Chapter 1: I NEED A NAME!

I groaned in frustration as I held my head with my hands.

I NEED A NAME!!

I looked down to my book and sighed. This is why I hate the beginning of stories. We have to find names and make characters. I already struggled to create the main guy 'Ace Clemence' and now I just need a name for the main girl.

I looked at my book and began to think of a name....

UGH!! WHY IS THIS SO HARD?!

"Ash. Ash. Ash." I heard someone call me from the background. "ASHTON!!"

"WHAT?!" I asked, angrily after coming back to my senses, turning to the black-haired guy sitting behind me.

"Whatcha doin'?" Chase asked, smiling.

I gave him a blank look. "I'm trying to figure out a name," I said, turning back forward.

He went and stood beside me and read the part I already wrote.

What's with the blank?" he asked.

"As I said, I'm thinking of a name."

"Seriously, you suck when it comes to names," he said.

He's right. I don't come up with names. Instead, I copy names and modify them like for instance, the main character of my book is named Ace Clemence and I actually got that name from my friend, Chase Clemence, over here.

"Why don't you ask some people for their names?" he said.

"I would, but I want a girl's name," I said, sadly. "And you know how girls are allergic to me."

"I'll ask some for you," he said, smiling brightly.

Chase is the most popular guy in school and I think he even has a private 'Chase' fanclub made by the girls in our school just so that the girls can stalk after Chase as a group. Could be true.

First of all, he rejects everyone who confesses because he's not interested in dating.

Second of all, he's really dense when in comes to normal things and if you ask me about his studies, then he's somehow the top of every single class.

Third of all, he's a bit of a softie. He can be really emotional at times and can be really naiive sometimes.

And the main reason girls are after him is because of his looks which led him to his popularity and he is the perfect boyfriend material. As if anyone's gonna get a chance with him, look at the first reason in case you're wondering why.

"Dude, it's lunch time right now," he said.

"Fine," I said, standing up. I kept my book in my bag and took out my ideas notepad and kept it in my pocket. "Let's go."

♡♡♡♡♡

"What about Genevive?" Chase asked, pointing his fork at me.

"Too long and old," I said, before sipping on my juice box.

"Lily?"

"Too common."

"Dawn?"

"Too weird."

"Zara?"

I paused. "That sounds nice," I said.

"Finally!"

"But I used that name in one of my other short story," I said, giving him a blank look.

Chase groaned in annoyance. "You've got to be kidding me!!"

"Nope. Not at all."

"You know what? Why don't you search some names in Joogle?" he said.

"Nah, they don't have good names there," I said, before taking a bite from my sandwich.

"What's name of the book, anyways?" Chase asked, his mouth filled with bread.

"I don't know yet," I said, shrugging. "I usually name the book when it's done."

"Ok then, let's continue!" he said. "Courtney?"

"Nope."

"Abigail?"

"You're as horrible as I am at names, you know that?" I said, bluntly.

"Hey, at least I got something unlike you," he said, smirking.

"I'm gonna go to the washroom," I said, standing up from my seat. "And don't you dare try to steal my fries. I worked really heard to make that."

"Fine," he said, lowering his head sadly.

I went the washroom to washed my face like I always do when I don't get any ideas. I wiped my face on the sleeve ofy hoodie (like the lazy person I am) and went out of the washroom. I began to walk in the middle of the corridor as I thought of names, with my hands in my pockets.

Should I ask someone? Should I Joogle search for a name? How the hell will I be a novelist if I'm clueless about names?!! I shouldn't copy, I should be making them!!

"HEY, YOU BAST*RD!! WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING!!" An angry female voice shouted.

I quickly came back to my senses and saw a girl, probably my age, sitting on the floor. She had long hazel hair with angry purple eyes. She looks really pretty in my opinion.

"What are you doing on the floor?" I asked, confused.

She looked even more pissed more pissed off. "Seriously?!" she said, angrily. "You think I'm stupid to sit on the floor like this?!"

Now's my chance. "What's your name, miss?" I asked, awkwardly.

"Aria Benson," she said, still glaring at me. "Is this how you treat a person? Aren't you gonna help me up or anything?"

I ignored her rants. Aria Benson. Aria Benson. Bria Benson. Bria-

"BRIA ANSON!" I shouted, happily.

"What?" she asked, furrowing her eyebrows.

"BRIA ANSON!!" I shouted again. I took her hand and shook it frantically. "Thank you!! Thank you so much!!"

I let go of her hand and began to walk to the cafeteria, happily. But then I realized what I did, instead of helping her up and stopped walking. I sighed deeply. I'm such an idiot, aren't I? I turned back and saw the girl named Aria Benson, talking to a short, thin guy with blond hair and emerald eyes who had a concerned look. I think his name was Wallace or something like that. Oh, well. As long as she's alright.

I went over to Chase, who was staring at the fries on my plate, and gave him a blank look.

"What the hell are you doing?" I asked.

"Can I have them? They're too tempting and you know how I love the food you make," Chase said, looking at me innocently with his crimson eyes.

"No."

"Pretty please," he pleaded.

I groaned in frustration. "Fine."

"Thank you!!" he said, taking some my fries and keeping them on his plate.

"I found a name," I said, happily as I sat down.

"That's great," he said, eating the fries. "What is it?"

"It's Bri-"

"Ashton Crawford." I heard a voice say behind me.

My eyes widened a bit. What the-

I turned around to see who it was and it was that Wallace guy and he doesn't look very happy. His emerald eyes were shining with rage and I know I'm in trouble. He held my shirt's collar, tightly in anger and I looked at him with a confused look because of his sudden action.

"Was that any way to treat a lady? Huh?" he said in a tone which purely showed anger.

Chase stood tall from his seat, making Wallace's angry gaze turn to him, and glared at him.

