Chapter 6: C-rank Dungeon

At six in the morning, Seung-Eun continued the progress of developing an A-rank Dungeon which he only needed to check the environment intently. There were many tall trees, grasses and swamps. It was a replica of Amazon Rainforest with many kind of dangerous magical beasts lurking around; from giant birds that could snap bones easily to a spine-chilling four legged hybrid boss monster.

'So tired...' Seung-Eun mumbled as he rubbed his eyes.

The mission of saving the world was not easy and tiring. Although he could create a health potion to deal with the fatigue, it can't deal him spiritually. He should fill his room with lavender.

A ringtone suddenly could be heard inside the quiet room, signalling him that a notification had just came in. He checked his phone and saw a weird message from an unknown number.

'We are coming.'

"Is this some kind of prank?" Turning the device off, he continued his work.

Around two hours later, Seung-Eun took a shower before he changed into a sport uniform. He put on a maroon cap on his head and carried a sword with its sheath as he looked at the long mirror in front of him. When he left the bedroom, he spotted Se-Yoon, who was already awake and currently having a cup of coffee on the dining table.

"Where are you going?" Se-Yoon asked before yawning. He looked more weary than the younger male.

"I'm going to a C-rank Dungeon." replied Seung-Eun.

"C-rank Dungeon? With who? Where is it located?"

Seung-Eun showed him the application form he registered yesterday. Back then, when they still lived in the orphanage, Se-Yoon always took care of the younger one and his habit never changed until now. Se-Yoon only checked the Dungeon's location and details, not the member list.

When Seung-Eun arrived at the specific destination, as he expected, he met with the protagonist, Jin-Woo. The later look surprised to see his sudden appearance.

Jin-Woo wore a black shirt underneath his blue jacket, a pair of jeans and sport shoes. Compare to the last time they met each other, he was taller and more physically fit. The two of them used to have the same height but now Seung-Eun could only reach pass Jin-Woo's ears.

"Seung-Eun, you are joining as well?"

"Yup, what a coincidence!" chirped Seung-Eun as he approached the older male. "You are getting taller? What did you do to be this tall in a week? Ah, you grew muscles too."

Jin-Woo consciously crossed his arms at the sudden numerous questions. He replied with an unconvincing answers. "I worked out."

"Oh?" Seung-Eun gave a dubious look with a hand on his chin. "In a week? That's impossible even if we are Hunters." He lowered his voice at the last two words.

Jin-Woo stiffened the statement and averted his grey eyes. 'Reawakening Hunters usually receive their power at once but I gradually become stronger when I level up, so I'm not sure how to explain.' he thought to himself.

Thankfully, they were interrupted by the leader of the raiding party for today, Hwang Dong-Suk. He was tall and bulky and equipped with weapons.

"Do you guys know each other?"

"We are neighbors." replied Jin-Woo.

Two Hunters from the raiding party recognized him.

"I know him! What was his nickname... World's Weakest Hunter?"

"Pfft! What the hell."

Hearing the insults, Seung-Eun visibly frowned. 'Excuse me? He is my player and he is going to be a National Level Hunter soon.'

Hwang Dong-Suk defended Jin-Woo and passed a paper to each of them. Seung-Eun read the agreement that he didn't get any share of magic cores and he didn't blame anyone else if something happened to him inside the Dungeon. It was common for this kind of contract in a private raid, so he didn't hesitate to assign it.

"Excuse me. It seems that the three of us are small fries." It was a young man that greeted the two of them. "I'm Yoo Jin-Ho. I'm twenty-two and the rank's D. I was called here as well, under the same circumstance as you guys." He grinned, showing his row of pearly white teeth.

Jin-Ho was wearing a flashy equipments that were only affordable by rich people and even carried a shield and a sword together with him. Jin-Woo was stunned while Seung-Eun looked down at his normal attire and began comparing between the two.

"You look quite young to join us, dongsaeng[1]. What rank are you?" Jin-Ho asked.

'Dongsaeng?' Seung-Eun smiled politely. "D-rank. I came here to fill the member's head count so I'm exempted from fighting."

