The Author's Introduction
You are standing. That is the first thing that you register. You do not know why you are standing, but you suspect that it is because there is nowhere to sit. On that thought, you start to look around. At a first glance, there is nothing to see here. When you look again however, you can tell that it isn't a 'nothing' nothing, where there was quite literally nothing to see. It's not The Void, where it's an endless blackhole of nothingness, calling you to fall in it for eternity. It's not the Anti-Void either, where everything is a blinding white that sears the eyes of those unused to it. If you'd have to explain, you'd call it a 'something' nothing, where it's clear there is something here, just nothing that you might find interesting or important. When you focus your vision, you can make out artificial light surrounding you, as well as a wooden floor beneath your feet. You wonder where the light is coming from, but when you look up, you only see more light.
You realise that you are in an empty room, perhaps an unused storage room. You make an attempt to move to explore your surroundings, but you find that you cannot, as if there is something restricting you from doing so. Somewhere in your mind, you feel that you should be feeling immensely scared from these strange events. Even stranger however is that it feels normal, as if you've done this many times before, just in a different way. You try to remember who you are, and why you are here in this strange, empty place. Then the answer comes to you, and everything begins to make sense.
You are in the universe of an author's story, although you suspect that you might be outside Space and Time. As for your name, you are The Eyes, a being created by the author of this story. You are the link from this universe to the universe of the audience. You are, quite literally, their eyes for the story. Other things begin to click as well. You cannot move because you haven't been told to. You only move according to the script. Although, there is a feeling in your mind that makes you suspect that the script isn't ready yet, and that you're not supposed to be here yet.
While you are remembering these things, you start to feel a presence in your mind. Your memories tell you that it's the presence of a being looking through your perspective. In other words, it's the audience. You can tell that, as time progresses, there will be many more of them, all curious as to what this story contains.
While you are lingering over these facts, strange 'crash' and 'clang' noises sound from behind you. This should startle you, but you can't be startled if you don't have feelings to be startled in the first place. You tap your head at that, as you feel it is the most appropriate action to take. Instead, you attempt a 180 degree turn to face the source of the noise. What you find is a large figure, covered in a long black cloak. You try to describe them, but curiously enough, you find that the correct words seemed to have been blocked from your memory. You stare at the figure some more, trying to see under their hood. The figure's face is covered, but you get the feeling that they are smiling at you. Or rather, they are smiling at the audience. You do not feel insulted, as you don't have any feelings to insult.
"Hello there, new readers!" The figure greets with a high female voice, warmth and cheer bursting from it. Inside you, you can feel 'gasps' of recognition. You take a guess and think that there are beings in the audience who have recognized this figure. At the same time, you can tell that there are others who are still confused at who this strange figure could be.
"Welcome to A SkeleTON of Mystery: The Reincarnation! Allow me to introduce..."
"T-Dude!"
You look at where the figure is gesturing to. You can see a comfortable red plush chair, one so comfortable that you could sink into it if you sat on it. On it is a small wool figurine of a smiling skeleton wearing a well-worn blue jacket with black pants. It seems very familiar to you, and you can tell that the audience already know who this figure is based on. Upon seeing your gaze, the female figure looks at the chair as well. They look bewildered to see the plush toy. With a huff, they grab the toy and snapping her fingers, makes it disappear.
"What the?" The figure yells in surprise. "How did that even get there? That's a rather strange mystery."
You notice that the voice of the figure has changed from a female to a male, dropping an octave in tone. Inside you, you feel recognition from some of the audience members, making you suspect that they are absolutely sure of the identity of the figure. Making a slightly muffled "Hmph" sound, they proceed to grab you with an Orange hand. However, it is not one attached to their hand, but rather one which had materialized from thin air. The hand gently places itself on your shoulder like a friend might and proceeds to tug you at the direction of the figure.