"Hey! Let go of him, Will. Nothing can be solved with violence," he said in an intimidating tone which I know doesn't work that well. I can actually hear girls from the tables beside ours squealing.

"SHUT UP, A#^HOLE!!" Wallace, I mean, Will shouted, pointing his finger at Chase with his other hand.

I held his wrist and pulled his hand away from my collar but I didn't let go of it. I glared him and he did the same.

"Why're you here?" I asked, coldly as my grip on his wrist became tighter.

"Ashton!" Chase said, telling me to stop.

Will pulled his wrist back when I loosened my grip and I know he feels pain from my grip. He's a really thin guy so it's obviously.

"Are you gonna answer me?" I asked.

Will let out a sarcastic laugh. "What if I don't?" he said, getting in my nerve.

I held back the urge to punch him with a deep breath.

"Could you leave, please?" Chase asked.

"Tsk!" Will clicked his tongue in annoyance before turning to leave but I stopped him in the middle.

"P*ssy," I said to him.

Will turned to me with an angry smile. "Do me a favour, will ya?"

"What?" I asked.

"Could you go kill yourself? That way you can contribute in the decrease in population. Besides, no one's gonna miss ya when you're gone," he said, coldly with a smirk before walking away.

I remained silent at his comment and sat down on my seat and continued to eat. Why do I feel annoyed?

"Hey. Don't take his comment to the heart. I'm sure he doesn't mean it," Chase said, trying to make me feel better.

"I didn't," I said, getting a bit pissed off.

"Why did that guy come at you?" Chase asked, concerned.

I shrugged. "I dunno. I asked a girl for name. It was Aria Benson."

(A/N:- It's pronounced 'Ar-eye-a'.)

"Now, that's a beautiful name," he said, pointing at me.

"I know right?!" I said, sitting on the edge of my seat. "I even made up my character's name with that."

"You got a name?"

"Bria Anson," I said, smirking proudly as I leaned back on my chair.

Chase wrinkled his nose with disgust. "Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't think that's a good name for a children's book."

"That's because this isn't a children's book," I said.

"You finally decided to make an actual novel?!" Chase asked, happily.

"Yep."

"I'm happy for you, Ash," he said, smiling. "Can I read this one?"

I sighed in frustration. "No."

"Aw.... please."

"Nope."

"But......"

"No....."

"I correct your grammatical errors you know?"

"So?"

"So, let me read this."

"Chase," I said, trying to make a point. "You don't even like reading. Not my books or any other books."

"Touché."

♡♡♡♡♡

The next day, I found a yellow sticky note stuck to my locker. Please be a girl!!

I read what was written on the note and it said, "Meet me on the roof, a^*hole! -Will Hemmings."

NOOOO!! Why?! Is he gonna beat me up? Nah, he's too weak looking. Even if he does, I don't care.

As I went up the stairs, I saw Aria Benson collecting the papers that were scattered on the floor. I kneeled down and helped her with the papers and they looked like music sheets.

"You're a musician?" I asked, not looking at her.

"Not really," she said. There was small moment of silence. "So you decided to change, Crawford?"

I looked at her in confusion. "No?" I said.

"Okay," she said. I handed over the bunch of papers I collected and I watched her keep them all in the file.

"You do know you can hole punch it and keep them properly, right?" I said.

"I can't do that. They're too precious," she said. "It's really hard to get them printed."

"Are they your works?" I asked.

She looked at me with wide eyes. "No, no!! I just... this is a piece by Paginini!! Yeah!! Not mine!!" she said, laughing nervously.

"You're lieing," I said, smiling.

"And you're annoying," she said, standing up. "Thanks for the help. Hope to never bump into each other again. Goodbye." And with that line she walked away. I shook my head, smiling. That girl hates me, I guess. I continued walking and when I reached the roof, I saw Will with his back pressed to the wall and with a lit cigarette between his fingers.

"Hey," I said.

He looked at me. "Hey," he said.

"What do you wanna talk about?" I asked, sitting down on the floor.

"Nothing," he said, after exhaling smoke.

"You wanted to waste my time?"

"Nope. Wanted to waste mine."

I watched his emerald eyes staring forward and they showed something, I never noticed before. Sadness.

"You look sad. Wanna talk about it or something?" I said.

Will lowered his head. "I want to apologise," he mumbled. "I wasn't myself yesterday so I'm sorry."

"It's okay. No harm done," I said, looking forward.

"Especially that line I told you about killing yourself." I looked back at him. "Don't do it. You'll just end up hurting the people who love you."

"I'm planning on doing anything like that but thanks for your concern," I said.

He looked at me with a confused look. "Are you always this kind?" He asked.

I chuckled. "You think I'm kind?"

"Not really. If I were you, I'd try beat the hell outta of a person for trying to apologise," he said, before bringing the cigarette to his lips.

"Well, fighting is not always an answer."

"I agree and I'm not that good at it either." I nodded and looked at sky as there was silence between us."What's Chase's deal? He seems like an a*s, who flirts with girls all the time."

"He's just too nice to people that all the girls are in love with him."

"Not all of them. Aria and Jenny aren't."

"Jenny?"

"Jennifer Kingsley, she's with you in English class," he said.

"Oh, I don't know her," I said. "She's a friend of yours?"

"Since elementary school," he said, giving me a small smile.

"Are you always this kind?" I said the same sentence he said to me while ago with a smirk.

"Trust me, I'm not," he said, smiling.

"Right, right. I better get going. Chase might be waiting for me," I said, standing up.

"Sure," he said. "See ya later."

I smiled at him. "You too," I said, before going back downstairs.

Who knew he'd be a nice guy? I surely didn't expect that at all. I guess it's true when they say everyone has a good side.