"That's good." Since Jin-Ho was older, he sort of felt responsible to take care of the young. Jin-Ho patted his shoulder, "Rest assure, half of the Hunters here are C-rank so it shouldn't be hard to clear the Dungeon." His shining armour was reflected by the sunlight and Seung-Eun had to squint his eyes.

"Follow us and take care of our baggages." Hwang Dong-Suk gestured to the two stuffed bags on the ground. Pickaxes and swords were sticking out of it. "Inside there are packed foods, clothes and equipment, a first aid kid... just about everything."

"Are we going without a healer?" asked Jin-Woo warily.

"You know how hard it is to bring a healing Hunter to a personal attack force. We always did it this way."

Jin-Ho noticed the uneasy look on Jin-Woo's face and said, "Don't worry. You have me to protect you."

Jin-Woo chose the heavier bag between the two and let Seung-Eun carry the lighter one. The party headed towards the place the Gate had appeared. On both of their sides were half-constructed buildings.

"Did you guys know?" Jin-Ho walked up to Jin-Woo's right side and spoke in a lowered voice, "The boss ran away overseas with nine billion won just two weeks ago. The workers and funders are having hard time."

When they arrived, they saw that the Gate in front of them was bigger than a normal one.

"The Gate looks a bit too big, but it should be fine, right?" Jin-Ho asked warily, sweat rolling down his forehead.

"Is this your first time?" asked Jin-Woo.

"Yeah... But I didn't expect that it's like this."

"How about you, Seung-Eun?"

"Nope." The younger male replied calmly.

'Compare to him, he probably have more experience in fighting higher monsters than E-rank. He even learnt using sword from Mr. Song.' Jin-Woo eyed the ordinary sword on Seung-Eun's waist.

Hwang Dong-Suk lead the group, followed by his comrades while the three of the people that jad joined today were at the rear. When the Hunters entered Gate, they were greeted by a total darkness.

"Gyu-Hwan, create some light."

"Ok."

The mage-class Hunter created a ball of light from his palm. It illuminated the place instantly and revealed the hollow tunnels around them. However, not a single monster was in sight.

"What is this?"

"Why are there no monsters?"

"Weird. There are no lights as well."

"It's normal for Dungeons to have a few luminous stones."

Jin-Ho turned towards Seung-Eun with a troubled expression. "Are there Dungeons with no monsters?"

"No, there should be."

'Or else, what's the point of having a Dungeon?'

Whilst the others were wary of the strange situation, Seung-Eun used the opportunity to observe the protagonist in action. Jin-Woo had a concentrated look on his face as he used his sense of hearing.

As realisation hit him, he yelled, "It's an insect-type monsters!"

The group quickly scurried to face the tunnels in panicked.

"An insect-type?!"

"Could this be an ant nest?"

"Don't say that!"

"The sound's really close!"

"What? Why can't I see on them?!"

"There are too many tunnels!"

"Can't you see anything?!"

"I can't see anything!"

Jin-Woo interrupted them. "Above!"

As if on cue, numerous giant insects were crawling the tunnel above them heading towards their way. The magician used his magic to create a sparkle of lighting, scattering the insects to the ground. The tank lured them with his glowing shield while the damage dealers sliced them with their weapons. Their teamwork was good, showing that they had been working for some time.

Meanwhile, Jin-Ho was fighting separately using his sword to cut the insects and the shield to protect him from the attack.

The monsters were as huge as an average size an adult male along with red eyes and sharp teeth.

Whilst the other were fighting, Seung-Eun had pulled out the sword from it's sheath, though none of the monsters headed his way. To them, his title was 'ally' so it wasn't surprising. He took the chance to observe the nonchalant person beside him.

The former 'Jin-Woo' would tremble at the sight of C-rank monsters but right now, he was analysing them calmly.

"Hyung[2]," Seung-Eun called, attracting Jin-Woo's attention. "Aren't you afraid of these monsters?"

[2] Hyung= Korean word which means brother.

A/n: Seung-Eun didn't have the exact memories of Solo-leveling from his past life, so he couldn't predict future occurrence. But he did remember that he read the manhwa before his death.
