"I loved you, Park Chanyeol! And you've just decided as if that doesn't matter! As if I meant anything to you that day you asked me to move in; or when you talked about our future together? How am I supposed to let that go!?" Kyungsoo yelled.
Chanyeol was internally warring with himself as he listened to Kyungsoo yell at him, and he knew he deserved it but never in his life had he imagined he would mean so much to another person. And to see Kyungsoo near tears yelling at him for breaking his heart, had Chanyeol mystified and mute.
Maybe Baekhyun had been a bad idea, and he wouldn't even allow them to go public with their relationship. And what would happen if Chanyeol suddenly got down on one knee, expecting happiness from the latter only to see a look of petrification? Baekhyun isn't the safest road to travel, there are bumps and gapping holes. And then with Kyungsoo . . .
He was safe. He wouldn't leave Chanyeol in the middle of night wondering what he did wrong. He would talk about his feels and seek help because he was set on getting better. But with Baekhyun.... He's just disaster after disaster, and that wouldn't be stable ground for a new and fragile relationship to prosper and grow. It would end painfully, but as Chanyeol looked at Kyungsoo and saw all the possibilities of loving him neatly laid out before him, he didn't want something safe and predictable.
He wanted the untamable.
"Well, answer me!" Kyungsoo cried.
Chanyeol snapped out of his thoughts then and met Kyungsoo's tear-streaked face, guilt flickered across his own face before he quietly said, "I'm so sorry, Kyungsoo, I never meant to hurt you." And with that said, Chanyeol pivoted around on his heel and marched into the lair of the lion.
There would be no holding back anymore.

Baekhyun frustratedly ran his hands through his hair after getting off the phone with his father, who per the usual, had made arrangements to fly to Seoul to see how he was doing. And there couldn't be a worse possible time, what with his relationship with Chanyeol now teetering on the edge due to his own fear of commitment. He wouldn't be able to handle it all if his father was there too breathing down his neck, salivating for the moment Baekhyun showed the slightest hint of weakness.
He was just getting ready to page Chanyeol, to tell him they would have to cool their relationship until his father left. As he was about to hit the call button, his heavy mahogany doors opened up and he glanced up with a smile, words already falling from his lips when he realized who stood in his doorway.
His cheeks immediately drained of all their color as he shakily said, "Baek–Baekbeom, I wasn't expecting to see you, h–hello."
Baekbeom smiled back thinly as he replied, "I flew out yesterday for dad, since he's not able to visit himself. How is everything, Baekhyun?" His brother asked curiously as he let the doors close with a muffled slam behind him.
A weak smile twitched at Baekhyun's lips as he stood up, he walked around his desk as he offered, "Would you like a cup of coffee or tea?"
Baekbeom merely shook his head and smirked as he watched his brother flounder and flush right before him; he hasn't seen him so unorganized in years. And he had his suspicions of what it meant, but he knew Baekhyun wouldn't so easily make the mistake of showing his weaknesses. He would have to wait it out, and let the thread unravel itself because it always did, and then he would get his answer.
"So besides checking up on me for dad, is there anything you need because I'm busy," Baekhyun said, a hint of bravo slipping back into his voice.
"Okay then, I'd like to see the file from—-"
Just then Baekbeom was cut off by the sound of Baekhyun's office doors opening once again. They both glanced up curiously, and Baekhyun began to pale when he saw the last person in the world he wanted anywhere near his brother.
He didn't get a chance to speak —- to voice his thoughts and fears —- before Chanyeol was clasping his hands on either side of Baekhyun's cheeks and pulling him into a kiss. Baekhyun gasped and tried pushing him away, but Chanyeol was too overpowering and bent on making his point. Baekhyun couldn't resist, and as he finally allowed himself to kiss Chanyeol back, the world fell away and every problem and worry melted with it.
They kissed, and it was a good kiss filled with unspoken words and pent-up emotions, all of which they managed to expression through their kiss. Chanyeol was able to tell Baekhyun he wouldn't hide the way he felt, because he believed they were stronger than that; while Baekhyun spilled all of his worries and insecurities. An filled with new resolve too, Baekhyun gathered strength from Chanyeol's bravery, as he planned to use it on his family.
When their kiss broke, Chanyeol leaned his forehead on Baekhyun's and whispered, "Don't ask me to hide, I can't do it . . ."
"Then I hope you enjoy the freedom," Baekhyun replied before he stepped away from Chanyeol and turned to his brother. His face was expressionless as he said, "Baekbeom, I'd like to introduce you to my boyfriend, Park Chanyeol."