"How humiliating." The figure mutters, not realising that their words were easily heard by the audience. "So much for a good first impression. Oh, am I going to yell at him. He's the one who wanted to do an introduction before the story even started. I was fine with that, and even helped him. Then I give him one simple task: Be here. Surprise, surprise, he's not. I swear, he might be a good author, but he's incredibly scatter-brained." You wonder if the figure is complaining to himself or to the audience. You suspect that it might be both. Of course, he may also be giving some sneaky exposition.
The figure seems to be walking towards nothing, for when you look, all you see is floor and light. The Orange hand on your shoulder continues to gently tug you along, as if it knows where the figure is going and what he is doing. While you are interpreting this, a sharp light catches your eye. You look at the direction. A silver portal has appeared into existence. You cannot see where it leads to, only its steady silver glow. The figure however clearly does as they keep walking towards it.
"Well, I think I know where he is, anyways. If he's not here, he'll be there." The figure vocalizes. You can feel annoyance inside you, making you guess that the audience members who do not know this figure are demanding answers. You decide to ask for them, if only to calm them down. Hearing you, the figure turns to you, and you can feel that smile again, but it seems to be slightly more sly than the last one. You hypothesize that the figure has no intention of giving a simple answer, if they give an answer at all.
"If they don't know who I am, they will. If they do know who I am, then don't say. Allow them to learn. That means you, audience."
You study the cryptic message for a bit, until it starts to make sense to you. You believe that the audience feel something click, and do understand the strange advice, to a degree.
The figure waves something from under their cloak, most likely an arm, you think. It removes the Orange hand from you, and de-materializes it.
"When you're ready, cross the portal. HE'll be there."
Upon saying that, the figure literally vanishes from existence with a sarcastic salute, leaving no trace that they were there. The Portal is still open, a low humming quietly rumbling from it. You decide that the best course of action now is to step through the silver Portal. With one last glance back at the empty room, you step through the silver teleportation spell.
The Portal leads you to a large room, filled with various objects everywhere you look. You decide to examine it, as you assume it may be the room where the author works and that the audience might be intrigued by his workplace. The walls have a unique colour scheme, with many colours decorating it with different patterns. Upon inspection, you pick out colours such as a Crimson cartoon heart, Violet hands, an Orange flower, a Silver set of armour and a Royal Blue plus Gold orb. These colours have also been painted across the walls but don't seem to clash with each other. It's quite mesmerizing to look at.
On the left side is a large metal cupboard about 6 feet tall, filled with various knick-knacks placed all across the many shelves. It seems to be split into five levels all filled with items. On one shelf you notice all sorts of hand-sized figurines, all handwoven from wool using different coloured threads. On one level there is a large group of monsters all standing together in a group facing you. There is a small Post-It note saying "In order. Touch if you'd like, but please make sure they return to this order."
You decide to examine them all closely. Before you do, you notice buttons placed on the edge of the shelf. There is a second Post-It note saying "Press these for a surprise when looking :). Don't worry, only you will hear it".
On the far left, there is a small human child wearing a blue-and-purple striped shirt. Their eyes seemed to be closed, but if you squint, you can just make out the pupils behind them. They are smiling an adorable little smile, one that would make a person sigh from the cuteness. When you press their button, music begins to play. You recognise this theme as 'Undertale' and spend a little while listening to it.
Placed in front of the child is a medium-sized brown pot containing a yellow sunflower-like plant with a big smile on the flower. A strange instinct warns you that the smile itself is fake, most likely a ruse to win trust. Yet the smile is so cleverly done, it would have succeeded against beings lacking emotions. The music that follows is a quick little tune which does not last very long.
The next one is a large humanoid goat monster, wearing a long purple dress with an odd insignia embraided at the breast area. The insignia is a circle with what looks like three wings above it. You also gather that she is a female from the obvious clues that you do not wish to point out. She has pure white fur all across her body that, when you stroke it, is smooth to the touch. She has small horns on the top of her head, barely protruding from the fur. Her face is a kind one, resembling the face of what a mother might look like. When you press her button, the music that occurs is peaceful and calm. You seem to remember that its name is "Ruins".
