Chapter 65

Fawn pushed her last crate down the Ghost's ramp. She turned round to face the others. They stood with sad expressions and crossed arms. Fawn exhaled and stood before them.

"I uh...I never realised how important you guys really are to me until now. Guess you don't see how important something or someone is until you lose them. But, then and again, I'm not losing you guys. We're parting ways for a while. I swear I'll keep in touch."

Fawn went over to Hera and put her hands on the Twe'lik's shoulders.

"Thank you for everything" she said before embracing Hera.

"Promise me you'll take care of Ezra" Fawn whispered.

"You know I will" Hera answered quietly.

Fawn drew away and gave Hera a small smile for turning to Sabine and hugging her.

"Don't forget about the skills I taught you in artistry" she said.

"Huh, how could I forget?" Sabine rolled her eyes but seemed on the verge of tears.

Fawn went to Zeb and raised a fist.

"I'll see you around big guy" she said, fist bumping with the Lasat.

"Yeah, sure" Zeb replied, ears down.

Fawn's expression was sympathetic as she hugged Zeb. Having to reach up slightly to put her arms around his neck. After drawing away, Fawn crouched before Chopper placing a hand on his dome.

"You do your best to stay out of trouble, okay Chop?" She said.

Chopper warbled and gave Fawn a salute. The Gray Jedi laughed slightly and hugged the astromech.

"You really are the most expressive droid I've ever met" she sighed, standing.

Chopper purred at the compliment. Fawn went to Kanan and smiled at him.

"Good luck with Malacore" she said.

"Yeah, we're gonna need it" the man sighed.

Fawn's eyebrows lifted at the ends and she embraced Kanan.

"Hey Kanan, do me a favour. Keep an eye on Ezra when your on Malacore" Fawn muttered.

"I always have to keep an eye on him" Kanan replied.

Fawn rolled her eyes before drawing away and nodding to Kanan. She then glanced down on Ezra who was avoiding her gaze.

"Hey" Fawn said.

The boy looked up at her.

"This isn't the Ezra I know."

Ezra exhaled and studied Fawn.

"I never wanted to separate from you" he admitted.

"You remind me so much of mum and dad."

Fawn's expression softened.

"That's good to know" she said then motioned to her dragon who came forward.

She took something from Hurricane's saddlebag and gave it to Ezra.

"Here, this is something to remember me by."

"Fawn is this your Dragon Holocron?" Ezra stared.

The object in Fawn's hands was a clear, faint purple triangle shaped box with a small indigo crystal in the center. Fawn called it the Dragon Holocron and Ezra remembered when she first showed it to him.

*Flashback*

Ezra and Fawn watched as Whiplash bounded after a stick that Ezra had just thrown for him.

"He's more like a dog than a dragon" Ezra remarked.

"He can be like that" Hurricane, who was beside Fawn said.

"Are you ever like that?"

"No."

"Liar" Fawn coughed.

Ezra grinned and turned when Whiplash approached him. He dropped the stick to the ground and crouched, the tip of his tail wagging. Ezra laughed and picked up the stick.

"Alright boy, go get it!"

Ezra threw the stick as far as he could. Whiplash bolted after it, growling playfully as the thin wood tumbled down from the air.
"Ezra" Fawn said suddenly.

"Yeah?"

"Have I ever told you about Dragon Holocrons before?"

"No, what are they?"

Fawn reached into her belt pouch and pulled out a purple triangular shaped box.

"This is called a Dragon Holocron. It's is the first one I'd ever made. The other ones are either green or blue. I made mine purple so it's different" Fawn explained.

"How does it work?" Ezra asked interestedly.

"Well, it can only be opened with the true bond of a dragon and rider. You'd be able to do it fine. Your bond with Whiplash is unlike any I've seen before. It's natural and very strong."

Ezra turned his head as his cheeks went a light shade of crimson.

"The Dragon Holocrons hold every bit of knowledge there is about dragons, dragon riding, and even secrets of the ancient records. Only the people I trust own one of these. Hope, Tiambay, and a few other Dragon Riders."

"Would you ever trust me with one?" Ezra asked.

"With a Dragon Holocron? I'd trust you more than anyone else" Fawn responded.

*End Flashback*

"Remember when she asked me if I would trust you with a Dragon Holocron?" Fawn inquired.

"Yeah?"

"Well, here's the proof."

"But this is the original. This is yours" Ezra said.

"I know, and I trust you with my life to look after it."

"Fawn...I...I can't accept this."

"You have to, I'm not taking it back. I want you to have it."

Ezra gazed at the purple box, heart on fire with emotion.

"Okay then, if you're giving me a gift, than I'm giving you your one" he said, reaching into his belt pouch.

He pulled out something and held it in his fist.

"When we last visited Lothal, I dropped by mum and dad's old house. And well..." Ezra trailed off as he looked at his clenched hand.

"I found this for you. I was saving it for your birthday or something like that. But, now seems like the right time to give it to you."

He placed the object in Fawn's hand and the Gray Jedi gasped. A beautiful blue bracelet sat in his palm. There were five different silver charms hanging from the bracelet. A fern, a water droplet, a flame, a spiral, and a bolt of electricity.

"Ezra...I...I..." Fawn was a loss for words.

Instead she looked up at her brother, a soft smile of her face.

"Thank you."

Ezra gave a nod as Fawn placed her hands on his shoulders.

"Keep working on those lightsaber skills will you?" Fawn said.

Then she suddenly embraced Ezra, tears leaking from her eyes.

"You might become a Jedi yet."

Ezra put his own arms around his sister, left hand gripping the Dragon Holocron tightly. Tears were rolling down his face as his heart ached. The dragons and Ghost Crew watched sadly. Would the two Bridger siblings ever meet again? They hoped so. Ezra and Fawn stayed in one anothers arms for a solid minute before drawing away. Ezra then turned and looked at his dragon who stood a few feet away from him.

"Whiplash" he said.
