Mommy dearest!

The story takes place 10 years back.

Sharan Sharma : age 17

Varna Sharma and veena Sharma : age 9

Meet Durga Sharma (Satyaraj) and Oviya Sharma (Khushboo) (Parents of Sharan , Veena and Varna)

The day was much more darker as usual. Sharan kept mum  keeping his study books and everything thinking about his future what could have been stored for him. His life is not as same as earlier. The business is now broke, his father is now alcoholic and the most astonishing thing happened to him was the change happened for his mother. He felt all these changes have happened because of him , his father's friend and business partner Deva...

He was startled from his thought by the arrival of his father and his friend. My father's legs are wobbled. He kept away his notes and specks away on the table and hold his father through his shoulders. Oviya came running to front hearing the commotion.

Sharan's pov

"Arey , just hold of him strongly. Else he will fall down right now", said Deva.

I felt to give a tight slap at his face. But I didn't say anything and comfortable deposuted my father in their bedroom. I felt my veins and eyes getting trembled due to anger. I rushed to see Deva and decided to request him to leave my father alone. When I went to my living room all I could see was Deva enjoying a hot cup of coffee and chitchatting with mom...

I literally hated their close proximity towards eachother. I was really feeling uncomfortable to near them.

"Ahem, ahem". I cleared my throat. Mom sudden shifted her place away from Deva.

" Uncle , all I could tell you now is please leave my family alone. What have you done to me ? What wrong my father did to you? ", my voice was raising against the walls.

" See kid. Its all business parties . Each and every business parties will be like this. Even if yu get or not definitely you will be evolved into this booze. If your father hangs on like this, why are you blaming me?", Deva said boring his eyes on my mom.

"Are you blaming my father alone? Don't you think you played a role to make him a drunkard?", I questioned him.

"Sharan", Deva paused for a while by fixing his specks firmly on his nose.

"Even if you blame me or not, everything is within your Appa's hands. Drinking or not is purely  his choice. Neither do I nor the God can change what has been written for everyone else. Talking and wasting my time on these type of nonsense you know I can't even spend a single second for this. Oviya , see you next time".

" Amma , don't you see all these things?" , I literally shouted at her.

"Son , this is what happens in every house when the householder becomes irresponsible", she replied without getting any emotions.

All I could see is my mom bidding her bye to Deva who is just a business partner of her husband. My mind was scraping in all the directions. Could it be something more than that?

                                                                         *********

The very next day I went to my college for my studies after sending my angels to their school. I couldn't understand a single page or the classes as my mind was wandering somewhere else. Walking through the corridor along with my friend Suriya sharing my sorrows I saw the peon was pasting a notice o the board. We went there to check it. It was the list of the students who failed to pay exam fees on time and the first number was me.

"It's ok Sharan. We are going to sort it down. Everything will be better." Suriya consoled me. I could hear the murmers behind my back. "Isn't he a millionaire? Can't he pay a single penny?" "Maybe spolied brat might have spent his money on pubs and girls" laughed somebody else. I rose up and hold his shirt. Suriya dragged me from there to avoid a situation.

                                                                                 ********

Going home also never give me peace of mind. But seeing my Appa playing with my angels,my heart melted away. My mom gave me a cup of coffee. After having it I thought to have a talk with my Appa.

"Son, aren't you feeling well?" Appa hold me through my shoulder. I felt a bit relaxed to see today everything is alright. I told Appa about everything. He listened to me for the while and walked towards his drawer. He took a bundle  notes and he handed over that to me.

"Suriya told me." Appa continued, " I am so sorry for what has happened to you. Business isn't good now a days. That means , yeah there is wrong on my part also. I need to stop my drinking habbits. Yeah the mistake lies in me."

I looked at my dad who strode taking heavy steps with a heavy heart cursing himself and his fate towards his room. I made Angels to sleep and got ready to my bed. I felt mom is getting less interested in the family these days. Must be all these issues. I tried to calm my mind. I kept my money safely in my bag and dozed off with a heart hoping for an auspicious next day.

                                                                                  *************

The very next day itself I went to my college of office to pay the exam fees with fine. I felt darkness was engulfing my eyes as I failed to get money from my bag. I checked my whole bag and everywhere , but couldn't find it. I was broken down to see I have lost my last hope in my life.

"Arey, why are you crying", the peon asked me. "I lost my exam fees", I sobbed harder.

"How come you say you lost your money? You have paid it already , haven't you?" , he enquired.

My mouth was wide opened. What? my money was paid ? who?

