The next morning Jessica woke up and climbed on top of Danny. 

"Danny today's our baby girl's birthday!  She's one!" She shouts and shakes him a little.

Danny slowly opens his eyes and focuses them on Jessica.
He chuckles and places his hand on her waist.

"I'm gonna go wake her up!"

Jessica rolls off of him and runs to Nova's room.

"Good morning, my princess!"

Nova was already awake with her binky in her mouth.  She looked to her mother with sleepy eyes.

"Happy Birthday, Novies!" Jessica picks her up and kisses her cheek.

"You're one year old today!  Can you show me one?" Jessica says holding her finger up.

Nova lifts her tiny finger.

"Good job, baby girl!"

Nova smiles and throws herself down on her shoulder.

"Let's go say good morning to daddy."

Nova lifts her head and kicks her legs with excitement.

"Yeah Daddy!" Jessica giggles.

"The birthday girl is up!" She says walking into their bedroom.

"Hey pretty girl!" Danny smiles.

Nova reaches for her father until he takes her from Jessica.

"Happy Birthday, Lovebug!" Danny kisses her cheek.

"How are you one already?  That's so crazy!"

Jessica climbs up on the bed and rests her body beside them.
"She's a big girl now!  Aren't you, Novies?
Now you just need to talk!" Jessica taps Nova's nose making her giggle.

"Can you say mama?"

"No because she's gonna say dada!  Isn't that right, Nova?" Danny smiles as he speaks to his daughter in a baby voice.

"In your dreams, old man!" Jessica laughs.

"Tell daddy mommy's right!"

Nova just looks at her parents with her pacifier in her mouth.

"She's never gonna talk with this in her mouth!" Danny says taking the pacifier out of her mouth.

"Ah!  Ahh!" Nova quickly gets irritated.

"Awe Danny, don't take her paci away!  Say that's not nice, dada!" Jessica says that last part in a high voice.

"Ahh!  NO!"

Jessica and Danny gasp.

"She just said no!"

"Well she sure shut us up, didn't she?" Danny chuckles.

"She did!  She didn't say mama OR dada!  You little stinker!"

Nova snatches her pacifier away from Danny and sticks it in her mouth.  She sucks on it and looks at her parents.

"You little booty!
..Look at this beautiful baby, Danny."

"I know.. How is she so perfect?"

"I don't know.." Jessica smiles and softly caressed Nova's cheek.

"Oh right!  You're her mother, that's how she's so perfect!"

"Heh!  Very cheesy, Mr. Huston."

"I try!" Danny shrugs.

Jessica laughs and holds his cheek as she softly pecks his lips.

"No!" Nova says making her parents turn to her.

"No kisses?" Jessica chuckles.

"Muah! Muah!" Nova open and closes her mouth.

"Oh YOU want the kisses!  Well of course my little darling!" Jessica smiles as she and Danny both kiss Nova's cheeks making her let out the cutest little giggle.

"Happy Birthday, sissy!  I'm so happy you're here because I needed a friend and now we're BEST FRIENDS!"

"Awe baby!" Jessica smiles.

"What?  I'm so sweet?" Grayson smirks.

"Yes!" She laughs.

"Yeah I know!"

Jessica holds his cheeks and gives him a kiss.

"You love my kisses, don't you, Momma?"

"I love them so so much, Grayson!"

"Yeah cause I give Goooood kisses!" Grayson nods making Jessica laugh.

After breakfast Jessica bathed Nova and got her dressed for her first birthday party.

"Oh look at you, little Miss Nova!  You're so beautiful!"

Nova smiles and nods her head.

"You cutie!  You know exactly what mama is saying, don't you?  You're such a smart baby!"

Nova crawls to Jessica and climbs into her lap.

"You just want cuddles, mama?" Jessica hugs her and kisses her cheek over and over again making Nova giggle.

"I love that little laugh!"

"The birthday girl!  Come here, beautiful baby!" Anjelica says taking her from Jessica.

"Happy Birthday!"

Nova blows spit bubbles and kicks her legs.

"Oh yucky!  Don't spit on your auntie!" Jessica says as Anjelica laughs.

"It's okay!  Are you having a good birthday so far?"

"No!"

Jessica laughs.
"She learned how to say no today, but I'm not quite sure she knows how to use it yet!"

"Hah!  You said your first word on your birthday?!  And it wasn't mama or dada?" Anjelica gasps trying to make Nova laugh.

"I know!  It was Danny's fault!  He took her binky away from her-"

Anjelica gasps.
"You never take away Nova's paci, Daniel!"

"Right?!  Well Novies got a little irritated and screamed No!  Before she snatched it back!"

"You tell him, Nova!" Anjelica says making Nova giggle.

Nova was sitting on the floor playing with Asher and Samuel while Grayson played with McKenna and Riley.

Nova picks up one of Samuel's toys and he gets upset.

"Dada!  Dada!" He says hitting Sam's leg.

"What?"

"Ah!" He points to Nova who was looking up to her big brother with her big beautiful eyes.

