Christmas.

"Merry Christmas, Nova!  You wanna see what Santa brought us to play with?" Grayson says in a cheerful voice. He was a morning person just like his dad.

"No!" Nova pouts and rubs her eye while holding her bear in the other.

"Oh Novies! Be happy, mama! It's Christmas!" Jessica smiles.

"No!"

"She's such a little mess." Danny laughs.

"Come on, hold my hand so we can go downstairs and open presents!" Grayson takes her little hand.

"Okay!" Nova smiles.

"Haha!  Now she's happy!  You're such a silly girl!" Jessica smiles.

The kids rip open their gifts as the dog has a ball with all of the wrapping paper covering the ground.

"I love this!  All of our babies together opening presents.. it makes me so happy." Jessica smiles.

"It's pretty great." Danny wraps his arm around her and Jessica lays her head on him.

"Now that everyone is here would you guys like to know the babies names?" Caroline asks.

"Yes!  Tell us!" Jessica quickly sits up.

"Mama No!" Nova points her finger at her mother.

"I'm sorry!  I forgot, you don't like for me to be loud!" Jessica chuckles.

"Heh!  Well we wanted our little man to have the same middle name as daddy and brother, so we decided on Liam Alexander and baby girl is Lyla Jane."

"Jane is for grandma Shepard." James smiles.

"Aw!  Kids, I love them!"

"Thank you!  We're so excited to meet our little babies." Caroline smiles softly as she holds her belly in her hands.

"You wanna show them what the hospital sent us?" James asks.

"Sure!"

James grabs his bag and pulls out a bear.

"Oh!  Heh, that's cute" Jessica smiles.

"They send these bears out to parents that have lost their babies like we did.. it's made to be the weight of the baby, and this little heart right here is material from his baby blanket he was wrapped in." Caroline takes the bear away from James and hands it to Jessica.

"Oh.. oh wow, that's so sweet." Jessica says with tears in her eyes as she holds the bear close to her.

She smiles softly and a single tear rolls down her cheek.

"That little sweater.. they made that when they found out I was pregnant.  Isn't that sweet?"

"That's very sweet.
... He'll always be apart of this family.. he's always a Shepard."

"Thank you so much." Caroline wipes her tears.

"Happy Valentine's Day, baby!" Danny walks into the kitchen and kisses Jessica's cheek.

"Thanks, honey! I'm making heart shaped pancakes so go sit."

"Yummy! Morning kiddos!"

"Morning!" Grayson smiles.

"Dada!" Nova smiles and lifts her heads.

"Hey pretty girl!" Danny picks her up, kisses her cheek then sits on his lap.

"Hey Samuel!"

"Hi Grandpa!" Samuel waves.

"Gigi yummies!" He points to Jessica.

"Gigi is yummy!"

"Danny!" Sam makes a face.

"Sorry!" Danny laughs.

"Yeah she's making yummy food, huh?"

"Yeah!" Samuel nods.

"Okay, breakfast is served!"

"Yay! Thank you, momma!" Grayson smiles.

"You're welcome, baby!"

"Hey mom, will you watch Sam so me and my lady can go out tonight?"

"Sam, Danny and I have plans."

"Heh! But you're old."

"We are not!"

"But you have kids."

"So do you!"

"But we wanna go out!" Sam whines.

"Jessie, we can just stay in." Danny says.

"But Danny! We were gonna go out and have dinner. Alone!"

"Well we can go another time."

"No!"

"Sam, let them go out." Tiffany says.

"Wait! I'll just leave him with grandma! Ah, I'm so happy that woman is still around!" He says getting his phone out to call his grandmother.

"Samuel!" Jessica chuckles.

"Dammit!"

"What happened?"

"She has a date!"

"Oh! Well alright, Jane!" Jessica smirks.

"Listen, grandma Dottie is watching Gray and Nova, we can just ask Danny's mother to watch them and you two bring Sam to your grandparents."

"Okay great!"

"Once again momma fixes everything!" Jessica smiles.

That evening Danny and Jessica got dressed up and took the kids to Zoe's house before dinner.

"It's such a nice night, isn't it?"

"It is. It's beautiful.. almost as beautiful as you." Danny smiles.

"Aw Stop it!" Jessica giggles.

