Chapter 7: The Wolf?!

I let out a long groan, sleepily as I walked out of my house with my bag. I locked the door and kept the keys in my pocket. Damn, I couldn't sleep last night. That stupid Wolf just had to call me then doesn't he? I shot him on the shoulder once and now, I hung up on his phone?! I'm definitely screwed. Thank God, I know what he looks like, unlike others. I went to Will's car, yawning and sat down on my usual seat.

"Didn't sleep yesterday or something?" Will asked.

"No," I said, rubbing my eyes.

I looked over to the driver's seat but instead of Will, it was a handsome blond guy with crimson eyes.

"Hey there," the guy said.

I shrieked in panic and tried to get out of the car but the guy locked the door, trapping me here. I slapped my face and took a deep breath to calm myself and I counted from one to ten in my mind to calm myself.

I cleared my throat and looked at the man. "Hi," I said.

"Hello, Ashley," he said, smiling at me.

Will burst out laughing. "Ashley?!" he said.

"Wait, that's not your name?"

"It's Ashton," I said, disappointed that he got my name wrong when he knew me for two years.

"Oh, sorry," he said, smiling nervously. He's not here to get revenge, is he?

"Uh... h-how do you two know each other?" I asked.

"This is my idiot of a brother," Will said, looking at the Wolf in disgust.

"What?! You're the Wolf's brother?!!" I asked, regret soon after. I shouldn't have said that out loud!

The Wolf's face turned serious. "How do you know I'm the Wolf?" he asked in a scary tone.

"It's too obvious!! You were called the Green-eyed Wolf in my previous group, left, came back half a month later with red contacts, a mask and a similar name!" I said.

The Wolf opened his mouth to say something but then let out a sigh. "I guess, it was," he said, folding his arms. "You didn't tell anyone about my identity, didn't you?" He was glaring at me with cold eyes.

"No!"

"Okay, good," he said, smiling brightly.

"Are we leaving or not?!" Will said, grumpily.

"Yeah, yeah. The name is Vernon Hemmings, by the way," he said, extending his hand for me to shake.

I smiled and shook it. "Nice meeting you," I said.

"I bet you're cringing because of my name," Vernon said, driving.

"Not really," I said.

"I am," Will said, snickering.

"Shut the f:*k up, 'Will' ya," Vernon said. I laughed at the pun.

"How dare you!" Will said, angrily.

"We're going to Jenny's, right?"

"Yeah," Will said. "It's gonna be congested in the back."

"My car, my rules," Vernon said. He stopped the car at Jenny's house and got out of the car.

"Where's he going?" I asked Will.

"Going to act like a good kid in front of Jenny's parents," Will said, annoyed. "He's planning on going and knocking on their door instead of using the horn."

"I think the horn is better," I said.

"Same," Will said, leaning back on his seat, crossing his legs with a small smile.

I looked at Vernon and he was talking to Jenny's mother, who was having a really bright smile on her face. A pair of twins, who I think are Jenny's sisters, came over and said something before coming over to the car. Will sat up and lowered the window of his seat.

"The Kingsley twins," Will said, smiling.

The twins were identical but one of them is thin and hot like a model while the other wasn't as she was kinda fat (I'm not being rude). She looks so adorable that you hug her. The model twin had her long hair opened and she wore a pink skirt with a white shirt. The other one had her hair braided neatly and she wore a red frock.

"Hey, Will," the model twin said. She sounds really confident while speaking. "You must be Ashton Crawford."

"Yeah, that's me," I said, smiling at them.

"I'm Hope and this is my twin sister, Faith. Nice meeting ya," she said, smiling brightly. Faith waved at me and I gave her a smile.

"Oh! My boyfriend's here," Hope said, noticing a sportscar, speeding to them. "We better go. Bye!"

"Bye, girls," Will said.

"Bye," I said, watching them leave. "Hope and Faith. That's a cool name for a pair of twins."

"I agree. It's so cool," Will said.

The door to the driver's seat opened and Vernon got back on the wheel. Jenny joined Will on the back of the car and the Wolf began driving.

" 'Sup, Ash," Jenny said, smiling.

" 'Sup," I said.

"Hey! No ''Sup, Will'?" Will asked.

"You don't deserve a ''sup' from me, kid," Jenny said, folding her arms.

"Fine."

I checked the time. Something tells me we're gonna be late. Oh well.

"Who's house should I stop in front of?" Vernon asked.

"Chase's," Will said. "Aria is b*#chy."

"And Chase isn't?"

"He's an a*s."

"Agreed," I said.

Vernon took the turn which lead to the neighbourhood Aria and Chase lived in and I noticed that they were sitting on the front step of Chase's house while talking to each other. They stood up and came over to the car, when they saw it.