When you go to look at the next one, there is a gap, which strikes you as odd because there is a button in its place. You press it, and hear what you might call bar music. You can't recall the proper name of this theme, but you do know that the files label it as 'mus_muscle'. A feeling gives you a sense of irony at this title for reasons escaping you.
The next one is a tall skeleton monster (male, you assume) striking a dramatic pose, with one hand face palm down and the other on their spine. The monster is wearing red gloves with gold cuff-links. He is also wearing red boots and what appears to be an upside-down blue bowl covering his hips. His upper body has white armour covering his upper torso with strange illegible markings on the left area. He also has an old red scarf that seems to have been used many times as it has an aura of age surrounding it. The skeleton has a cheerful expression on his face, and even though you don't have feelings, you feel like smiling as well. When you press his button, music begins in a catchy melody. This one is the appropriately named "Bonetrousle".
The next is a humanoid fish monster wearing shining silver armour, covering her entire body save her face. It is made of a metal material. You know that she is a female due to the tell-tale area in the breast armour. She is holding a metal blue spear that is even sharper than the horns and would have drawn some blood from you if you had any. Her face is a natural blue, with a red ponytail flowing from the back. She has a victorious and deadly smirk, giving her the illusion that she might suddenly come to life and suplex you. Why a suplex, you don't know. You press her button, and dramatic battle music begins to play. You recall this theme being "Spear of Justice." You also think that the blue spear that the monster is holding has glowed a bit, but it's most likely just a trick of the light.
Next to her is a small reptilian monster. She seems to be wearing a white cloak, the same one a scientist might. Once again, you figure out her gender via the breast area. Her scales are visible through her yellow body, and feels plastic-like to the touch. She has a nervous smiling expression, like she is afraid something bad is about to happen. You notice that she is wearing small glasses, and when you touch them, reveal to be made from glass. When you press her button, the music is a basic music pattern with little music until later on in the piece. You recognise this piece as 'Lab'.
The last one from the group is a large humanoid goat. Judging by the lack of breast and the long, luscious golden beard, you assume that he is a male, perhaps related to the other one in some form. He is wearing a royal purple cloak with long golden shoulder pads coming from them. He has long horns extruding from his head with a golden crown in the middle of them, and also shares the same white fur as the other. He is smiling, but you can see the sadness well hidden within it. When you press his button, two themes begin to play consecutively; the first being "Bergentrückung " and the second being "Asgore". Perhaps that is his name, and you wonder why his first theme has a good title, but the second is just his name.
You also notice some other figures to the side. On one section, there are three robots, two which look similar. One of them is square shaped with stringy arms and a wheel for a leg. Their face is a large dial and has a microphone in their left hand.
Another is a female robot with pink boots and black pants. She has a pink heart encased within glass and pink breast armour. She also has black shoulder pads made from metal and a metal robotic face with black hair hiding the right eye along with a smirk. She seems to be striking a dramatic pose. From inside you, you feel outrage from the audience. Perhaps they do not like this female character?
The third one is similar to the second one, but with some changes. The hair has been raised up to revealing a glowing pink eye, and her legs have been attached to her shoulders with replacements in the old area. She does have the same body as the other one, but the right arm has been replaced with a metallic hand cannon that seems to glow. You touch it, and feel your finger growing hotter by the moment. Her smile is more grim now, as if she has important problems to face. Once again, you feel that same outrage from the audience, making you wonder how terrible this character could really be.
There are many other characters as well at the side, all lacking a button though. One is a humanoid spider wearing a purple dress surrounded by miniature black dots all holding croissants and donuts. On closer inspection, they are actually tiny spiders.
Another looks like a training dummy, but it has a mean expression on its face. It is surrounded by miniature dummies, some wool and some metallic. You also notice that the dummy is holding a knife.
Somehow.
There is also a white ghost standing next to the robots. He is wearing a set of musical headphones and a white top hat on his head, one that resembles the top hat that the English people from the past.
