As I dug into my lemon cheesecake and she into her chocolate truffle one , she said 'So first things first , How was your trip down here? Did you have any problem getting here'
Nope, it was one smooth ride said I. You look very tired Sayantika, college not treating you okay?
Sayantika said ' Oh I am sick of all this you know. She threw her fork with a jerk. All this study makes my head reel. I hadn't signed up for this. I keep mugging and mugging but I forget it after three months she said.
I said , Hey that's Normal. Even I have forgotten what I studied this semester.
She said ' You dont understand. 5th year is so difficult. But thankfully I have a months break and soon this MBBS will be over. I will pursue something else after this'
I said , 'like what exactly' sceptically
Maybe dancing or singing ,she laughed.

I looked at her for a few moments absolutely stunned and started laughing too. I had never laughed so much in my entire life.
'And , Who do you think you will become? MJ? I said.
Oh no , said she , Moonwalk is no cakewalk for me. I will be a singing choreographer.

I rolled up my eyes , and said 'You and I Both know you are not an idiot that you will give this up. You are a fine student and from what you have told me , you seem to get the highest in every subject except microbiology. So stop asking for praises and kind words from me and get rid of these stupid thoughts.'
She said with a smile 'You know me too well for my own good. So for how long are you staying here? Where are your parents?'
I said 'Just 2 Days.My parents wanted to stay a bit longer at Puri so I came here by myself.Aacha shon , help with this address na'
She looked at me as if I was speaking a different language.
'Are you okay' said I.
'You are not staying at a hotel Missy, you are staying with me at my house' she said
'Sayantika , your parents barely know me. What if they think I am a terrorist or something, out to lure their daughter in a trap. I will be good in a hotel and we will meet tomorrow.'
By the time I had finished saying this , Sayantika was already on the the phone talking to her father or Baba as she called him. She told him , a friend of hers from Delhi had come to stay with her. After five minutes or so she hung up.
She said 'Done, my dad doesn't think you are a terrorist, thanks to my amazing words about you. Although you are a terror. You are staying with me and that's final'
She said this in such an authoritative voice that I had to give in not that I was displeased. I had never been to live with a friend before and I had been dreaming of staying with her for so many years.

She got up to pay the bill. I held her hand and said 'Remember the time you had tagged me and said a Scorpio never goes on a date with a Leo because she has to pay. I am paying for our first girl date'
She said 'Don't even think about it. You are my guest here and I bear your expenses. Obviously that doesn't mean that I will buy you Gucci handbags but I will look after your needs. And don't worry when I come to Delhi , we will settle this debt'
She paid and I took my backpack and we took the local train back to her house.
Her house was a really artistic one. My mom would have adored it. The walls were adorned with beautiful paintings. The bookshelf was laden with some amazing works by different authors. The walls were cream coloured. It was such a beautiful place and I felt completely at ease there. Her parents greeted me. They were really sweet people. They told me to sit down for a really late lunch at 5:00 p.m. And what an amazing chef Sayantika's mom was. She served me Shorshe Maach and gorom bhaat. It was excellent and delicious. I thanked her for the amazing meal and Sayntika took me to her own room.Her room was an aberration from her house. There were books on the bed. Some clothes too. Paper pieces were strewn on the floor and the room was is a general mess. She looked at me sheepishly and said 'Don't mind the mess please'. I grinned and said 'Your room looks like an amazing palace compared to my forever pig sty. And my sister can't be organised. I would hate that.' With that I plonked myself on her bed. She said 'Do you mind if I go wash up first'. I shook my head. She went inside. I looked around and found everything a little surreal. Here I was sitting in my virtual real sister's bedroom. A dream that I had for years was finally true. I looked at her blue curtains, the beautiful bookshelf she had for her novels which had authors from Novoneel Chakraborty to Gilann Flynn. I clicked a mental picture of all that in my head. Oh this was the best day of my life.  She came out and sat down with me . She looked at me and said 'What are you thinking?'. I said 'Just that , I feel really lucky to have met you and be here with you.' She said 'This is no time to get misty. Come on, we are gonna have a girls night in'. What's a girls night in I asked. Well since we aren't going out , it's a nights in said she in her bubbly voice. So we binge watched some Pakistani shows, and even tried out some Spanish ones just for the fun of it. We talked about life , her college friends and everything that we had chatted about on twitter.Since she hated pizza , she orders sandwiches from a great sandwich store. Soon it was past midnight and I could barely keep my eyes open. She said 'Baby it's bed time for you now, so you sleep here and I will sleep on the mattress on the floor since my bed is a bit too weak to hold two fat women'
I sprang up from the bed, took the bed sheet from her hand that she was going to cover herself with and promptly settled down on the mattress and said 'I let you let me stay here and treat me like a princess but this I will not allow. You will sleep on your bed and I don't want any arguments.' After much persuasion she agreed.
I said 'Tomorrow we are going to go to South City to look at those lipsticks you talked about and we will catch Don 3 Okay .'
She said ' Wow , a movie with you , I can tick that off my bucket list now'
We laughed and soon fell asleep.
