Danielle Wolfe was standing outside Beartooth Academy. Her mother had just left. Dani was waiting by the entrance to see the newcomers to the school. To an outsider Beartooth looked like a normal school, but it held a secret. A furry, scaly, feathery secret. Dani watched the crowds and wasn't paying attention when a brown haired girl her age bumped into her. Dani helped the girl up. "I'm sorry," she said. "I didn't see you there." The girl didn't reply, she just looked at the ground. "I'm Danielle Wolfe," said Dani trying to start a conversation. "Friends call me Dani."

"My name is Catherine Hayes," the girl replied quietly. Catherine glanced around. "So this is Beartooth? Nice place." Dani smiled.

"Yeah it's pretty great," She replied. She then lowered her voice. "So since you're going here, I assume you're one too?" Catherine looked confused. Soon Dani had disappeared, in her place stood a reddish-orange creature with blue eyes. It was a wolf. Dani returned.

"Oh. Yes. I am one," the shy girl replied. She seemed to be getting more comfortable around Dani. "So your surname is Wolfe and your form is a wolf. Subtle." Dani laughed awkwardly.

"Yeah, very subtle." She lowered her voice. "Beartooth has to keep this secret I assume you knew the rules?" Catherine nodded. She reached for something in her bag. It was a piece of paper. "Is this your accepted form?" Catherine nodded. It had all her details but her other form was smudged.

"I believe I'm in your dorm," Catherine said suddenly. "Are there any other girls in it?" Dani shook her head.

"Nope. Only me. Dorms only have space for two people." Catherine brightened.

"At least I don't have to introduce myself to other people for the moment." Dani gave her a look.

"You're really shy, aren't you?"

"It's just this a new school for me and I don't know anyone." Dani nodded in understanding. She lead Catherine to their dorm. There were papers scattered everywhere, most were drawings of different animals. Most were wolves. "You draw too? And they're mostly of the animal you shift into," Catherine stated.

"Yes," Dani replied awkwardly. "But the Not-ters don't know know that."

"Not....ters?"

"The non shifters. You do know the terminology right?"

"Apparently not," Catherine mumbled in reply. Dani didn't let the new girl's lack of knowledge bother her. Catherine looked at Dani.

"Yes?" Dani asked. Catherine didn't answer, instead in her place stood a majestic female White-tailed deer. The doe's fur was the same shade as Catherine's hair. Dani understood immediately. The doe was Catherine. Dani changed into her wolf form. The only thing Dani's form shared with her were the grayish blue eyes. Both girls changed back laughing their heads off at something and Dani had a feeling this was the start of a beautiful friendship.