"Hey, Vernon. Long time no see," Aria said, sitting between Jenny and the door. She knows him too?

"Um...." Chase said, not knowing how to ask to Will to give him space.

Will scooted closer to Jenny, holding his head low, nervously as he blushed madly, and Chase sat down next to him and he closed the door. Is Will crushing on Jenny?! That's be cute. I kinda feel bad for him. She is asexual and also treats him like her brother so I don't think she'll be interested in him in that way.

"You kids have enough place to sit?" Vernon asked.

"Wait... you're... the guy who you shot," Chase said with wide eyes, pointing at me when he said, 'you'.

"You shot Vernon?!" the girls said, gasping.

"Hey, hey! It was an accident!" I protested.

"I doubt it," Vernon said, faking a small smile before continuing to drive. He's definitely here for revenge. "I'll discuss that with you over the phone tomorrow. Better not hang up like last time." I gulped in fear.

"Is he your brother?" Chase asked Will.

"Yeah," Will mumbled, his pale cheeks brushed with a light pink tint.

"Crawford, I forgot to ask you about the assignment. Did you do it?" Aria asked me.

My eyes went wide. "There was an assignment?!" I asked, shocked.

"I didn't know either," Will said.

"I knew but I was too lazy, so I didn't do it," Jenny said, "and now I regret it."

"I did it," Chase said, proudly.

"GIVE ME!!" we said in union.

"I said first!" Aria said.

"I said second!" I said.

"I'm the oldest!" Will said.

"I'm Spartacus!!" Jenny said, amusingly.

We became silent at her comment. "What the f*ck, Jenny?" Will said, staring at her blankly.

"What? I had to," Jenny said, smiling proudly.

"Ah... the youth," Vernon said, sighing. "You guys better study well if you wanna get to college next year."

"I'm planning on staying in high school. I don't wanna go to business school like you," Will said, grumpily.

"Hey, don't say that!" Vernon said, angrily.

"Whatever." He sounds sad. Maybe it's a family matter.

There was a short silence in the car for a while. Chase broke it by saying,

"So no one wants?"

"ME!!" the four of us said, quickly.

"Hear he! Hear he! All third years! Hear he!" LJ shouted, standing on top of our table with Lupita, sitting on his head.

"Can't you find another table, d•*khead?!" Will shouted, angrily.

I noticed JL running to our table and getting on top of the table with his friend.

"'Sup guys," JL said to us, smiling goofily. "Yo, Will~" Will scowled at him.

"As Halloween is coming up in a few days, we, the representatives of the Cultural Club, are planning an Escape room in school for the third years!!" LJ shouted. Everyone cheered happily at the announcement. "Those who are interested can give their names to the heads of the club, JL and me, at the club room, before the day of the programme, which is on, not 31st but, 30th this month!! Rules will be announced on 29th!!" Everyone howled and applauded.

"Thank you!!" JL shouted, taking Lupita in his arms. The duck was staring right through my very soul. The blue-heads jumped down from the table. "You guys interested?"

"Heck, yeah!" Aria said, excitedly.

"Count me in!" Jenny said.

"What 'bout you, dawg?" LJ asked, placing his hand on my shoulder.

"Hm.... I'll think about it," I said, smiling.

"Okay. Chase? Will?" JL asked.

"Sure," Chase said.

"I guess I could," Will said.

"Awesome! Since you guys allowed us to use your table, we'll tell you the rules beforehand," JL said.

"You guys didn't even ask!!" Will said, glaring at them.

"But still. Okay, the rules are kinda simple. Costume are mandatory, no breaking of school property and the game is played in pairs. One of you might wanna find someone cuz there's five of you. Only third years students will be there plus the juniors of the club. We'll be spreading out chits and stuff and you gotta find the key to a treasure chest, which is gonna have a prize."

"What's the prize?" Aria asked, excitedly.

"You'll see," LJ said.

"The school cameras will be on," JL continued, "so no silly business. We'll be kicked out of the club and you guys will get detention if you do."

"I guess we could do all the club members a favour," Will said, coldly.

JL sighed deeply. "What your problem, Will?" he asked, annoyed.

"You, obviously."

"Anyways, there'll be jump-scares and stuff. We wanna make it like a haunted house," LJ said.

Lupita quacked loudly making everyone look over to us. That duck is scary, if you ask me.

"Aww~ I bet she's hungwy~" JL said, talking to her as if she's a baby while scratching her head.

Jenny caressing its back and her eyes went wide. "It's so soft!" she said, surprised.

"SHE!!!" LJ and JL corrected her, angrily.

I slowly brought my hand to caress her back but then she turned her head and bit my hand. I screamed, quickly moving my hand away and Aria, Chase and Jenny were laughing their butts off. Will facepalmed himself in embarrassment. Can't blame him though.

