Chapter 12: Progress
A/n: Updated the first chapter 'Before You Read' so please check number 5 that mentions Warning. Just in case anyone isn't aware yet, this book is based on manhwa so it will contain violence and gore.
I made few mistakes on the ranks because I just found it on the wiki page; Hell's Gatekeeper Cerberus was S-rank not A-rank. Also changed that it took four months to create an S-rank Dungeons.
-----
Other than Jin-Woo, Chi-Yul and the the female Hunter, the others were dead; including the man dressed in suit, the three inmates, and another two low rank Hunters. They were taken by the Korean Hunter Association's Monitoring Division for further investigation.
Seung-Eun's initial plan was to discuss with the swordman master for their lessons but since the middle-aged man was busy, he had no choice but to push the plan tomorrow.
His another plan for tonight was to visit the A-rank Dungeon he created a week ago. If not for those despicable people that dare threw him into the hospital, he would've done this already.
As for analysing back the main character's developments...
First, Jin-Woo entered the low level Dungeon at the Hapjung Station. In here he went from E-rank to C-rank from defeating monsters. It was similar to a game; the player gained EXP and leveled up, so his overall performance improved.
After he defeated Giant Arachnid Buryura in the C-rank Gate along with annihilating the private raid members, he became a B-rank Hunter.
Not long long ago, he fought with Hell's Gatekeeper Cerberus from the S-rank Dungeon so naturally, he became a low A-rank. This was a pure luck. Without the items and bonuses from the system, Jin-Woo wouldn't have been able to defeat those monsters according to his ranks.
Beside that, the daily missions also helped him level up.
It had been several months since Jin-Woo became a player and accepted the system. Along the way, his appearance also changed from short and skinny to taller and grow more muscles. As for his current status...

The private Dungeons Seung-Eun created had a higher difficulty than any normal Dungeons; it was specially designed for 'player'. He always prepared lower level monsters first on the entrance of the Gate. As one went further inside, the difficulty also increased.
So, if a normal Hunter entered the Gate, they wouldn't survive since they already had fixed strength and abilities unlike 'player'.
As for Jin-Woo's job, that too had been finished created by Seung-Eun. It was already done five months ago so there was nothing to worry about. He would soon receive the mission for Job Quest.
As for that S-ranker, Hwang Dong-Su, he would keep an eye on him. If he really went to harm the protagonist, he wouldn't hesitate to strike.
Jin-Woo's current status couldn't be compared to him so naturally he would lose against an S-ranker. On top of that, an S-rank was the highest current rank in South Korea.
Seung-Eun squinted his eyes when the blinding sunlight shone on his face.
It was almost five in the afternoon so Se-Yoon should getting off from work and arrive home around thirty minutes later.
Since there was a convenience store nearby, Seung-Eun bought groceries for dinner. After that, he went to find a deserted place in the alleyway and used the portal to teleport at home.
Peach wallpapers were on the walls of his bedroom. There was a set of study table on the right and in front of him was a cupboard for clothing. On the left was a round table and single couch whilst behind him was a queen size bed.
There was only a frame of his picture and his big brother on the table. As for the polaroid pictures of school sports events held few months ago, he uncaringly kept them under the drawers.
The point of attending school was to educate himself and get closer to the protagonist's sister.
As for making friends, it was his big brother's wish. Originally, he was a very cold and detached person but knowing very well that no one would want to get near him, he had to create this false overly charming facade just to satisfy his brother's wish.
Seung-Eun left the bedroom and placed the groceries on the dining table. Wearing an apron, he began cooking.
Not a while later, Se-Yoon arrived back at home and was greeted by the delicious smell from the kitchen. Looking at the male, he frowned slightly. "I thought that I told you to rest earlier. If you are hungry, you could've order a takeaway."
Seung-Eun didn't move his sight away from the pan as he replied, "I'm really fine, hyung. Beside, I'm going back to school tomorrow." He waved his hand in the air dismissively.
Remembering about the suspension, Se-Yoon decided to talk about it later. "Okay."
After he took a shower and changed his clothes, he saw that his little brother was already waiting for him on the dining table.
There were two bowls of rice, two bowls of vegetable soup, beefs, lettuce wraps and spicy red pepper paste.
Se-Yoon had to admit that his little brother was better in cooking than him.
After they were forced to leave the orphanage, they had no choice but to live together. At the age of 13 and 19 respectively, Seung-Eun became a Hunter while Se-Yoon continued his study.
The two of them began eating.
When Se-Yoon remembered the earlier thought, he said,"Don't cause another trouble at school. This year is your final year so focus on your exams instead."
Seung-Eun, who was about to shove the chopstick into his mouth, had a look of disbelief on his face. "You know that I'm a good student, hyung. I won't seek trouble unless they come to me first. If not for them, I would've a perfect reputation."
'Fighting at school is childish anyway...'
Se-Yoon raised his eyebrows. "You are a Hunter. Don't forget that. Our abilities are better than normal people. If you are too careless, you might accidentally hurt them."
It did happen. But thankfully, he had the system with him to heal them before they could die.
"Fine."
After they finished dinner, the two of them watched an action movie. As people that had higher threshold of fear, they rarely watched horror movie. Seung-Eun ate honey flavoured popcorn and shared it with his brother.
At night, he was working as a nightshift Hunter. Balancing life between school and work wasn't hard. It wasn't everyday he went to work. Enter the Gate, slaughter monsters and sell the magic cores to get income.
He only needed to wait the calls from the Hunters Guild and if he was lucky, he would raid together with Jin-Woo.
At three in the morning, Seung-Eun used the portal for his earlier plan. It wasn't good to be dependant to this system but since Se-Yoon was an assassin class Hunter, he had better senses. Seung-Eun was only a fighter class Hunter. It was possible to use the skill 'Invisible' from the system but using the portal was more convenient.
Now, he stood in front of the A-rank Gate. It was located in a deserted town with only very few residents.
The first thing he sensed when he entered the Dungeon was the humid air. He pulled out a white suit lab from the floating window and wore it to protect himself from getting dirty.
The Dungeon was a modified version of Amazon Rainforest. There were tall, evergreen trees and mosses around him. Only the sound of cicadas could be heard as he walked further inside.
A giant snake, whose height was as tall as first floor of a building, was slithering on the ground, passing him. This was Blue Poison Fang's Rasaka, a C-rank boss monster that Jin-Woo defeated in the Dungeon at Hapjung Station. There were plenty of them stationed here.
Since Jin-Woo already had a higher rank, he wouldn't have difficulty in defeating them.
It was three in the afternoon inside the Dungeon. The sunlight was mostly blocked by the leaves.
A-ranks were the highest Dungeons in South Korea, excluding the S-rank in Jeju Island. If the later actually appeared here, it would be deemed as a national level threat and evoked panic amongst the citizen. When Dungeon Break occured, South Korea would get abandoned.
There were few times when the system automatically generated S-rank Dungeons, but Seung-Eun simply deleted it before anyone discovered. He even made a red window to warn him in case it appeared. It could've been convenient for Jin-Woo later to show his strength, but the problem was that, Jin-Woo still had a mother in a state of comatose. If something happened to his mother, wouldn't it also harm his mental health?
So, Seung-Eun meticulously monitored Jin-Woo and the state of the other world, Dungeons.
But to think that he was only labelled as a side character...
Seriously, he should've been given an extra credit.