The peon enquired the cashier to check the fee payment. I was  astonished to see my name has been cut from the list. When we checked more on who paid the money  it's none other than Suriya. I looked at him with my bloodshot eyes.

"Dude, actually when I told about your condition to your dad all I could understand was that nothing is good right now. Your business is facing heavy losses. Even your dad was worried whether he could be able to pay fee at time. So I paid it. Dude just stop glaring at me like that."

He kept on blabbering. I crashed his body to me with a tight hug. My heart was weeping like a broken glass. How will I pay all these debts of love and friendship?

                                                                                 **********

When I was nearing to my home I could see a big crowd was gathered around my house. Some of my neighbors gave me a sympathetic look  while some gave me scornful smiles.

"Sharan just come here.We have been waiting for you while", Krishnakumar one of my neighbors pulled me to a corner. "Your dad had cardiac arrest". "What!" I was shocked . "More than that I need to tell you something, all these has happened because of your mom. She.."Krishnakumar looked at the floor unpleasantly failing to meet my eyes.

"What happened to Amma , answer me!" , I demanded. He gave me a letter. It was a letter from my mother citing that she isn't interested to live anymore with this family and whined as an unsatisfied housewife claiming she wasn't taken care of properly by Appa. So she found happiness in the hands of Deva . She has taken 30 lakhs which were there with my Appa which was for business purpose to transfer to other partners. She even kept  a sorry note for stealing money that too exam fees of her very own son - From me....

                                                                             *********

I hold my angels who were keeping on crying for their mother at the hospital. Appa is recovering slowly. I went to his office to see that apart from 30 lakhs a huge part of money has to be given for others. Even after Appa has been brought home, still our life has never been the same. Appa fell to depression for his personal loss and his failure as a man in his  life.

I decided to take the matter in my hands. I joined my hands with Suriya's father as a drugdealer to much of his dismay. This even brought our friendship to the verge of breakdown. On the course of time I started earning money and became right hand of Suriya's father. I paid all the debts and started running my business in my own ruthless terms. When my empire was growing , my inner mind harbored a strong hatredness towards the women- especially the so called "MOM"

                                                                       ***********

"O, O , O laalilo don't cry baby. Amma is there naa", Isha said trying to pacify baby Pratheeksha who was crying for her first injection. But my lovely baby extended her hands towards me to catch her. I hold her and she laid down her head on my shoulder having hiccups from her nonstop crying session.

"Appa's baby", Ishana pouted. "No , she is Appa's lil angel with Amma's heart" , I smiled and my wife blushed.

"Dan dana , see what your Thaatha has brought for you!", landed my Appa with balloons and flowers. My baby stopped crying once she started enjoying  the tactics put forward by her grandfather.

"Sharan , sometimes baby might get fever. We can't predict so please buy all these medicines also.Ask not only your daughter but also your wife to take some rest", pediatrician smiled.

"Sorry madam,  I don't think my wife will be taking rest for the next period of time," I said. everyone looked at me puzzled. " Seriously baby always tells me that she wants a  baby brother to play with her, isn't it Ishu?", I pouted at Ishana.

Ishana's face became red as tomato and the doctor bursted out laughing. On the contrary, Ishu didn't forget to pinch my waste too! After having an amazing time my family that too being a part of my blood's first vaccine , my happiness don't have any boundaries. I carried my precious baby along with me and moved with my family. I was leading my family in the front , I accidently collided with some lady whose face was half covered with her old saree.

"Sorry mam , I ..." , I couldn't complete my apology to her. Her eyes! Those eyes..They literally drawn me towards her. Her face was half covered, but I can see the shock of seeing me in her eyes. Before I could recover myself, she vanished out of my sight.

"What happened Sharan? Why did you stop?", Appa asked me. I stood there dumbfounded what not knowing to do next.I kept on looking around whether she was present  or not.

"Sharan let us move. Stop standing like this." Appa started moving with puzzled Ishana and dragging me along with him. But somewhere in my mind I registered that it was her.... Once so called -  my "Amma"

                                                             **************

"Oviya , who are they?" asked the caretaker from the orphanage to Oviya who was hiding behind the pillar and staring at the family. Now she is no more a beautiful lady. Half of her face was burned and she lost her right arm after she met with a freaky car accident that cost the life of Deva too. Since she disowned her lost family and everyone finally she met her ends with an orphanage who is taking care of people with disabilities.

"That...", she hold her breath and closed her eyes to release her fresh tears.

"That's my son . That's my family ,I lost", she sobbed.

                                                **************