While you are examining these figures, a light catches your eye, making you look up. There is a second shelf above the one with these figures and it seems to contain five more figures. One is a shining light bulb modified to mimic the shape of a human, and it has been painted vertically with two different colours; one side fully Royal Blue, and the other side fully Golden Yellow. It has been hung above the other four figurines, and it makes you wonder if it is implying something important. The final four figurines are all skeletons, and it makes you wonder why they have been placed on this shelf rather than with the other figurines. You decide to take a closer look at these figurines, and notice that they all have buttons as well, with the light bulb one being the only exception.
One is wearing a scientist's cloak with the same sign imprinted on its back as the female goat. This one is wearing purple-stained glasses despite not having a nose-bone nor ears to hold them up. They have a sly cocky grin, one that also oozed with intelligence. Somehow, it made you feel rather stupid, causing you to shake your head to remove these thoughts. The skeleton seems to be rather masculine to you. However, the strangest thing about him is that he has a perfectly cut hole in each hand, which strikes you as strange because none of the other skeletons have this irregularity. When you press his button, the music that plays is rather creepy and ominous. You recall that this theme is called 'Dark, Darker, Yet Darker."
The second one is a pretty female with a floral dress. You immediately tell she is a female because of the bump protruding underneath her dress. She seems to have a playful expression on her face, with one eye socket closed to indicate a wink. You press her button, expecting cheerful music to play. However, all that plays is an apology message, saying that this theme has not been completed.
The next one is the tallest of the group, wearing a special metallic armour with the same sign on its front. You wonder if this sign is important to the monsters as it makes multiple appearances. The skeleton has a metal visor covering his eye sockets, sockets that hide a silver glow within. His face resembles a clear lake, one calm and peaceful. His silver eye lights are a different story, sharp and calculating. When you press his button, the same message plays again.
The last one is also a female, one with a yellow dress and a heavenly glow. She has an extremely cheerful expression on her face, one as contagious as the tall skeleton from the bottom. One eye is closed though, with the other glowing with a bright red. She also has luscious gold hair coming from her skull, which is the strangest thing about her. Her button also prompts an error message, but it's more along the lines of "Theme to be confirmed."
You want to examine all these figurines more, but there are other things to look at as well. Before you do, there is something interesting that you have spotted. You go to examine the large group of monsters again, and you notice a detail that you missed earlier: Hidden well at the back are two figures wearing a similar green-and-yellow striped shirt. You realise that one is a human child and the other a goat monster child. You assume that the person who arranged these must have forgotten about these two figures. However, you get a feeling that you might be wrong. But that's enough examining for now.
You are about to turn to another shelf, but you steal another glance at the shelf with all the monsters. The smiling one has been placed back, but he looks very different.
His smile is still there, but only barely. He has one hand on his chest, which has grown a large tear made from red. It seems to start from the top of his left shoulder all the way down to the right of his hipbone. You decide to press his button to listen to his theme. This time, however, it is much different. You recall the name of this theme to be one of the most famous songs from the game: Megalovania. You find yourself rocking your head along to the beat, before finally stopping yourself to go look at another shelf, stealing one last glance at the broken skeleton.
On a different shelf, there are a large amount of pictures all in different art styles, all drawn by talented artists. They have all been left in a rather disorganized pile. You rummage through them for a bit, tidying them up while you are doing so. They all have a pattern of having two people being next to each other and performing what might be considered romantic acts. One in particular catches your eye. When you look at it, you realise that it is the female humanoid goat monster and the small skeleton in the form that was on the chair earlier. He seems to appear a lot here. You assume that he must be an important character.
The two monsters seem to be looking at each other passionately? Perhaps it's just the impressive way they have been drawn.
Another picture grabs your eye, as it seems to be the only one in a proper frame. It appears to be a male human figure, about perhaps 20 or so and looks rather strange. The figure has a dark blue and silver headband on top of a head filled with light brown hair. The figure has dark blue eyes with sparkles coming from it, making an illusion of the night sky in his eyes. He had a small smirk, one that seemed to say "I know I am". He wore a dark blue T-Shirt with a grey jacket tied at the waist. He wore long silver pants as well as silver shoes. Next to it was a caption that read:
"So this is what I look like according to Lunar. Nice." You are not sure what that means exactly, but you hypothesis that the figure may be an imagining created by this 'Lunar' for the person who wrote the caption. As to who this person could be, you cannot be sure.
