Magazines ruin lives

Alya grabbed her pen and notebook from her desk, placing them in her purse. She slipped on her beige trench coat, and stumbled as she got her black army boots on, then headed for the door.

She lived in an apartment, her room on the sixth floor. She liked to go down the stairs, instead of taking the elevator. She liked being in a quiet space, since most days she would be the only one there. She would think about some ideas for her job, or she would remind her self that she had a date with Nino the same night. Alya liked to go off to her own space, without the noises that the elevator let off. Only when she was late for something, would she take the elevator.

When she reached the lobby, she gave her normal Good morning to the desk workers. As she got outside she took a deep breath of the fresh, misty air of Paris, then made her way through the old buildings on her way to work.

The sky was cloudy, with only a peak of sun cascading down on some of the lucky buildings. A quiet breeze in the cool air of autumn.

Every day she would walk the same rout to the office. The building wasn't to far from her apartment, only five blocks away.  Though it's hard in the harsh winter days and when it's pouring rain, that's when she would call a taxi. Today, it wasn't raining, but not exactly the nicest of days. But she didn't mind.

On her way, there would always be a news stand on the second street's corner. Every now and then, she would buy a magazine from it. She would always search for her old friend's face. His blond hair, emerald eyes, and sweet smile, would catch her attention. She probably had every magazine of him posing on the cover.

Alya spotted her friend's magazine, immediately picking it up from its slot. He wore a green sweat shirt underneath a black trench coat. Instead of his signature sweet smile, he had a devious smirk. It shocked Alya, since she had never seen Adrien like that. He looked like he was dangerous, and has high ego. It wasn't like him.

She shrugged it off, since he most likely got told to do that from the photographer. It was just a silly pose for marketing. That's all. (hehe not;))

She started reading the small caption, that was placed beside Adrien's head.
She gasped at what it read.

Adrien, the model we have all come to know and love. Announces in an interview with Elise Benoit, that he is quitting modeling for good. Find out more on page 15.

She immediately opened the magazine, flipping to the correct page.

"Hey! You open it, you buy it."

Alya turned around to see an irritated salesman. She took out her wallet, giving him his two dollars, with an apologetic look.

She sat herself down on a bench that wasn't far away, flipping the pages to page 15. She began reading the article.

Adrien Agreste, the model we've come to adore from when he first started at the age of 10, till now at 23. Is out of no where, quitting his modeling career.

In a interview with Elise Benoit, she asked "How long do you think you are going to keep up this modeling career of yours?" There was a moment of hesitation, he rubbed his neck nervously, then answered, "Actually, the next photo shoot I'm going to have, for Paris Times, is going to be my last." Elise quietly gasped, then asked, "Why is that?" Agreste chuckled nervously, then replied, "Well, I feel like modeling isn't what I'm supposed to do with the rest of my life. Like I could do more then just pose in front of a camera."

Elise tried to find out what exactly he wanted to do next in his career. Unfortunately, he kept dodging the question.

Does he know what he wants to do, but is just waiting for the right moment to tell us? Or, does he not know his future yet? Stay tuned for more about Agreste, in the Paris Times.

At this point, Alya's head was swimming with questions. She had to find out more about this. She was already 5 minutes late, so she had to quickly speed walk over to work.

----------------

Alya nocked on Elise's office door. Eager to find out more about the interview.

When she got permission, Alya swung open the door, quickly shutting it behind her, then took her place on a chair.

Alya took out her pen and notebook from her purse. She looked up at her blond, hazel eyed friend, waiting for answers.

Elise looked confused, tilting her freckled face.

"Um, hi Alya. Do you need anything?" She asked worriedly, in her sweet tone.

"Elise, I need information on Adrien Agreste, and fast!" Alya placed her pen on the paper, ready to start writing.

"Oh, you read the article? Strange, right? It was so out of the blue."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Just tell me more about the interview. In the article, it barley said anything about the rest of the interview after the reveal."

"That is true," Elise agreed, "so you want to know what I asked him after that, requiring to the prior question?"

Alya nodded, "And his answers, yes."

"Okay," Elise turned around, and opened a cabinet. She took out a file with Adrien's name and the date of the interview on it. She placed it on her desk and opened it, taking out the last page. For a short moment, yet it felt like an decade to Alya, in her mind Elise read over the page.

When she found what Alya wanted, she looked up at Alya with a smile, signaling her to get ready for what Elise was about to say.

"I asked What exactly do you want to do after your modeling career is done? he answered with I've figured out a part of what exactly I want, but it's not a full picture yet. You getting this?" Elise asked.

