A Spark: Part 26
Everyone froze. Jesse was trying to locate where the sound had come from, but it seemed like it was coming from all around them.
PAMA began to laugh, and suddenly, a lever was flipped, a button was pressed. Something activated in the ground, and then there was a whirring sound.
The floor began to shake.
"What's happening?!" Petra cried out, gritting her teeth.
"Just take out your buckets everyone! We've got to find the heart!" Jesse shouted, taking out her sword and preparing to attack.
"I don't think the search will be all that hard!" Lukas shouted over the growing sound.
"What?!"
"It's right there!" Everyone looked to where he was pointing. At the end of the room was a stained wall, and in the center of it-the redstone heart.
"I was wondering when you were going to get out of that pathetic hole you were hiding in." PAMA cackled, amused.
"We're here to put an end to you PAMA, so do us all a favor and shut up!" Jesse cried, watching as holes began to open up in the floor. She stepped back right before the ground under her began to open.
"What the hell-?!"
"What's happening?!"
"Look out!"
About six holes opened up in the room, metal continuing to whir and a red glow covering it lightly.
The group watched in fear as platforms were lifted up on each of them, bringing up a chipped person. Their red eyes glowed and their mouths moved in sync to PAMA's voice.
"Just admit defeat, Jesse. You know you are just going to fail. Again."
She growled, walking backwards as the chipped advanced closer. Her friends had weapons and buckets of water, ready to strike.
"Jesse!" Lukas called to her and she turned. "Go! Destroy the heart! We'll cover you!"
"Yeah, go!" Aiden exclaimed, holding his sword in front of him.
She could feel a spark (get it?) of hope as she smiled at her friends' words of encouragement, and then ran towards the heart.
Olivia had taken out her bow and Maya her iron sword. Lukas, Aiden, and Petra also had swords. The chipped people were stepping closer, with no weapons at hand but glares as sharp as a blade.
"Do you really think you can defeat me?" PAMA exclaimed. "Do you really think you can win?"
Jesse stopped at the wall with the heart, it's thump pumping what seemed like energy all throughout the fortress. It looked like it had been pushed in the wall, very deep.
She grabbed her diamond sword, and WHAM! She began hitting the ends of the wall surrounding the heart to loosen it up.
"Yes. I. Can." She replied firmly, right before using her sword to pry the heart out of its place.
The creases on her face tightened, strained with effort as sweat dripped down her forehead. Her arm began to throb again, pain running up and down her body like a sport.
She could hear voices and shouts, but they were all fuzzy. Like she was in a trance. She had only one thing in mind-destroy the heart. And then this is all over.
Jesse gasped as the heart was thrown out of its place, the wires attached to it still hanging on and redstone dust flying everywhere.
She coughed and stumbled back a bit, before blinking.
Unaware of her friends' shouts getting louder, she walked towards it. Suddenly, everything but the heart was drowned out in darkness. The redstone thumping the only thing visible in her mindset.
"You know, you're just going to fail." The heart taunted her, a knot tightening in her chest. The sword felt heavy in her hand as she held in it a fighting stance. "Again."
"I am not a failure." Jesse said, her voice shaky and breaths heavy. "I am not a failure.
"And I will not. Lose. To the likes of you!" Her anger, her rage, was released as she cried out. Tears formed glittering pools in her eyes as she took the blade in her hands, and whammed it against the heart of all evil.