On the other side, you can see a large board filled with writing. Under closer scrutinizing, you seem to gather that it may be the story board. You seem to pick this out from subtle clues, from chapter titles such as 'A Painful Awakening'; to character names such as 'Lucida'; story questions such as "Should I bring those verbal battles back?"; and the fact that it says 'Story Board' at the top of it in a rather funny looking font. Actually, everything on this board seems to have been typed in this comedic font. There is a Post-It note on the side, reading : "Include Acknowledgements in the Introduction."
At the front is a huge desk, a large computer situated on it. There are all sorts of wrappers everywhere on the desk such as chip packets and soda bottles. At the computer is a familiar figure sitting on a black revolving chair with a back rest. You realize that he's the same one from the picture, although his hair is rather messy, his clothes are wrinkled and judging by the smell, you suspect he hasn't taken a shower in a while. He must have been working hard on his project on the computer. Either that, or he's been playing games or other things for a long time. Odd indeed, but there's no denying that he's the spitting image of the picture.
"Odd indeed, but there's no denying that he's the spitting image of the picture." He mutters in a light baritone voice, repeating the same words you had just thought. All of a sudden, he straightens up in his chair, something clicking in his mind.
"Hoo boy." He mutters, before turning around slowly to find you staring at him. He looks more sheepish than shocked, and tries clearing the mess from his table while still looking at you. You notice that he just sweeps it to the ground, where it magically disappears.
"Ah. I didn't realise that it was today." He spoke, embarrassment making his cheeks flush velvet red. You can feel that some of the audience members are laughing - but not unkindly- at him. Perhaps they know him and are used to his strange antics. Shaking himself out if it, he snaps his fingers.
The area changes. Instead of the room, you are back in that empty place again, only this time, you are sitting down on a plush wooden chair. Across from you, the blue-wearing man is sitting down on his red chair, letting out a sigh of relief.
"That's better. This chair is so much more comfortable than the other one." He sighs, then faces you, blush completely gone from his face. He is staring intensely into your eyes and makes you feel that, just like the cloaked figure, he's more fixated on the audience.
"Well then, think I should introduce myself. I am T-Dude, the author of 'A SkeleTON of Mystery', a great story idea badly written." At those words, you can feel outrage coming from the audience, as if they are angered that he dared to say those words.
"However, that's not where we are anymore."
A bright glint appears in his star-lit eyes.
"We are in the re-write: 'A SkeleTON of Mystery: The Reincarnation!" He declares with a flourish. From somewhere, you hear clapping and cheering. You realise that it's just a recording added for flash. The author continues, not missing a beat.
"You're most likely wondering:"
"Why are you re-writing your story when you never finished the last one?" Then in hindsight, he continues.
"Why are you saying that your story is bad when it's actually good?"
"Well, to answer both questions, it's because I wasn't satisfied with it."
The author leans closer to you, a serious expression on his face planted for show.
"I was reading a fanfiction one day. A Soriel one, obviously. It was the best one I've ever read and will most likely stay that way for me."
You wonder about his point, and feel some of the audience members agree with you. As if reading your mind, his serious face grows the smirk from the picture.
"Well, while I was reading it, I was hit with inspiration. And I knew exactly how to make my story better. So, I decided to give up on the old one, and here we are!"
Suddenly, the author looks behind you, as if seeing something there. You decide to turn around, and see the cloaked figure holding up a sign saying 'ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS'. This seems to make sense to the author, as his expression changes to one of barely contained glee.
"Well, if there's one thing that I have to admit, it's that I couldn't have done this myself. Actually, I probably could have, but it was definitely easier with others." He chuckles a bit at his joke, then stops upon seeing your blank expression. He mumbles something about giving you more personality.