"It's true!"

"Alright, Alright, let's stop."

Danny chuckles and takes a sip of his wine.

"So James told me he and Caroline were going out tonight!"

"Oh that's big! Caro's not a huge fan of leaving the house these days is she?" Danny laughs.

"No she is not! But I understand. Being pregnant with twins is no joke!"

"It's weird to think you had twins!"

"Mhm! Many many years ago!" Jessica laughs.

"Crazy to think I was pregnant for the first time twenty four years ago."

"That is a long time ago!" Danny chuckles.

"Tell me about it!
It's exciting now that it's their time to have the babies."

"Yep! One grandson and two little grand babies on the way!"

"I'm so excited for those cute little chunkers!"

"So am I! All this baby booming is just getting started! Zachary and Alyssa won't be too far behind them."

"You think?"

"Well maybe.  Zach was talking to me about maybe proposing to her."

"You're kidding me! No way!"

"I'm serious!"

"How come you didn't tell me?!"

"It slipped my mind!"

"Slipped your mind? Our baby boy wants to get married?!"

"Yep!"

"That's so sweet! I really like her. So far we've lucked out with our daughter in laws."

"You know why?"

"Why?"

"Because our sons have you as an example of how a lady should be. A good heart. Classy.. a little sassy.. and so so beautiful." Danny smiles softly and takes her hand.

"Aw.. Daniel!" Jessica smiles.

"Love you, baby girl." Danny kisses the back of her hand.

"I love you too."

March 22nd.

James and Caroline were over at Danny and Jessica's house and Caroline was beyond ready for these babies to be born.

"You look so beautiful, sweetie!" Jessica smiles and rubs her belly.

"Thank you, Jessie. I hope it's over soon.. I just don't think I can be pregnant for much longer!"

"Aw sweetie, I know it's difficult, I really do.. but you're almost done! Your babies are almost here." Jessica smiles.

"I know.. and I'm so happy and excited for them.. I'm just getting really nervous! What if I can't do it?" She cries.

"Sweetheart.. you have gone through the most heartbreaking thing possible. This is only pain.. you'll see your babies soon and that's all that matters."

"Jessie, you're right. Oh gosh, you're so right! Thank you so much." Caroline hugs her.

"Oh honey, it's no problem."

Caroline smiles softly and rubs her back.
"Now if you'll please excuse me, I have to use the restroom."

"Oh of course!" Jessica helps her up.

"Mama, babies!" Nova points.

"That's right, pretty girl! She's got babies in there!"

"Ya!" She nods.

"Haha! You little cutie!"

"Hey Sam! Get over here, you turd." Samuel calls his son.

"What Dad!"

"You know Gigi gets really mad when she's called granny or grandma."

"She does?"

"Yep! It makes her feel old."

"Haha! Granny! Granny! Granny!" Samuel runs screaming making his father laugh.

"That's my boy!"

"Samuel! My name is Gigi!"

"No you a old granny!" He laughs.

"Did your mean daddy tell you to call me that?"

"Yep!"

"Well tell him I'm gonna give him a pow pow!"

"Haha! Daddy, Gigi say she gonna give you a pow pow!"

"No way!"

"No way Jose!" Samuel says.

"You boys are a mess!" Jessica laughs.

After dinner Caroline started having mild cramping. She sat down on the couch and just tried to relax.

"Dat babies? Da babies?" Nova pokes her stomach.

"Yeah, Nova! That's the babies in there!"

"Hi babies!" Nova gets excited and hits her belly.

"Nuh uh! Be gentle, mama." Jessica says.

Nova's eyes slightly widen and she softly caresses her stomach before kissing it and laying her head down on it.

"Aw! That's such a sweet girl!" Caroline smiles and rubs her back just as she feels water trickling out of her.

"Pee pee! Mama, pee pee!" Nova points.

Jessica gasps and jumps up.
"Oh my gosh!"

"Ewww! She peed on herself!" Grayson makes a face.

"No honey, her water just broke. Danny! Come in here! James! Get over here!" Jessica shouts.

"What's wrong?" James asks.

"My water just broke!"

"Oh God! Oh my gosh, we have to go! Sam, will you go to our house and pick up our bags? Oh gosh.. mommy, come with us!" James grabs Jessica's arm.

