Hermione went up to Draco as class was letting out. "Draco, can we talk for a moment?" She said it in such a sweet manner that Draco wasn't really expecting what was coming next. "Sure Hermione what do you want to talk about?" He asked innocently. "You know DARN WELL WHAT I WANT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT! WHAT DO I LOOK LIKE SOME SORT OF DAMSEL IN DISTRESS TO YOU HMM? IS THAT HOW MEN FEEL ABOUT WOMEN WHERE YOU'RE FROM BECAUSE I CAN DEFEND MYSELF THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!" Hermione shouted. Draco looked at her with a healthy mix of shock and fear and timidly answered her question. "I was just trying to help you and show you that I am a man of my word and that I would protect you from the other houses." Hermione took a moment to take a deep breath. "I'm sorry that I yelled, I haven't had anyone stand up for me before so I am not really used to it yet. I guess it's going to take a while to get used to having friends."

Draco paused at this, he couldn't believe someone like Hermione wouldn't have ever had any friends. "You can't seriously think that I would believe that someone as smart and talented as you wouldn't have any friends, do you?" Hermione smiled at this compliment. "It's true I haven't ever had any friends. No one ever wanted to be friends with the resident know-it-all. I've had to keep to myself with only books and knowledge to keep me company." "Any way, are you nervous about your detention? Professor Snape seems rather strict." Draco explained to her that Severus was his godfather and therefore he wasn't worried about his punishment being too tough. "He'll probably just make me write lines or something like that. Come on let's go back to the common room to get ready for Charms." They walked back to the common room together to get their books. Afterwards they headed towards the staircase to get to the Charms classroom.

They arrived to class to find a small man greeting them at the door. "Hello students, please find a seat next to a member of the opposite house. Class is about to start so find your seats quickly." Professor Flitwick directed them into the classroom. Hermione looked around and only saw a couple of open seats. There was one next to that Weasley boy from their first class and another next to a girl named Lavender. In order for Draco not to get into anymore trouble she told him he should sit next to the girl and she would sit next to Weasley. "Are you sure Hermione? I don't trust that Weasel. He's going to give you trouble, I can just feel it." Draco said. "I can take care of myself, as we have established and anyway I do not want you to get Slytherin into anymore trouble. I'll be fine, I promise." She assured him and they parted ways just as class was about to start.

Hermione food her way to her seat and grabbed her book, quill and parchment from her bag. Weasley didn't say anything to her and for that she was grateful. Hermione had no idea what was in store for her once the lesson began. Professor Flitwick instructed the students to put away their parchment and books as they would only be needing their quills and thier wands. "Today we are going to be working on the levitation charm. The incantation is Wingardium Leviosa. Let's repeat it without wands first. Repeat after me Wingardium Leviosa." The class repeated the incantation a few times with Flitwick. "Now I want you to pick up your wands, point them at your quills and saw the incantation. Don't worry if you don't get it the incantation right on the first try. Just do your best!" Hermione picked up her wand and began saying the incantation. As she began she looked around at her classmates, their mannerisms with the charm varied depending on the person. Some students were calm, but some including Weasley were getting very frustrated. Weasley was waving his wand around without a single regard for anyone sitting around him. Wingardium Leviosa!" he shouted, waving his long arms like a windmill."You're saying it wrong," Hermione snapped. "It's Wing-gar-dium Levi-o-sa, make the 'gar' nice and long." "You do it, then, if you're so clever," Weasley snarled. Hermione picked up her wand and said the spell and the quill began to float. The room became a buzz with whispers as the students began to notice that Hermione got it right on the very first try. "Look class Miss Granger has done it! 10 points to Slytherin for excellent wand work. Well done!" Flitwick exclaimed. "Well that will be all for today class, you are dismissed."

Hermione was gathering her things as Weasley came up to her. "Well of it isn't little Miss Lucky Charms. Aren't we the cleaver little mudblood." He snarled at her. Hermione inwardly groaned at the confrontation that was coming. "Are you really calling me Lucky Charms? That's the best you could come up with? Oooh I'm so offended to be called the same thing as a brand of cereal." And with that she left a very shocked Weasley and what she thought was a smirking Potter. She caught up to Draco and they headed down to the Great Hall for lunch.