"There are a lot of people that deserve my thanks, but if I tried to get to all of them, I'd fall asleep or something. So, I'll just get some of the main ones out of the way."
"First, Perspective_One. He's my best friend in real life and is my first follower, along with being the person who gave me the idea of writing the story in the first place. He's also 'technically' my first editor, which was really just an excuse in disguise to give him sneak peeks about my book and annoy him by asking if he had read it yet. But despite that, he stuck by me, and is very supportive even now." The author looks fondly at something. You try to see, but are unable to move.
"Then, Elil_Wuz_Here.He was my other editor, and my first unknown follower. He is a nice guy, and gave me some tips way back at the start." He cuts off, looking puzzled.
"I wonder what happened to him..." He looks spaced out for a moment, the stars in his eyes dimming slightly. You wave a hand in front of him to try and re-focus him. It seems to work as his eyes become bright again. He thanks you for that, rambling on about how he can easily change that topic and talk about something else. You stop him before he continues.
"After him is Lunar_Dreamcatcher! Funny story: We actually met on a comment chain on some other story that's probably better than mine, though that's not very hard to find. We roleplayed for a bit, and then followed each other after that. She is a really cool person, and is the one who created an avatar for me!" The author gestures to himself. The caption from the picture now makes sense to you.
"She also designed some of my OCs that appear later on in the story using my descriptions. The veterans already know who." Inside you, you can feel some cheers agreeing with him.
"And here's where I'll also include the editor for another famous author: BubblyShip. You may know her, but I want to focus more on one of her editors: SkyTheAlmighty who has accepted the role of becoming my editor as well! This was mainly because she's one of the only creators I know who shares my love for JoJo's Bizarre Adventures but also because she's a great author herself!
"Also, I should mention Snowstorm174. She's the creator of my cover art and a cool gal. Pun intended. She's also one of the only creators I see better than myself. And I hold myself to a high regard unfortunately. And shouldbehanging for their support." The author stops for a moment, as if trying to remember something important. You wait for a bit to allow him to regain his senses. The cloaked figure appears next to him, and seems to whisper something in his ear. Whatever it may be, it causes his face to greatly change.
"Of course! DarkMidnightDragon! The most important of the bunch! No offense to any of the others of course, although you may be wondering why she is so important for me to include her last. Well, it's because she represents something that I never planned to have: A co-writer."
He stops for dramatic effect. You can feels some murmurs inside, but no one is greatly shocked.
"Well, when I say co-writer, I really mean more someone who I throw all my ideas at. In fact, she's the only person who knows all I know for 'A SkeleTON of Mystery: The Reincarnation!' There is a reason for this, obviously." You feel that he is about to go on a big speech about something. You wonder about the word count of this so far, and if the audience is bored with his ramblings. You assume that they must really like him to keep listening to him.
"So, we were roleplaying one day. We had nothing better to do, and decided to just play around with our characters. She chose one; I chose one. I won't say who though, as they are vital characters for our own respective stories." He then sticks his tongue out at you, though you think it's aimed at the audience. He then says something about how the audience better not comment who those two characters are so as to leave them as a surprise for later.
"We had a lot of fun doing that, but caused some very unexpected things to occur. For one thing, we made those two characters a ship. As in a relationship. And the strangest part was that it actually worked! In fact, it's a small part as to why I'm re-writing. Because Dark's OC will be in my story in a relationship with my OC. Hopefully it pans out."
"I think that was the driving force for wanting to make her my co-writer. That, and the fact that she asked me to co-write with her as well. But the nail in the coffin was when she asked me to reveal everything for ASToM." He stops, processing what he just said.
Oh, right. If you've read my posts, you'd know that I abbreviated 'A SkeleTON of Mystery' to 'ASToM'. That's pronounced "As-Tom'. For the new one, I had to change it. So now it's the slightly harder to say 'ASToMTR'. That one's pronounced 'As-Tom-ter'." He then cuts off, realizing that he was rambling again.
