A couple of weeks had passed, it was now Valentines Day. It was a Thursday. It was hot. Dani, Catherine, and Kayla were in their 'homeroom'. People were passing out gifts to give to their significant others. Ryker passed by their desk and Dani felt a hot blush cross her face. She buried her face in her folded arms, hoping that Catherine and Kayla hadn't seen. Ryker was dorm-mates with Benjamin. He was tall, muscular and had a large tattoo of his name on his right arm. He wore leather jackets and ripped jeans. His hair was an amalgamation of blonde and black. Benjamin was short and slightly rounded. His usual look was t-shirts and pants. Dani looked up again once Ryker had left and saw Timothy. Timothy looked as if he survived a car crash and never recovered properly. He looked like a nerd. Dani didn't know who Timothy was dorm-mates with. Niomi was sitting in a corner, keeping to herself, reading a book. Kayla's dorm-mate never seemed to socialize with anyone. Then there was Quin, who, like Niomi, was reserved. "Who's the boy?" said a voice, startling Dani. It was Kayla. She was looking straight at Dani.

"What boy?" Dani replied, not wanting to know which boy. Morgan burst into the classroom. Well, galloped into the classroom. Morgan was still a horse. He hadn't changed back and went, well landed, on the bookshelf.

"That boy," said Kayla pointing at straight Ryker. Dani felt her face heat up again.

"He's Ryker, shouldn't you know that?" Kayla gave her a look.

"You're blushing..."

"What? N-No I'm not." Catherine looked at them funnily before returning to stare at Timothy. Kayla gave them both looks.

"Looks like Dani Wolfe isn't the only one here who's in love.." Catherine broke away.

"What?" she said.

"I'm not in love." Kayla took them both outside. Kayla looked at Dani first.

"Dani. Tell me how you feel about Ryker..." Dani's face flushed and she averted her eyes. The sand under her feet was soft and welcoming in that moment.

"He's...uh....pretty cool...." Before Kayla could reply, Dani dashed away back to her dorm and sat there. Not speaking, not moving. Her stomach growled suddenly. She was starving! But it wasn't breakfast time now.. She'd missed it. Now I'm hungry! Crap! She thought. She ran into the woods in her wolf form a caught a mouse, ate it and returned. A boy poked his head into the dorm. It was Ryker. He appeared to be talking to someone outside.

"Is this Dani and Catherine's dorm?" He was asking in his deep foreign accent. Dani blushed when he said her nickname, though, she supposed he knew it from elsewhere, since basically everyone called her Dani. Except Morgan, for some reason.

"Yes, I think that's her sitting on the bed," said the not visible person. It's voice was so dark, Dani couldn't tell if it was male or female. Ryker looked straight at her, black eyes on blue-gray.

"Yes. That's definitely her..." Ryker rolled the 'r' at the end of 'her' and Dani wasn't sure what it meant. Ryker started walking out the dorm but he slid a present under his legs. "I was told to deliver that," he said nonchalantly. Dani cautiously picked up package. The tag read From Anonymous.  She undid the wrapper and peeked inside. It was a drawing, and there was a letter attached. The rumours were right about one thing.... She thought as she looked it over. The handwriting was to generic to make out the owner. The picture was of a wolf, an eagle, a cheetah, a deer, a snow leopard and a whale. Dani knew that she'd probably represented the wolf, Catherine the deer and Kayla the Cheetah, but who... or what represented the eagle, the snow leopard and the whale? Was it Ryker and his friends Ben and Tim? Dani suddenly got the feeling this wasn't from one person but...
