Dani was in Biology. Most people thought that Not-ter subject was redundant, them being shifters and all. Dani, however, LOVED.THE.SUBJECT.TO.DEATH. The teacher was friendly and clearly loved her job. She also had this certain way of teaching. Biology was a required subject, not that Dani minded. The teacher was busy handing out a test they'd had a few weeks ago. When Dani got hers, her face whitened in shock. There on the page, written in red ink was 45/50. 90%. Her expression grew blank. Dani, though she liked the not-ter subject, usually only got around 60% - 70%, never 90%. "Danielle got the highest mark." Dani's brain had up and left her skull. What in crackers did she just say? I got the highest mark... Oh wait... She slowly turned her head. Ryker looked to be in complete shock. Kayla and Catherine were congratulating her. She smiled awkwardly. She hadn't realised her and Ryker's eyes had locked until he turned away. Kayla put her hand on Dani's hand and snapped her back to reality.

"Dani," she said. "You look like you've seen a ghost." The teacher wrote something on the board. It was the partners for this year's group project.

"This year," said the teacher, her thick, clearly Russian accent shining through. "The partners are male and female. This way you can learn more about that person. Ryker and Danielle." Dani noticed that Ryker's expression had changed. She got up from her desk, got the topic they had to do and walked over to Ryker's table, while Ben and Tim moved to Kayla's and Catherine's desks, respectively. "Josephine and Mack." Piranha-boy and other girl smiled. The girl walked over to Piranha-boy, and he clearly blushed. Ryker sniggered.

"I know what that's like," he whispered quietly. Dani pretended she didn't hear, because that's probably why he was whispering. His next question caught her off guard. "Do you know what it's like?" He asked pointing at Piranha-boy.

"Um... I don't exactly know what you mean." Ryker made an odd sound.

"Sitting with......" He paused, taking a deep breath,"someone special..."

"Like a crush? Yeah... I do know what it's like." Ryker twitched like she'd hit a nerve and he quickly looked down.

"How? How do you know... I mean..." He murmured, staring hardly at the topic of the project they had to do. He was clearly getting uncomfortable.

"There was this one boy... in grade 7."

"Oh," he replied. "Buuuuuuuut anyway, how about we talk about this amazing topic?!" Dani gave him a look.

"It's about if cloning animals will become a staple in the future," she said, a flat expression on her face. "It's not that amazing, and the point of the project is to learn more about the other person." Dani didn't hide from herself that she was feeling nervous. Ryker was the boy in grade 7. Then her feelings for him had dropped off the face of the earth for a bit, before returning at the end of grade 10.

"Oh," he mumbled. "So what do you like to do after class?" He didn't say school, since Beartooth was a boarding school. Dani stared at him.

"Oh, pfft, nothing much. I just draw and stuff," she replied. Ryker seemed to brighten at the little bit of acting she was doing. Ryker was smiling.

"You draw? Can....... I uh..... see.....?" He asked, sheepishly. Dani nodded.

"Sure, I can show you sometime." Ryker smiled wider.

"I'll look forward to it. I want to see how you'll draw." Ryker looked down at the page again. "How's your family?"

"My family? They're well. Just like a normal family. Yours?" Ryker glanced up.

"Mine? Well it consists of a mom, a dad, a brother, a brother-in-law."

"Do you have a sister?"

"No...."

"Then why do you have a br- ooooh." She said as the reason for the brother-in-law dawned on her. "That's so cool!"

"Yeah, I guess so," his already massive smile widened.