"Sorry. Got side-tracked again." From the corner of your eye, you can see the cloaked figure shaking their head. You say 'their' as you can't be sure which gender they are now.
"Anyways, Dark and I. So I'm not sure what exactly I said, but I think it was something along the lines of it being a spoiler for 'ASToM'. She replied that she was fine with spoilers. From there, I revealed more and more about the storyline, until she knew nearly as much as I did about my own story. At one point, she told me that she really wanted to co-write with me. And I replied with something like 'well, you're with me now, whether you like it or not.' I think she was happy with that? I'm not very sure. But in the end, it was all thanks to her trying to ship our OCs together." He laughs at that. The cloaked figure seems to make a 'go on' gesture with their hand. The author frowns, most likely confused before understanding what they meant.
"Right! Thanks for that! So, as aside note, 'ASToM' was originally going to be based around the core characters from Undertale. I never considered implementing the Multiverse into the story. Actually, I had no idea about the Multiverse apart from the ridiculous amount of Alternate Universes. That roleplay changed that as well, as I learnt about really interesting things about Deities in the Multiverse and other things. But the full thing will have to wait until I re-release 'The'Lore-ing' Bonus Chapter'. Sorry for that." The cloaked figure flashes him a thumbs up. Then, with an impressive amount of energy, the author burst up from his chair, coming close to you with the barely contained glee now released from its cage.
"Now then! Time for the major part: What's staying, what's changing and what's new for 'ASToMTR!'
"First of all, there are quite a few things I'll be bringing back. One of those includes the Author's Personal Touches. Back in 'ASToM', there were times where I would include my own opinion on things or funny phrases. This was most notable with those 'almost cliffhangers' of mine, where I'd have a potential cliffhanger I could use but then use a different one later on." He chuckles a bit. "WoMan, did people find those annoying!"
"And I suppose, while I'm on the subject of Personal Touches, I might bring back the Verbal Battles between The Annoyance and I. You know exactly who I mean." Inside you, the veteran audience nods their heads.
"What else is there? Ah! The Author's Pre-Notes and Post-Notes! I'd have a running joke where I'd have a short Author's note before the chapter started. It was a joke because authors usually do Post-Notes instead. Why? Because it's amusing to me." His expression then changes to one of slight un-comfortability.
"Ah, yes. I'm retaining the 'mature' rating of 'ASToM' for 'ASToMTR'. It's mainly because I plan on detailing all the fight scenes that occur as the story progresses, but not because I plan on putting in any NSFW. I mean, I have the potential to write a good one, but why would I do that? Do you want to see that?" As he finishes that thought, another strikes to him.
"Well, while we're on the subject of detail, it's time for what's changing for 'ASToMTR'! The major one is detail. What? You thought 'ASToM' was detailed?" The author scoffs at that thought.
"Oh please. It'll barely hold a candle to 'ASToMTR'. I'm planning on turning that Description Dial from five point five to nine point five! Or close to that." His ever-growing excitement becomes contagious, its result however yielding nothing from you.
"There is one more thing that is changing: The publication schedule. Before, it used to be every Friday; then every Sunday; until it was whenever I had time. Well, good news!
I'm not setting a publication schedule! That way, you won't be disappointed when I don't release a chapter in time!" You can feel the audience face palming at the author's misdirection tactic, or his 'troll'.
"Yeah, yeah. But look, I can't set a publication schedule for a reason. I do a lot of things like piano practice, play practice, writing, and working on schoolwork and job work. That's quite a lot, and considering my pledge to make 'ASToMTR' better than 'ASToM', it makes it quite hard to put a schedule in. This way, I won't be rushed for time, and will be able to deliver high-quality chapters!"
"Now then, time for the last part: What's new in 'ASToMTR'! Firstly, the never seen before prologue! I came up with what I wanted to do for 'ASToMTR' with regards to the prologue while I was working on this thing. And while it won't deliver anything ground-breaking or anything, I think that it'll be quite satisfying indeed as it'll feature a familiar face that never appeared in 'ASToM'." Then his face turns sly, with a wink aimed at your direction. "But you'll have to figure out who that is."
