First Day (Part 3)
"So, this is Spear's. I've never been inside before. I just did a report on it though." Charlie said, panning the camera around the restaurant.
"Are you sure they'll let me film in here? It seems a bit..." Charlie looked from the word.
"Posh?" Cierra supplied.
"Yeah." Charlie nodded.
"They will. I own this place." Bruce said, showing his ID to the person at the front desk.
"Right this way, sir!" The person bowed politely before escorting them to their table.
"Wow." Cierra was a bit shocked.
"Bruce likes to show things off when with others. I'd get used to it, if you're with him for a month." Lucius said.
Bruce chuckled.
"So, Lucius, what do you have for me?" Bruce asked once they were all seated at the table.
"The monthly report is here." Lucius pushed the report to Bruce.
"Looks good." Bruce said, scanning over the numbers real quick.
"Yes, it is now. But I had to fire a certain employee for scamming money from the company." Lucius said, handing a manila folder to Bruce.
"That's the employee and where he is now. I hope this stays discreet." Lucius said.
"You know it will be." Bruce nodded.
"And finally, the fun part. Several new blueprints and ideas from several people and the new tech blueprints I had drawn up." Lucius said, pulling out another manila folder and a few small tubes.
Bruce took the folder first.
"I like this one. What color does it come in?" Bruce asked.
Lucius laughed, "I thought you'd say that. Any color you'd like."
"I want this one in production immediately. This one should have more R&D time. And this one isn't going to work with this battery. You'll need to put in a stronger one to make it more efficient." Bruce handed a few back as he looked through them.
"Lucius, this one is a weapon." Bruce frowned, glaring at him a bit.
"There's a reason that's there. That's the seventh blueprint he sent in. You need to talk to this one." Lucius said.
"What? He didn't know that he works for a non-lethal company? You know that I don't stand for these things. I don't even let Dick had a gun in the Manor! Not around the children." Bruce growled.
"I've told him to stop. He's not listening to me. YOU need to talk to him." Lucius said.
"Set up a meeting then. He has some good ideas, but this is pushing it." Bruce said.
"I'll get a meeting for Wednesday then." Lucius said.
"Make it tomorrow." Bruce said, looking through the last of the blueprints.
"Tomorrow is his day off." Lucius said.
"Wednesday then." Bruce said.
"Of course." Lucius said, typing it into his phone real fast.
"I like that last one. I'm going to take it to my desk. There's a few bugs, but I'm sure if Mr. McVall is willing to work a few things out, I can help him improve this." Bruce said.
"Okay, now since business is out of the way, let's have a good lunch." Bruce smiled.
"So, how is your group taking the 24 hour camera?" Lucius asked, opening up the food menu.
"Mostly well. Damian is acting up though. I'm hoping that Richard comes soon to straighten him out." Bruce said.
"How is Luke doing?" Bruce asked.
"He's coming back for spring break before he goes back to finish his semester." Lucius said.
"How many more classes does he have again?" Bruce asked.
"He has 3 more after he finishes this one." Lucius said.
"What's his plans for after school?" Bruce asked.
"Well, I was hoping he would come work at Wayne Enterprises." Lucius said.
Bruce chuckled, "You know he's welcomed here if he wants to."
"I know you keep saying it, but he's always asking if he still has a 'spot'." Lucius explained.
"Well, of course he has to do the mandatory interview. But he's a good kid. I know he'll handle it just fine." Bruce said.
"He'll be glad to hear that!" Lucius smiled.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Okay, Alfred will be here to pick you two up. You're going to be with the kids while I finish a few things here. Paperwork and what-not." Bruce said.
Just then, a buzz came from the phone on Bruce's desk.
Bruce clicked a button, "Yes, Tracey?"
"Mr. Pennyworth is here, sir." Tracey said.
"He has perfect timing." Bruce said, shaking his head a bit.
"I'll take your cards. Tracey will show you out, alright?" Bruce said, sitting back down at his desk.
Cierra and Charlie handed Bruce the cards, "What time will you get back home?"
"Before dinner. Alfred will probably end up picking up Damian and then coming back here for me. I told you I had just a few more things to do." Bruce said.
"Okay." Cierra said, following Tracey.
They got down to the parking garage, where Tracey left them.
"Hello there." Alfred smiled, opening up the door of the limo for them.
"Hello, Alfred! How was your day?" Cierra asked.
"Well, I'm not sure if you'd be interested." Alfred said.
"We are! So tell us, what does the butler do when everyone is gone? Let us in on the juicy details!" Cierra smiled.
Alfred chuckled deeply, "Well, I cleaned the Manor. Then I did a bit of grocery shopping. I did grab some new tea to try however. A blend of Lavender, Lemon, and Honey."
"That sounds nice." Cierra said, thinking about the tea.
"I hope so. We will try it during tea time today." Alfred said.
"Tea time? That wasn't on the schedule." Charlie said.
"Tea time is for those who wish to participate. It is not something everyone has to join in on. Master Jason, Master Damian, and Mistress Cassandra all join in on tea time. Master Richard normally drink hot chocolate or coffee with us. He only likes certain teas." Alfred explained.
"Would your Tea Time have room for two more?" Cierra asked.
"Of course it does!" Alfred smiled brightly.
Cierra and Charlie could tell that it really made Alfred's day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Gotham Academy." Alfred said as he pulled to a stop.
"That reminds me! Is Jason in school? He never finished high school, if I remember correctly." Cierra asked.
"No, Master Jason has not finished high school. The only one who has completed their schooling is Master Richard." Alfred said.
"Ah! Here they are!" Alfred smiled, getting out to open the door for the kids.
"Oh! Hello! Bruce didn't say that you'd be here." Tim said, getting in.
"Hey! It's the dirty duo!" Steph smiled as she and Cass got in.
"Dirty duo?" Tim asked.
"Yeah! 'Cause they're getting 'dirt' on us." Steph said.
"I get it!" Tim nodded.
"Off to get Master Damian!" Alfred said, driving away.
"Great." Tim rolled his eyes.
"Maybe he's had a good day. You don't know." Steph said, trying to lighten Tim's mood.
Tim looked at her, "He never has a good day."
"Gotham Elementary." Alfred said, pulling up to the school.
And finally, Damian joined the others in the limo.
Alfred's phone rang just as he was walking back to his seat.
When Alfred got back into the driver's seat, he ended the call.
"That was Master Bruce. He's ready to be picked up." Alfred informed everyone.
"He has good timing too." Cierra said.
"Alfred raised him." Tim said, putting it all together in his head.
"Really?" Cierra asked.
"Yes, after...after Master Thomas and Mistress Martha...died, I was left to raise Bruce." Alfred said.
"Wow. You did a good job. He's a great guy, as far as I can tell." Cierra said.
"Thank you, Cierra." Alfred said, looking at the review mirror at her.
Cierra smiled.
"Wayne Enterprises." Alfred announced, coming to a stop.
"Hey, there." Bruce said as he came in.
Alfred went back to driving.
"Next stop, Wayne Manor." Alfred called out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everyone got into the Manor and took off their shoes and jackets.
That's when they heard it.
It was light, but loud enough to hear.
"Oh, yes. Master Richard is home." Alfred said.
They all walked into the entertainment room where they went immediately to the couch.
Richard Grayson was laying there, still in his Bludhaven Police Department uniform, asleep on the couch, a case file open and dangling dangerously off his body and the couch.
"Grayson!" Damian yelled, happy to see him.
"I'M UP!" Richard yelled, sitting up immediately, wide-eyed.
"Hello!" Cierra smiled, Charlie's camera pointed at him.
Richard blinked a few times.