"mhm"

"Okay. The next question I asked was, How is your father taking the news? Is he supportive with your choice? He suddenly had a stern expression on his face. He answers with, He is my father, he wasn't to sure about it at first, since I've been doing this for so long. But he says nothing else."

"Hmm. That's strange." Alya mummers.

"The last question was Did you enjoy your time as a model? He bluntly answered with Of course."

Alya finished up writing, and looked up at Elise.

"That's it?"

Elise nodded, frowning.

Alya sighed, giving a small smile to Elise.

"Thank you for your help, Elise. That helped a lot."

"No problem, what are friends for?" She smiled sweetly back.

Alya stood up from her chair, putting her notebook and pen back into her purse, then made her way to the door.

"Alya?" She turned around to face her friend, "May I ask why you wondered about Adrien Agreste?"

"He's an old friend from high school."

Alya left without any other explanation, leaving her shocked friend behind. Alya didn't want to bother answering Elise's questions. Her mind was sent on finding out more on Adrien. She'd tell Elise all the gossip later.

-------------

When Alya arrived at her office, which was on the other side of the building from Elise's office. For once she was happy she was so far away from her friend. That meant Elise won't be able to come after her and ask questions, knowing that Elise was a lazy person.

Alya plopped herself on her spinning chair, and grabbed her cellphone from her purse.

She dialed the numbers that she memorized and waited. After about three rings it picked up.

"Hello?" It called from the other line.

"Nino, have you read the new Paris Times?"

"I'm doing great. Thank you for asking," he said sarcastically, "And yeah, I did. He told me before the interview what he was going to say. Why?"

"What?! Nino tell me why! Tell me what he wants to do next as a career! Tell me!!"

"Okay, okay, calm down. He said that he was tired of doing what his father wanted him to do. He never knew what he wanted in life until a few months ago, he had some time to figure it out, and find out how to tell everyone."

Alya already had her notebook out, writing what Nino was telling her.

"Really? Then what does he want now?"

There was a long moment of silence.

"Nino!"

"Sorry, sorry, I'm back. I'm at work right now. Anyways, He didn't exactly say what, but he did say that he wanted more of a challenge. He wanted to help others in need. That's all I could get out of that stubborn child."

He chuckled.

"Hmm. Help others in need?"

"Oh no, don't tell me you are on another one of those reporter hunts?"

Alya smirked, even though she knew he couldn't see her.

"You know it."

There was a groan on the other side of the line. Alya laughed at her irritated boyfriend.

"Oh, I almost forgot," Nino said, "Tonight is the last show of my tour, I'm coming back to Paris tomorrow afternoon." He said excitedly.

"Oh my heavens, really? That's amazing! Oh, that reminds me. Marinette is coming back from her trip in Italy tomorrow night as well."

"Wow, that was convenient." he laughed.

Alya gasped. She had the perfect idea. It was so good that she patted herself on the shoulder.

"Nino, I have an amazing idea. How about we have a reunion. You, me, Marinette, and Adrien. Just like the good old days. So we can catch up and I can find out about Adrien's secret."

"I'm up for it. Any chance to have time with you and the rest of the gang is gold. But i'm not sure if Adrien will be up for it. Especially, him knowing you and how you work. He will expect you will try to get him to spill, and that you won't stop for nothing."

"Then I'll just pretend to not know about it. I'll wait a few days to ask him, so it's not suspicious." Alya smiled, mentally congratulating herself for her quick witted mind.

Nino laughed.

"I feel bad for him. He won't know what hit him. Especially, since he is so oblivious to everything around him."

Alya laughed with him.

Adrien was so oblivious that he doesn't even know he is. It's something that Nino and herself knew. Marinette had no clue about it, since herself is extremely oblivious as well. Those two were meant for each other.

Maybe while she is interrogating Adrien, she could also get those two together. It was going to be a tough job, but she could do it with Nino's help.

"Then I wish you luck. Even if he is extremely oblivious, he is still stubborn as a rock."

"Just let me handle him, Nino. I'm going to have wrapped around my finger once I mention Marinette is going as well."

The duo started laughing. They both knew, ever since high school, that the two had a crush on each other. Even if Adrien was late to figure it out, and didn't show it much. Thank the heavens they are still single.

Soooooo it started out as 1791 words. Then I started editing it. And, um......1902 words. Hehe again sorry. I honestly have no idea where this is going, but I hope it ends up good. This won't be like my other stories that have 2-3 chapters. I'm going to try to get past my limit, past my comfort zone with this one. So I really hope you enjoy this. The waits for the chapters with probably be short since I have no life. Do make sure you keep your eye open. This ending note has already become way to long...oops
Anyway, make sure to vote, comment and all that stuff. Bye bye!
