July 2nd.

Danny and Jessica arrived at the hospital around 7:30 am. They were then quickly guided to a room.
While Jessica changed, Danny got his little corner of the room situated. Since Jessica was being induced they both knew it would more than likely be a long day.

After changing into her hospital gown Jessica made her way back into the room.

Danny smiled and just stared at her.

"What?" Jessica chuckled.

"I'm just taking it all in.  The big belly, the chubby face, the waddle.  I'm gonna miss you being pregnant."

"Yeah?" Jessica gave him a soft smile.

"Yeah.  Smile, let me take your picture."

"Oh Danny, not now!"

"Jessica, come on.  One more.  Please?"

"Fine." Jessica turned to her side and gave him a soft smile.

"You are beyond gorgeous!  Even though you look a little bugged with me." He chuckles.

"Oh Danny!"

"I'm serious."

Jessica giggles and messes with her hair. "Well thank you!"

"Heh!  You're very welcome, missy."

Jessica was nervous to get things started.  She's never had to be induced before and she was worried her labor would last extra long.  She was convinced her son wasn't ready to be born, and she knew he would take his time coming into the world even being pushed a little.

Her doctor started Jessica on pitocin and they waited for her contractions to start.  Two hours went by and Jessica had about two very very mild contractions.  She was still dilated zero and zero percent effaced.

Jessica hated all of this.  She wanted to be home trying to naturally bring him here instead of what she felt was forcing him into the world.

"Mrs. Huston, the doctor will be in shortly, he's going to break your water and we are going to up your pitocin.  Relax now because once this happens things will pick up very quickly.

"Okay.."

The nurse leaves the room and Danny smiles at Jessica. "Things are gonna start happening, babe!"

"Yeah.."

"Get excited, baby!"

"I am.."

Danny chuckles and walks over to kiss her head.
"I'm gonna run to the Starbucks downstairs, you need anything?" He laughs.

"I'm fine.  I'm just gonna rest until he comes in."

"Okay, I'll hurry back."

Half an hour later Danny was back and they were still waiting on the doctor.

"How do you feel?" Danny asks.

"They're getting more painful but it still doesn't feel like any things happening yet."

They were then interrupted by a knock on the door.

"Hello!  How are we feeling?"

"Okay.."

"Good!" Her doctor slaps his gloves on and Jessica spreads her legs.

He lifts up the sheets and tells Jessica to relax.

Jessica takes a deep breath and let's her legs flop to the sides.  It was hard to relax due to the discomfort of him shoving his hand and an amino-hook up her vagina, but Jessica took deep breaths and got through it.  She knew from experience that this was going to be the least painful thing throughout the entire birthing process.
Jessica felt intense pressure then a flood of water.

Danny started laughing and said, "Damn!  That looked like a water slide!"

Jessica rolls her eyes and her doctor chuckles.

"The nurse will be right in with a diaper, in case you want to walk around or get on a birthing ball."

"Okay, thank you."

"No problem.  You're doing great, Jessica." He smiled.

"Thank you.."

Almost immediately after breaking her water, Jessica's contractions came on one hundred times more intense.

3:00 pm.

Jessica sat on the side of the bed as Danny stood in front of her.  She leaned forward and moaned into his neck as a contraction rolled through her body.

The pain was becoming too intense for her and she was wanting to give up.

"Danny, I can't.  Just tell them to give me a c-section.  I can't do it anymore!"

"Baby, Yes you can!  You are so strong.  Just focus on Jonas.  He's your prize.  Just keep focusing on him."

With that Jessica breathed through the rest of her contraction.

"Thank you, baby." She whimpered.

"You're welcome." Danny smiles softly.

Jessica kisses his lips then moves a piece of her hair behind her ear.

*Knock, Knock*

"Come in." Jessica says.

"Hey!  We just wanted to see how you were doing." Zachary says as he and Alyssa walk into the room.

"Oh hi, guys.. well they upped my pitocin and broke my water a few hours ago, so now things are pretty intense."

"How much are you dilated?"

"I'm four centimeters."

"That's good!"

"Yeah.. how's the baby?"

"The same..
Have they checked on Jonas?  How is he?"

