One: The Runaway

A voice called out to Wendy every single night. The whispers screamed inside her head, begging to get out. It gave her massive headaches, and an incredible thirst for strength.

Most of all, power.

That's what mattered to the whisper. It just needed to take control over the girl's body, and she could release her "wild nature" she was hiding all along.

A complication: it would be extremely suspicious. She's too kind, lashing out as power hungry would be way out of character for her.

So there had to be another way for it to work.

Today was another typical day at Fairy Tail, the usual fighting between guild members, chaos all over the place, an infuriating Erza, you know the rest.

That morning, when the sky dragon slayer arrived to the guild, she didn't feel too well. Wendy felt like throwing up, or fainting right there the spot. Carla recommended her to rest, but she didn't listen. So the exceed ended up following her.

Wendy sat at one of the tables, the exceed not, that far behind, hoping she isn't questioned by any of her guild mates. Unfortunately, it was unavoidable.

"Hey Wendy, how are you doing?" A celestial wizard asked out of nowhere, drinking her strawberry milkshake.

Lucy.

She didn't notice Wendy sitting nearby, so it was quite a surprise.

"Don't worry about me, Lucy-san. What about you?" Wendy changed the subject.

'Release me. Now.'

"She's not feeling well." Carla interrupted.

"Really? How come she didn't told me?" the blonde held her chin in thought. She tried to shrug it off, but she somehow couldn't.

"As I was saying, I'm trying not to have my day ruined by Natsu and Happy... so I'm alright." Lucy replied.

Suddenly, Wendy's eyes started to change color. From brown, to crimson, then brown.

"Wendy..." Lucy pointed at the youngster's eyes.

"What?"

"Forget it," Lucy left the table to find her best friend, and hang out at the library, obviously.

'I know you want to!'

Wendy constantly shook her head, as if she could shoo away the whispers in her head.

"No... no..."

She kept chanting to herself, until at one moment, the bluenette banged her head on the table. Wendy quickly lifted her head, a numb expression on her face.

Crimson eyes.

The rest of the guild stared at her in shock. They certainly knew this was strange, yet again, you don't 'truly' know someone until they reveal their true colors. And it seems like Wendy revealed hers.

"Finally. I'm free!" The youngster wanted the world to know. She chuckled to herself. "Wendy Marvell is dead."

"And once I take control, I'll slaughter you all! Mark my words!"

Ha.

Ha.

Ha.

Carla could only watch, as Wendy, or whoever, was speaking loud and clear. She knew Wendy better than anyone else, so why was the dragon slayer acting this way?

Wendy ran off as fast as her legs could take her. She didn't care of the confused glances she received, or the shouting. Her priority, was power.

It had been hours, and now, she found herself in a forest, mostly full of birds. They annoyed her when they would peck on the trees.

"Ugh. How repugnant." she crossed her arms. As she kept exploring, her senses hearing mumbled voices as she walked.

"You've got to be kidding me..." she facepalmed. She needed to find a place to stay. And quick.

'Don't forget your priorities, little girl.'

Fortunately, there was a small village nearby the woods. Its population wasn't huge, and she wouldn't be the center of attention.

The white exceed still kept following the girl, and Wendy always managed to avoid her by disguising herself as one of the villagers, wearing a black cloak, and

"Finally. I couldn't stand being there for one more second. I would still be weak," Wendy clenched her fists.

"Wendy Marvell!"

Cover blown.

"Child! Just what do you think you're doing?"

The white exceed scolded the bluenette for her actions. "Your actions were un despicable! I know I would always stay by your side, but I don't think I can after all you did."

"Well, you can just leave. It's that simple."

Carla didn't move.

"I said, leave. Sky dragon's... wing attack!" Swirls of air surrounded her arms, attacking her surroundings.

"That should be enough." Wendy went back to the village. Most of the houses there were so small, barely one person could fit inside.

She saw a cottage, which seemed old and rotten on the outside. Yet when she entered, the sight took her by surprise. A clean kitchen, living room, and on the second floor...

"Wow!" The second floor was an abate space. Her gaze focused on the bed.

'So fluffy! I want to sleep—'

"—Shut it! We don't have time to sleep! I need to fill my thirst!"

There was something about the place that made her... insane, no, controlled.

Outside the cottage, there was someone, perhaps somewhere near eighteen, sewing a tiny doll, that looked exactly like Wendy. Everything it did, the girl reciprocated the move.

"What's my first task?" Wendy chuckled, her voice unrecognizable.
