My dear editor, I did not realize this was a sad occasion as the thought of the A Series of Unfortunate Events passing onto endless generations of readers and volunteers. I have no idea when this a series of unfortunate events for the volunteers will finally come to an end; for the world is a cruel and vast place, especially now that the man with a beard but no hair and the woman with hair but no beard, has once again decided to get their filthy hands on V.F.D.'s most precious sugar bowl. Sadly I cannot make this brief letter any longer as I will be meeting E.F., and my newest apprentice at any moment now, so I shall say my sad farewell.