"His heart sounds good so.. that's good!" Jessica smiles softly. "If at any moment it changes, they'll have to rush me in to have an emergency c-section."

"Oh wow.  Well we'll leave you two- Three alone!" Alyssa says as her mother in law gets another contraction."

Jessica breathes deeply. "Okay.  Kiss my princess for me."

"We will.  Love you, mom."

"Oww.. I love you more, baby.."

7:30 pm.

It's been twelve hours since the two arrived at the hospital.  Danny called and told everyone that Jessica was now dilated 7 centimeters. They all came over to the hospital to welcome their baby brother into the world.
Danny and Jessica's parents also came and waited with the rest of the family in the waiting room.

"Grammy, when is my baby brother gonna get here?  It's been hours!" Nova says, clearly irritated. "I told mommy to hurry up!"

"Momma's working on it, Nova." Dorothy chuckles and pats her back.

"I can't wait to be a big sister, granny!  Look, it even says it on my shirt!  It says, Big.. Sister." She points to her shirt.

"I see that!  That's a beautiful shirt, baby."

"Thanks!  My mommy and daddy got it for me!  The boys have big brother shirts."

"You'll all have to take a picture, huh?"

"Yep!"

Dorothy smiles softly and looks up when she hears Danny's voice. "Dorothy!"

"Yes?  Is she okay?"

"It's time to push!  She wants you."

"Oh goodness!  Okay, I'm coming!  The baby's coming!" She shouts with excitement.

"Daddy!  Daddy!"

"Yes, princess?"

"Is my baby brother really coming out now?"

"He's coming out NOW, Lovebug!"

"Yay!  Tell mommy to PUUUUUSH!"

"I will, princess!" Danny laughs.

Danny and Dorothy quickly ran back to be with Jessica.

She was panting and nurses were getting her ready for delivery.  There were extra nurses near by ready to take the baby if needed.

"Oh gosh, I'm so scared."

"Don't be, baby girl.  You've I've got this!" Dorothy smiles.

"I just want him to be okay.  I just want to hear his cry." Jessica says with tears running down her cheeks.

Dorothy wipes them and gives her a kiss. "He's going to be just fine!"

"Okay, Jessica, we're going to do a few practice pushes before the doctor gets here."

"Okay." Jessica pulls her legs back with the help of Danny and her mother.

Jessica took a deep breath in and pushed down into her bottom with everything she had.

"Good job.. good!  That was a great push, Jessica.  Try once more, deep breath in and push, push, push!"

Jessica catches her breath and lays her head back.

"Very Good!  Okay, relax.  The doctor will be right in."

Jessica relaxes her legs and lays her head to the side facing Danny.

"Hi." She says in a low voice.

"Hey." Danny chuckles. "You're almost done, he's almost here, baby girl!" He kisses her forehead.

"I know!  You think your dream will come true and it'll be twins?"

"Hah!  Maybe." He smiles.

Just then she gets a very intense contraction.

"Eh.. Owwww... Shit!"

"Breathe baby, breathe."

"I have to push." Jessica whimpers.

"Just a little while, ma'am." The nurse pats her leg.

Just then the doctor walks in.  He quickly gets ready and goes to her center.

"Ready to have a baby?"

"Yeah." Jessica answers in pain.

"Okay, legs back, deep breath in and push!  You know the drill, this ain't your first rodeo." He chuckles.

Jessica does what he says and pushes as hard as she can.

Twenty minutes later.

"I can't do it anymore!  Please, just get him out of me!"

"Baby girl, he's right there!  The doctor let me feel him.  Just keep pushing and he'll be here, then it'll all be over and you'll never have to do it again!" Danny says.

I can't." Jessica cries softly.

"Baby girl, Yes you can!  Now come on, one big push!"

"Okay.. just one.. But That's It!"

"Thata girl!" Danny smiles.

Jessica pushes and feels the ring of fire.  It was her baby making his way through the birth canal.

"Ahhh!" Jessica screams.

"Breathe through it and push, Jessie!"

"OWWWWW!"

"Push!" Danny shouts.

Jessica takes a deep breath and pushes again immediately.

"Good!  Good!  Good!  He's coming, baby!  He's coming!"

Jessica curled her body in and screamed in pain as her baby boy was pushed into the world.