"As well as that, there'll also be special words underlined throughout each story. When put together, they reveal fun phrases and/or hints for later chapters!"
"Who knows? There might be one in this chapter as well!"
"I got this idea from a different book, though I can't recall which one. If you know about books that do this, comment the names so that I can try to remember if that one is correct. It's Undertale based, obviously." The author stops, his lungs expanding and shrinking in a continuous pattern.
"There are a lot more things that will be staying, returning or changing from 'ASToM' to 'ASToMTR', but I can't be bothered to put them here. I mean, have you seen the word count?"
You haven't, actually, but you suspect it is rather large.
"It's big, alright. I mean, the last time I had a word count this big was back with the first chapter of the "A Mind Shrouded in Darkness" mini arc. Which you shouldn't read, because it has errors that I am too lazy to go fix up."
"Oh, and because it sucks."
The author begins to make a gesture, but not before yet another thought crosses his mind.
"Oh, right. You must be wondering why this chapter has been written in this way. Well, it's because of my pledge to you guys. Yes, I could have just typed everything without putting in additional details and have had the same reaction. However, that's boring and overdone. Instead, I decided to fill this chapter with cool Easter Eggs that Undertale fans and 'ASToM' fans will enjoy.
The author extends a hand to you to help you get up to your feet. You wonder why for a bit. Most likely, he wants to show you and the audience something else. The moment you grab his hand, you feel... different.
"Right. I should also explain this new character who, quite literally, popped into existence right now. Who are The Eyes? Basically, they are my envisioning of what the Third-Person in a book might be. Allow me to elaborate on that. When an author writes a book, they usually have to choose what kind of viewpoint they want the audience's perspective to take. There's First Person, which is usually told from the main character's Point Of View and is the most personal kind; Second Person, which is most common in 'Choose Your Own Adventure' books; and Third Person, which generally is told from the narrator's Point Of View. I personally write all my books in Third-Person, with this chapter being the only exception as of now." You feel your presence begin to fade away from this dimension. Inside you, the audience is feeling scared. You wonder if it is because they might never be able to see this author again.
"Don't worry." The Author assures. "I'm not killing The Eyes. I'm just returning them to their original form. The Eyes is the personification of the Third Person Point Of View, and were only ever given a body for a better story-telling perspective. They will return again, but that is in another time and another chapter.
You can hear him say all this. You should be scared, begging for him to stop. However, you do none of this. On the contrary, you wish for him to do this so you can sleep again. Sleep forever.
But there is a nagging feeling in the back of your mind. If he was writing the script when you came in, how did all this occur at all? Even if it was improvisation, you can only function according to the script. With whatever strength you have left, you voice this concern. Hearing you, he regrows that look of sheepishness.
"Well, funny story. I did actually finish the script earlier, before I gave you a body. I then decided to print a physical copy of it. Weirdly enough though, a small white dog appeared and grabbed the script from my hands. I went to chase it, but it had, uh, vibrated from existence? Which was really strange. So I went back to print off another copy, but all the files had been deleted. Like, a permanent delete. So, uh, I was actually in the middle of re-typing it when you came in, and had forgotten about you. Sorry."
"Hm? Well, I saved the script into your mind before creating you." With whatever vision you have left, you can make out a disgruntled face.
"Wait a minute, I saved the script within you..."
Your last memory is seeing T-Dude with his palm in his face. Next to him is the cloaked figure, shaking their head at his silliness. You can hear muffled speech coming from him.
"Well, see you next time in the prologue!"
And you return to blissful sleep, your mind becoming darker, yet darker.
*****
How was that? Honestly, I was kinda scared when writing this because I had promise a lot of things and now I'm worried that I won't be able to live up to them. So, I need you guys to do me a favour:
Comment. Comment your truthful opinion on this book. Not just a basic "It was great!" or "It sucked!", but why it did. That's my one request.
Thank you all so much for your support. I'll see you again.