"I'm going with you, baby! Oh my gosh! The babies are coming!!" She screams.

Danny stayed with the kids while Jessica went to the hospital with James and Caroline.
Early the next morning he packed everything up and went to the hospital.

March 23rd.
7:00 am.

"Oh I can't. I can't do it anymore! James!" Caroline cries.

"Honey, you can do it! Do it for Liam and Lyla, baby.. they're almost here."

Caroline nods her head and holds his hand.
James and Caroline's mother couldn't help but tear up watching them.
Caroline was so strong, and James was so sweet with her.  It was beautiful to see.

"They're gonna have their babies! These two deserve so much happiness."

"Yep.. They sure do." Jessica says before looking down at her phone to check the time.

"Oh my gosh!"

"Everything okay?" Susan asks.

"Yeah. Heh.. yeah everything... everything is perfect." Jessica smiles while staring at James and Caroline.

Susan was confused but didn't question it.

One hour later.

"Dada, Ma mama!" Nova fusses.

"Mama's coming out here, Princess!  I just called her and told her you were hungry."

"Tits!" Nova hits her chest.

Grayson nods his head and smirks.

"When is she gonna stop eating that?!"

"She doesn't nurse as much, but she's fussy today so that's why."

"Oh.. it's pretty gross."

"You did it too!" Danny laughs.

"I don't like thinking about that."

Danny chuckles.

"Mama!  Mama!" Nova runs to her mother.

"Hi my baby!" Jessica picks her up.

"TITS!" She pulls on Jessica's shirt and screams so loud people turn to them.

"Well that's not embarrassing at all." Jessica walks over to sit beside Danny.

"Hi Gray!  How are you?"

"Good!  Are the babies out yet?"

"Not yet." Jessica smiles softly.

"Hey baby." She pecks Danny on his lips.

"Hey!  How are things going?" He asks helping her put her nursing cover on.

"Great!  She's getting close!"

"That's awesome!  I'm so happy for them."

"So am I." Jessica smiles.

30 minuets later.

"Okay Caroline. Ready to have some babies?"

Caroline breathes heavy and nods.

"Okay, deep breath in and push down hard."

Caroline pushes as hard as she can as the baby slowly comes down.

"Push, Push, Push!"

"Ah!" Caroline lets out a deep breath as they lay the baby on her chest.

"Oh my gosh! Oh it's my baby girl!
Oh.. hello Lyla! I'm your mommy, sweet girl!"

She screams and cries as her parents cry along with her.

"She's so beautiful." James says.

"I know, she's perfect! Oh you're so precious, my sweet angel!"

...

"Alright, Lyla! You baby brother is on his way so we're gonna snatch you away from your mommy for just a second, okay."

"Oh gosh, I don't wanna do it again." Caroline chuckles and hands the baby back.

"Push baby! Push, Push! Our baby boy is almost here!"

"Ah! OW!" Caroline shouted as her baby boy came out and was placed on her chest.

Caroline sobs uncontrollably when she holds her son.
He looked so much like his daddy and big brother.

"You look like brother, don't you, Liam. Oh you're just precious, sweet boy." Caroline speaks in a calm and soothing voice.

"I love you so much. You are an incredible woman. Thank you so much for giving me not just one.. but three beautiful babies."

"I love you, James." Caroline says with a teary smile.

They clean both of the babies up and Jessica stares at them with tears rolling down her cheeks.

"They're so adorable, you too!"

"Thank you, Jessie!"

The nurses hand Liam to James and Lyla to Caroline.  They then tell them the date and times they were born.

"March twenty third.. heh.. March— Wait!" James widens his eyes.

"What's wrong, baby?" Caroline asks.

"March twenty third.. today is my father's anniversary."

"I know! I noticed a few hours ago!" Jessica chuckles.

"He was determined to make this a happy day, wasn't he?"

"That's right. Hey and a year ago was when we find out that baby Lucas was a boy!"

Caroline places her hand on her chest smiles softly.

"It truly is a special day, baby." Jessica rubs James' back and smiles at his newest little grandson.

"Yeah.. heh.. Thanks Dad." James looks up and whispers with a soft smile on his face.