"Be nice and let her play with it, Sam."

He starts crying so Sam hands him another toy.
"Look at this, you have all these other toys around you!  Be nice, you little turd."

Samuel throws the toy his father handed him and reaches over to snatch his toy from Nova, making a sad expression appear on her sweet little face.

"Samuel, no!"

"MINE!" He says pushing Nova to her back.

"Samuel!  That is no way to treat your aunt!" Sam says picking Nova up and walking over to the kitchen where Jessica and his aunts were.

Meanwhile Sarah is cracking up at what Sam just said.

Nova had tears in her eyes as she rubbed them.

"Awe what's the matter with the birthday girl?!" Jessica baby talks.

"Samuel was being mean and not sharing his toys with her, then he knocked her over.  I've gotta teach her to fight back, don't I Novies?"

Nova looks at Jessica and throws herself towards her.

"Awe baby, come here!" Jessica takes her and kisses her cheek before Nova lays on her shoulder.

"You're okay, Princess." She says lightly bouncing up and down as she gently pats her bottom.

"Go get after Samuel!" Sam says.

"I'm not gonna do that!"

"Why not?  That kid has gotten to be so bad!"

"Well isn't karma a bitch, baby?" Jessica squeezes his cheeks on her hand.

"Very funny, mom!  Just go tell him because he doesn't listen to me!"

Jessica walks into the living room and sees Samuel now playing by himself.

"Samuel." She says sitting on the couch beside him.

He turns to her and she says, "Sammy, were you not sharing your toys with Nova?"

"Mine!"

"Awe.. Well Nova's my baby!  You don't want to her my baby do you?  That makes Gigi so so sad!" Jessica speaks in a sad tone.

"Sad?"

"Yeah.."

Samuel looks down and grabs the toy before holding it up towards Nova.

"Oh what a sweet boy!  Nova, you wanna play with Samuel?"

Nova turns and nods her head slowly as she sniffles.
Jessica sits her down and gives them each a kiss.

"You two play nice!"

Sam watches and does a slow clap.
"Very impressive."

"Well thanks!  I've had a lot of practice!" Jessica laughs.

While all of this was going on, Danny, George and James were all outside talking.

"So how are you and Caroline?"

James sighs.
"We're doing okay.. I'm trying to get her to take a trip with me."

"Oh really, to where?"

"Rome."

"Oh wow!"

"Yeah, I'll go with you!" George says making him laugh.

"I think it'll be good for us to travel right now... and why not, you know?  We're both young.. We can take off of work.. We can afford it."

"Yeah, you might as well." Danny says.

"When are we leaving?" George asks.

"Heh!  I'm hoping for July but I'm not sure."

"Well I think that's great!  It'll be good for you two."

James nods.
"I think so too.."

Jessica's siblings, Anjelica and James and Caroline stayed after the party had ended.  They were all just talking and having a great time.

Jessica was holding Nova's hands and walking back and forth with her.  Nova laughed and laughed while doing so.

"Why does she think it's so funny, mommy?!" Grayson laughs.

"I don't know, baby!"

"Nova, you can walk by yourself, pretty girl!  Walk to me!" Grayson claps his hands and holds them out to her.

"No." She answers in her cute little voice.

Jessica laughs.

"You silly goose! Can I help her walk, mommy?" Grayson asks.

"Sure baby.  Here, hold her little hands and follow her.  Don't go too fast."

"Got it!"

Grayson walks around with her for a while before looking into her eyes.

"Are you ready to walk now, Princess?  You can walk to mama!"

Nova's eyes light up and she bounces up and down with excitement.

"Yeah Momma!" Grayson laughs.

Grayson turns her to Jessica and says, "Go Novies!  Walk to mama, pretty girl!"

He lets go of her hands and she immediately brings her tiny hands to her mouth.

Jessica takes notice of her baby girl standing by herself for a while.

"What are you doing, Princess?" She smiles.

"She's gonna walk, mommy!  I told her too!" Grayson says.

Nova claps her hands and giggles.
"Mama!"

Jessica gasps.
"You said mama!  Everyone, she said mama!" Jessica sits up on her knees.

Nova laughs and slowly walks towards her mother.

"AH!  She's walking!"

Nova slowly stomped towards her mother with a smile on her face, as though she was so amazed that she was actually walking.

"Daddy look at her!" Jessica says to Danny who was sitting on the couch behind her.

Nova throws herself forward onto her mother and Jessica kisses her over and over again.

"Good job, Princess!  I'm proud of you love bug!" Danny kisses her head and softly caresses her cheek.

Jessica held her with tears slowly falling down her face.

"Good job!  I told you she could walk!  Wait.. But momma, why are you crying?" Grayson asks.

"Because I'm so happy, baby." Jessica smiles.

"Novies, you said your first word, you walked AND you said mama today!" She giggles.

"Now how about you say dada?" Danny smiles.

Jessica chuckles as Nova points her little finger at him and says, "No!"

"Well yes ma'am!" Danny says as Jessica laughs even harder.
