Gavin and I walked down the sidewalk by the beautiful series of houses. I couldn't believe it. For the first time since high school, a guy invited me to his house. I was so excited to see him outside of the school without hearing one of my second graders telling me that I chickened out. And, we wouldn't have to... research in the teacher's computer lab.

We finally arrived at his house. We went into his room, which was more of a suite, and began snuggling in the velvet love seat. "So, Lesley, tell me some more about yourself," Gavin requested. "You already know about me. I'm a genius twenty-year-old student teacher who lives in her nineteen, teen mom's apartment with her, her cheap husband, and energetic five-year-old. Tell me a little about you," I replied. "Well...,"

He was interrupted by someone unlocking the door. "Sweet cakes!" I heard a familiar voice call. "Mrs. Boyer!" I said at the same time he said "Mom!"

"Hide in the closet!" he said, "It'll work!"

It didn't. Mrs. Boyer came upstairs and just as she was about to believe Gavin's lies, my cell phone rang. "Miss Baxter!!!" she shouted.
