Days later was the retreat. Dani was in a three-seater with Catherine and Kayla and the boys were in the seats behind them. Ryker was reading a book and Ben and Tim were playing Rock-Paper-Scissors. Tim and Catherine stole looks at each other. Dani and Kayla sniggered softly. Quin had a virus attack on the bus, momentarily turning into a porcupine, the nurses had not yet found a cure. The Shifta unctrolla virus didn't appear to be contagious, not Quin's strain at least. It'd become quite obvious Quin and Niomi were vibing. At least that's what Dani had heard. She didn't even know what the term 'vibing' meant. The term was Greek to her. "Kayla," she asked, knowing she would most likely know the answer,"What is 'vibing'?" Kayla smiled.

"You and Rykes over there,"she explained like a person teaching another English. "Were 'vibing' before you became boyfriend and girlfriend."

"Oh," Dani said to hide her confusion. She didn't really explain it that well... Kayla seemed to notice her confusion.

"What I mean is-" Kayla paused, and appeared to be searching for words.

"She means you both liked each other before you became a couple," Ben piped in. He glanced around the bus but Dani had a feeling she knew who he was talking about when he added,"I think two people, other than Quiomi, are vibing." It took a few seconds for Dani to realize that Quiomi was Quin plus Niomi. Ah, the art of ship names. She turned to face the front of the bus and winked at it, her friends gave her an odd look. Dani turned to look at Ryker, he was smiling at this conversation.

"Yes, Cathothy," he whispered through the seat. His voice was very quiet. Dani winked at him.

"Yes, and also Benla," She whispered back, to low for her friends to hear. He grinned.

"What are you two whispering about?" Timothy asked.

"Quiomi," Dani lied. It wasn't a complete lie, since the group had been talking about Quiomi. Quin and Niomi sitting near each other, separated by only Merida. The red-head had seemed to catch on. Merida was pretending not to notice Niomi and Quin sneaking glances at each other. Dani wondered if the two introverts even knew they were 'vibing'.

"Quiomi, stop staring you're making me feel uncomfortable," Merida said suddenly, a dark Scottish accent mispronouncing some words. For example she mispronounced 'Quiomi' as "Kwee-oh-mee" not "Kwah-oh-mee". Niomi sat up straight and blushed scarlet red, Quin looked away abruptly. Dani knew immediately that Merida had lied about the 'feel uncomfortable' part. The Scottish red-head was smirking. She caught Dani's gaze and nodded. Merida was going to tease the two introverts. Dani and Ryker also shared a glance.

"You were whispering about Quiomi?" Timothy asked, suspicious. Dani was about to nod when Ryker answered for them.

"Affirmative," Ryker's voice rang out.

"Well, okay then....."

"Cathothy is definitely vibing," Ben whispered to them. "What's the plan?" Kayla joined in the conversation.

"We don't have one yet," Kayla whispered.

"We need one," Dani whispered in reply."This has gone on too long. And besides, let's be honest, it didn't, honestly, take this long for me and Ryker to get together." They gave her a look.

"Right. It's a given, that it didn't take this long for us to confess our feelings, this year at least."

"This year?" Ben and Kayla whispered in unison.

"I had a secret crush on Dani since Grade Nine," Ryker explained in a whisper. He glanced at Kayla. "Remember?" Kayla blushed.

"I'm sorry, I don't remember," She whispered back.

"And I had feelings for Ryker, first for looks, in Grade 7. And when they resurfaced, not for his looks, Grade 10," Dani added. Kayla looked at Dani.

"Well, Ms. Danielle Wolfe, I knew your end," Kayla replied. Then the bus came to a halt. Dani looked out the window. They had stopped at a stop street.

"This end the conversation for now," She whispered, as the bus started again.