The doctor immediately laid him on her chest and Jessica sobbed.

"Oh my baby boy!  My baby boy!" Jessica kept repeating as she rubbed his back.

"Jessie, he's beautiful!" Dorothy smiles and snapped pictures of the baby on her chest.

Jessica looked down and panicked. "He's not crying!  Why isn't he crying?!"

A nurse moved the blanket over, then looked at the doctor. "We have to take him." She says as a look of stillness covered her face.

"My baby!  Is he gonna be okay?" Jessica cried.

No one answered her question.  A nurse snatched the baby from her chest and ran him to the NICU.

"Jonas!  Wait!  Where is she taking him?  Why wasn't he crying?!"

"Ma'am, we're going to do everything we can."

"I want my baby!" Jessica screams.

Meanwhile in the waiting room.

"Look grampy!  I drew this for my baby brother!" Nova shows her grandfather her masterpiece.

"Oh Nova, That is just about the most beautiful picture I have ever seen!"

"Thanks!  Sam Sam, you like my picture?" She asks shoving it in his face.

"Mines is better!"

"Nuh UH!  You're crazy, boy!"

Tiffany laughed at her comment then looked up when she saw a nurse run out of the delivery room.

"That's Mommy's! *Gasp* That's my brother!" She jumps. "That's my baby brother!  Lady, come this way!  We're over here!"

Everyone else in the room knew exactly why that nurse was rushing.  They knew Jonas was sick, and wasn't as strong as the doctor thought he'd be.  Everyone began to panic.

"I was hoping he'd be born and all of what they thought was wrong, Wasn't." Alyssa says hanging her head as she begins to cry.

"I know.. he's strong.. he'll be okay.." Zachary says trying his best to remain calm.

"I wonder how mom is.  I hope she's okay." James says.

Back in the delivery room nurses, Danny and Dorothy are all trying to calm Jessica down.

"Sweetie, they're helping your baby, but we need you to calm down and deliver the placenta, okay?"

"I can't!  I need him!"

"Jessica!" Dorothy yanks her arm. "I understand you're scared, but if you don't push, you're going to get sick!  Now Push!" She shouts.

Jessica sobs then pulls her legs back and pushes.
As the nurse massages her stomach and Jessica continued to push while sobbing, she was beginning to run out of energy.

"I can't do it anymore, please just leave me alone!" She whines.

"Jessica, PUSH!" Danny screamed at her. "Don't do this!  You need to be ready to feed him when they bring him in, NOW PUSH!"

Jessica closed her eyes and tried pushing away all of the horrible thoughts going through her mind.  She then pushed as hard as she could, and finally delivered the after birth.

Danny sighs with relief and kisses her forehead.
Jessica wraps her arms around him and sobs uncontrollably.

"Danny, our baby!  Our baby!"

"He's gonna be okay, Jessie.  I promise you, he'll be okay."

Twenty minutes and still no news.
Dorothy left them to have their time alone.
Danny held Jessica's hand in his and watched as her eyes started to fall.

"You sleepy?"

"I.."

"Jess?"

Jessica's eyes shut and Danny panics.

"Help!  Someone help my wife, please!  Jessica, wake up!  WAKE UP!" He shakes her but doesn't get a response.

"Sir, you're going to have to step out for a moment."

"No!  Let me stay with her!  PLEASE!"

"Sir, you have to leave!"

Danny looked at Jessica's pale body on the bed and sobbed. "I love you Jessica!  I always will, baby girl!" He shouted.

Danny felt completely numb.  Jessica was right.  His dream Was coming true.  But not the part about the twins.  The part that turned into his beautiful dream into a nightmare.
This nightmare he had was quickly becoming a reality.

As Danny walked out to the hall Jonas' heart specialist came over to speak to him.

"Dr. Huston."

"Yes?" Danny looks up with tears pouring down his face.

"I'm afraid Jonas's condition is more serious than we thought.  We're going to have to take him into surgery immediately."

"What?  But my wife, she, she-"

"We must do this now.  If not.. I'm sorry to be so blunt, but he won't make it."

"Oh gosh.. No.. NOOO!" Danny grabbed his hair then banged his fist into the wall.