"She's still learning," LJ said, smiling brightly.

"I can see that!" I said. The duck was still staring at me. I bet she's gonna haunt my dreams.

"Okay then, we'll be on our way. Got a lot of planning to do," JL said.

"Good luck," Chase said.

"You too," LJ said, smiling slyly before leaving. Is it gonna be that scary? I don't wanna go.

"FINALLY!" Will said. "Those blue-heads are annoying!"

"I don't think they are," Chase said.

"You don't get to comment, Chase. You find the most annoying people kind and all," he said.

"Chillax, Will," Jenny said, calming him down. Hmm~ Suspicious. "Any plans on costumes?"

"I have a Harley Queen costume," Aria said, raising her hand.

"That's nice," I said. That would suit her a lot.

"I think I have a vampire costume," Chase said, unsure.

"Can't I go as myself?" Will asked, sadly. "I have a lot of cool outfits."

"I'm sure you can come up with something out of them," Aria said.

"You're right," he said. "What about you, Ash?"

"I don't know," I said. "I might wanna check if I have anything."

"Same," Jenny said.

"Oh okay," Will said.

"What about the pairing?" Chase asked.

"I'm going with ma sister, Aria," Jenny said, putting her arm over her shoulder.

"Yeah," Aria said, doing the same, smiling equally as bright as Jenny.

"NO!" Will said, quickly. We gave him a confused look and he cleared his throat. "Uh... I mean it like I don't wanna pair with these guys. So..."

"Why not?" Chase asked. He knows too. I'm sure of it.

"Do I need a reason?" Will asked.

"Why don't we discuss this later or on the day of the event?" I said, helping him out.

"Thank you, Crawford," Aria said.

Will held his head low, turning into a blushing mess, his hair covering his green eyes. Damn, he's crushing on her too badly. This is like watching a romance anime but in real life!

Will's POV

I opened my closet and searched for something that could resemble an anime character or something. I have to dress to impress! I scattered my clothes all over the floor as I searched for a suitable outfit and nothing was coming to me. The door opened and it was my dad. Oh f*^k.

"Vernon, have you seen my-" He paused when he saw me. "What are you doing?"

"Stuff," I said, continuing my job, trying not to piss him off.

He sat down on the floor and began going through my clothes. So annoying. "Why do have this?" he asked, picking up my shirt. It was a blue leopard print shirt with a long neck which could show your chest.

I clenched my jaw and let out a long sighed through my nose. "Because I bought it?" I said, trying to say as calm as possible.

"Thank God I didn't find a skirt here," he said. That b*str▪︎d.

"You came searching for something. What is it?"

"Don't change the topic, young man," he said, pointing at me.

"Young man? When did you start calling me that? Didn't get an insult to say?" I asked, coldly.

"Watch your tone!" he said, emphasising every words.

"Do we really have to piss each other off like this?" I asked him, tired of fighting with him like this.

"Do really have to-" He paused on his words.

"Go on. Why'd you stop? I'm totally used to all your hateful words at this point," I said. "Afterall, it's been years."

"Dad." I looked over his shoulder and saw Vernon with concerned.

He quickly stood from the floor. "Ah! Vernon, my boy. Do you know where my phone's charger is?" he asked, smiling at the son, who he loves oh-so-dearly.

"It's in mom's make up drawer," I said, before my brother could answer.

"Thanks," he said, scowling at me before leaving.

Vernon closed the door and came over to me. "What did he do this time?" he asked, worried.

"Why do you care?" I said, my voice cracking a bit.

"I'm your brother, Will," Vernon said, firmly. "Tell me what he did."

"Nothing," I said, my grip on the closest shrit tightening.

"Whatever he said or did, don't take it to the heart. Okay?" he said, placing his hand on my shoulder.

"You tell this to me all the time." My lips began to quiver. "I still can't do it, Vernon. All those words he says, they hurt as if I've been stabbed with a thousand knives." I felt my vision blurring with my tears which I held back.

"I'm sure he doesn't mean it," he said. He's not helping, but at least he's trying and I'm glad he still is.

I smiled at him. "I know, I know," I said, knowing that Dad means it in every way. "He just needs time adjusting, I guess."

"Yeah. So, what are you doing?"

"I'm searching for an outfit for Halloween," I said, rummaging through my clothes.

"Lemme guess. The Cultural Clubs usual treasure hunt for third years?"

"I don't remember you having it."

"I did. I was paired with Rose," he said, smiling.

"Ah." I shouldn't be talking about her. It just makes him sad.

"Hey, you didn't show me your recent designs yet," Vernon said, smiling at me excitedly.

A genuine smile lit up my face. "I thought you'd bever ask," I said.
