong we have to get involved. Just because Zeus can't solve his own problems, of keep his temper in check." Percy fumed. Annabeth rested her head on his shoulder. The other campers had noticed their anxiety along with Piper and Jason's. Leo being oblivious had yet to catch on. In fact Leo was out on the field currently melting the ice.

"I haven't heard from Thalia or Reyna. That's a good thing, if means nothing drastic has happened." Annabeth fitted her hand in his giving it a firm squeeze. Light footsteps offered behind them causing Percy to turn and look over his shoulder.

"Sorry to interrupt but I can't take it anymore." Piper looked to be on the verge of desperation. "Jason is killing me! I'm constantly having to get more of that disgusting drink for him and he won't stop complaining."

Annabeth laughed patting the spot next to her. Piper plopped down with a satisfied sigh. "I mean I should probably be helping him, and I've tried but at this point it's getting worse. Not to mention the entire campus has tried to hunt me down and ask for details."

"Oh, sorry I didn't think there would be so many people up here." It was Calypso this time. She gave a bashful smile and was about to climb down when Percy waved her up. "Sorry, Annabeth but I was told to get Percy. Leo says he's ready to pass out from exhaustion."

"It's fine, if Leo needs a break, he needs a break." Annabeth smiled. Sighing Percy kissed Annabeth on the head and gave Piper a reassuring smile before climbing down the side of his cabin. Jogging out to the field where Leo was waiting Percy couldn't help but grumble on the inside. He had been rotating with Leo since yesterday between thawing the creek and the field. At least it hadn't spread to the Strawberries.

"Oh thank Gods you came!" Leo exclaimed turning his face up to the sky like he was praying. "My arms feel like they're going to fall off!"

"Yeah well don't go to far, I may need you." Percy joked. Leo quickly ran off glad to have some free time. "Alright you little frost monsters lets get this picked up."

Percy gradually moved down the field thawing the ice and disposing of the water by tossing it into the woods. It was excruciatingly slow progress. If he didn't do it just right the areas he had just unfroze would be covered in frost yet again. Bored as he was Percy managed to find some solace in running and skidding on the frost covered grass. In fact with a little practice he was able to turn a full three sixty on one foot. At some point the Stoll brothers joined him in the ice skating fiasco. As it turns out the two bothers were better than Percy. They offered to help but Percy waved them off. Using shovels wasn't going to solve the problem.

The conch horn pierced the air in a high pitched note. Complete relief washed through Percy as he sprinted away from the field practically skipping and singing. Only as he headed towards the sound of the conch horn, he noticed a crowd gathering by the hill. Confused he jogged over pushing people out of the way to see what was going on. Naturally his mind jumped to terrible conclusions but as he broke away from the mass of people he saw that the only reason of concern was Thalia's please help me, look.

Jason was in the middle of crushing her in a hug and Annabeth looked like she could hardly contain herself. From the look on Thalia's face I could tell that just like Jason she was feeling the effects of the weather. Jason pulled back beaming but it wasn't a couple of seconds later that Annabeth grabbed Thalia by the arm and dragged her into camp. Thalia whispered something to Annabeth who nodded in understanding and the two of them made their way to where Will was standing.

"Gee, thanks for saying hello. Oh hey Percy, good to see you little cus. Oh it's great seeing you too Thalia!" Percy joked before shaking his head and catching up with the girls.

"So, what brought you here?" Percy asked as the group of four walked to the infirmary. Thalia sighed sending a sideways glance to Annabeth who just snickered.

"Artemis told me to come here. I'm not super clear on the details but I'll tell you more after my head stops screaming at me." She stated with an irritated tone.

"Is it the weather that's making her cranky?" Percy asked leaning over to ask Annabeth.

"Yeah, just like Jason." Annabeth smiled before giving a worried glance in Thalia's direction. Annabeth caught Percy's arm pulling him to a stop as Thalia and Will entered the infirmary. "Percy this really has me worried."

"What do you mean? Isn't she always like this when the weather is wierd?" Percy asked furrowing his brow in confusion.

"No, most of the time she's fine. But this time it's Thalia and Jason. Not only that but apparently Artemis said something about an angry God. If Thalia and Jason are this affected I'm assuming it's Zeus." Annabeth whispered as other campers walked past shooting the couple glances.

"And when Zeus's mad bad things usually follow for us." Percy sighed running a hand through his hair. "Let's just hope it's something temporary. Maybe my Hades said he was Rhea's favorite."

"Ha-ha, Seaweed Brain." Annabeth rolled her eyes before looping her arm around Percy's back. The two entered the infirmary to find Will with an exasperated look and Thalia holding a flask like Jason's.

"Drink it and it'll help." Will urged. Thalia hesitantly sniffed it wich resulted in her nose wrinkling up in disgust.

"You want me to drink this?" Thalia exclaimed.

"Yes, it's worked for Jason." Will sighed crossing his arms. Thalia shook her head laughing.

"Here Kelp Head smell this and tell me what you think." Percy hesitantly reached out and grabbed the flask. He lifted it up to his nose and gave a quick sniff. His nostrils seemed to be lit on fire. Whatever was in the flask smelled like sweaty shoes, with hot sauce, and cheese, if you can imagine that.

"What is this stuff?" Percy gagged. "And how in Hades is Jason drinking this?"

"Well we were going to try nectar or ambrosia but I asked Chiron. He said that it wasn't something severe enough, and that unless I wanted to burn Jason to ashes I come up with something else." Will shrugged.

"And this is what you came up with?" Percy asked receiving a condescending slap on the arm from Annabeth. Percy passed the flask eagerly back to Thalia who didn't seem too keen on taking it.

"Well, bottoms up." Thalia winced bringing the horrible mixture to her lips and taking a swig. It must have been bad seeing as how her eyes watered. "Ugh!"

"There now come back at dinner and tomorrow morning. It should last a few hours." Will stated as Thalia practically hurled the flask at him.

"I'm coming back after dinner so that when I throw up you get to clean it up." Thalia joked seeming to already be in better spirits. Will winced at the idea of it.

"Please don't." He pleaded as Thalia sprang to her feet and marched out of the infirmary.

"Guess that stuff is magic." Percy smiled with a shrug. Thanking Will for Thalia's sake he put his hand in Annabeth's and followed the daughter of Zeus towards her cabin. Once inside Thalia dusted off her sleeping corner and plopped down, crossing her legs.

"Sit down guys it's story time." Percy and Annabeth sat themselves down and Jason who was also in the cabin made his way over.

"So what exactly happened?" Annabeth asked.

"Where do you want me to start?" Thalia raised an eyebrow studying the three listeners.

"I guess from yesterday morning." Percy concluded having missed the iris message between Annabeth, Reyna, and Thalia. Thalia explained the iris message quickly including Reyna's fair share of information.

"After that I slept for a while." Thalia faltered for a moment before recovering her story. "When I woke up I saw Artemis. She told me to come to camp that Will or Chiron would be able to help with the headaches. I asked her what was going on, if Dad was angry. She told me he was upset but it was someone else that was angry."

"Did Artemis specify or drop any hints?" Annabeth asked the wheels in her head turning.

"No. That's all that happened." Jason cleared his throat at his sisters conclusion.

"What happened when you were sleeping?" He asked sounding almost like a parent. Thalia bristled at this and straightened her spine like Jason had just given her a challenge.

"Nothing, I told you I sent to sleep." Thalia protested and the two of them had a staring contest. Thalia's death glare was much more frightening than Jason's. Jason sighed breaking eye contact first.

"Fine. I believe e you." Thalia smirked triumphantly, relaxing like she had before.

"I don't." Annabeth sighed. "You had a dream didn't you?"

This caught Thalia off guard. Sometimes it was like Thalia forgot just how much she and Annabeth knew about each other. Thalia glowered messing with the zipper on her hunting jacket. "And if I did?"

"Spill it now." Annabeth ordered, Thalia conceded awkwardly stating the details of her nightmare.

"I can't make sense of it. There isn't a pattern or anything significant, I didn't think I needed to share it but whatever you can make of it is better than what I've got." Annabeth fingered the coral pendant on her necklace.

"It could have something to do with the ice here but that's all I can think of right now?" She sighed in frustration.

Percy frowned getting to his feet. Sure enough a fist started banging on the cabin door. The four got to their feet and flung it open. It was Malcolm a worried expression painting his features.

"Sorry to interrupt the reunion but I think you're going to want to see this." Malcolm gestured for Percy and the rest to follow him. What is it this time? Percy thought. Percy followed Malcolm to the lake where a few campers had been gathering and whispering in concern. As Percy got closer his heart skipped a beat.

Way out in the lake Percy could see what was happening. Ice was spreading over the water a lot quicker than it had for the creek. The lake was freezing over at a rapid speed. In a matter of seconds the lake's surface was nothing but solid ice. Percy looked to Annabeth who was staring wide eyed at the lake. "Why do I feel that what we're dealing with here isn't a small matter?"
