James and Caroline's POV.

"You ready, baby?"

"Yeah. I can't believe we're gonna find out what the little babe is today!"

"I know, what do you think it is?"

"I think it's a boy."

"I want a girl." James smiles.

"But I'll be happy with either one. Ass long as he or she is healthy!"

"Yeah.."

"Let's go, beautiful."

Caroline laid back waiting for the doctor.  She rested her hand on her bump and relaxed.
Suddenly she hears James' phone camera.

"What are you doing?" She laughs.

"Sorry, I thought my volume was down."

"Why are you taking my picture?"

"Because you look so beautiful!" James stands up and kisses her lips, then and places a soft kiss on her belly.

"Awe, you're so sweet!"

The nurse walks in for the ultrasound.

"Are you finding out the sex today?"

"Yes!" They both answer with excitement.

"Alright, well let's see if we can see what this baby is."

The woman scans at the bottom of her stomach.
"Okay so think of the baby sitting down and you're looking up between it's legs."

"Then I know what it is!" Caroline giggles as tears fill her eyes.

"It's a boy!" James smiles.

"You're right, daddy!"

"Oh my gosh!  Caro, we're gonna have a baby boy!"

Caroline smiles.  James wipes her cheeks and kisses her lips.

"I love you so so much!  Thank you for this little boy, babe!"

"Heh!  Thank YOU!"

"I'm so happy!
... You know today's my dad's anniversary too.."

"Oh honey, that's right!"

"It's been seven years.." James looks down.

"Wow.."

James looks up and smiles to her with tears in his eyes. "I love you."

"I love you more."

"Not possible." He says giving her a hug.

Jessica's POV.

"Nova, what's wrong, baby?  Why are you so sad?"

Nova looks at her mother with a pout.

"Sweetie, you're okay!  Mama's here."

Nova lays her head on Jessica.

"My baby girl.. Life is just so hard, huh?"

Grayson walks in and gives Jessica a kiss.

"Bye, mommy!  We're leaving!"

"Okay, you boys be carful!  Have fun at school, Gray."

"Okay!  Bye, Novies!" Grayson pats her bottom.

"Is she okay?"

"Yeah, she's just a bit crabby this morning."

"Oh.  Well I'll see you later, sissy!"

Jessica smiles and watches Grayson run off to grab his backpack.

"Bye, baby." Danny kisses her.

"Bye, honey."

"Bye, bug!" Danny tries kissing Nova but she fusses and buries her face in Jessica.

"What's up with you, Nova?"

"She's having a moment. Grandma should have a lot of fun with her today!"

"Heh, poor Dorothy. Nova, be a good girl!"

She fusses and Jessica chuckles.

"You're so crabby, Nova!"

James and Caroline walk up to the house just as Jessica and Nova were leaving.

"Hey! What are you two doing here?!"

"We just came from the doctors office."

"Is everything okay?"

Nova starts crying. "Oh you quiet!" Jessica bounces her.

Caroline laughs and says, "It's a boy!"

"A BOY? A BOY?! A BOYYYY!!! OH MY GOSH!"

Jessica scares Nova making her cry.

"Oh goodness, I'm so sorry!" Jessica baby talks.

"Oh you two I'm so happy for you guys!" Jessica hugs them both.

"Thanks, mom!"

"Oh and on daddy's anniversary!" Jessica immediately tears up.

"That's what James said."

Jessica smiled softly and hugged James once again.

"That's so amazing, James-y!"

"I know... So uh.. Are Sam and Tiff here?" James didn't want to get emotional all over again.

"Yeah, go ahead and go in! I need to take baby girl to your grandparents."

"Is she okay?"

"Yeah, she's just having a moment." Jessica chuckles and bounces the baby.

"Oh my goodness! I can't wait to drop your little booty off!"

James and Caroline laugh.

"I'll see you two later. Congratulations!"

"Thank you!"

"Mom, call me if she's a problem. She's Very fussy today so I'm sorry."

"It's okay! We're not gonna be a fussy pants for grandma, are you, pretty girl?"

Nova fuses and kicks her legs as she turns her face away from her grandmother.

"Oh goodness! No ma'am! No ma'am!" She says in a baby voice just making Nova scream even louder.

"Well today is going to be so fun!" She laughs.

"Again, I'm sorry! Bye Novies, mommy loves you!" Jessica kisses her cheek and takes off.

A week later.

Jessica treated her daughter in laws for a girls day out while the guys stayed home with the kids.

"Jessie, thank you for treating us.  It's so nice to get out of the house and not have the baby!  I love him more than anything but good God is he a piece of work!" Tiffany says as she relaxes back in the big nail salon chair.

"Oh I understand!  I needed some time away from Daniel and my little handfuls too, and Caroline needs to be pampered before her little one gets here!" Jessica smiles and reaches over to rub her belly.

"Twenty weeks already next week!  You're halfway there!"

"I know!  I can't wait to meet him!"

"Awe!  You're gonna make such a great momma!" Tiffany smiles.

"Yes she is! 
.. I'm so proud of you girls.. Up until I had Nova, I was surrounded by boys.  I think of you both as my daughters.  I'm incredibly lucky to have such amazing young women like you for my boys."

"Awe!  You're gonna make me cry!" Caroline fans herself.

"We love you, Jessie! I'm so happy I have such a cool mother in law!" Tiffany reaches over and holds her hand.

"I'm cool?!"

"Yes!" Tiffany laughs.

"My mother.. well you know how she is..
through my pregnancy you were there for me and I love you like a mother.  I could not have done it without you!"

"You're so sweet!"

After getting their nails done Jessica took the girls out to lunch.

"Oh God this is so good!  Little guy is happy!"

"Is he wiggling all around?"

"Yes!" Caroline leans back and places her hands on her bump.

Jessica and Tiffany reach over to feel the baby moving all around.

"Oh my goodness!  He's an active little guy!" Jessica smiles.

"Yes he is!"

Caroline excuses herself and goes to the restroom.

"Okay so her baby shower is all set for next week!"

"Awesome!  Thank you so much for taking care of most of it, honey!"

"No problem!  She's gonna be so surprised!"

A week later.

"Look at my beautiful wife.  You look so amazing, baby girl." James looked at Caroline with so much love in his eyes.

"I don't look too fat?"

"Of course you don't!" James walks closer to her and places his hands on her waist.

"You feel okay today?  I know you were kinda achy last night."

"Yeah I feel okay.."

"You're not very convincing, Mrs. Shepard."

"Well I don't feel great, but I'm okay."

James goes moves down to kiss her belly.
"You be good to your mama, little guy."

Caroline smiles and holds his cheeks as James smiles up to her.

"Let's go eat!"

They walked into the restaurant and everyone yelled surprise.  The whole place was decorated in blue baby decorations and there was a huge pile of presents.

"Oh my gosh!  You guys!" Caroline covers her mouth and tears up.

"Thank you guys!  This is so sweet.."

"Honey, don't cry!" Her mother walks over and hugs her.

"I'm just so happy!  Look at everyone here.  Hi!" She giggles and waves with tears still falling down her cheeks.

"Oh and Michael and Zach!  You guys are here!"

"Of course we're here!  He's our little nephew!" Michael touches her stomach.

"It's okay if I do that, right?!" Michael quickly yanks his hand away.

"Of course!" She laughs and wipes her eyes.

"You look beautiful." Zachary hugs her and kisses her cheek.

"Thank you so much!"

"Wow look at all this stuff!  This boy is so spoiled!"

"I can't wait to get all this stuff up in his room!" James says then turns to his mother, "It's painted a light blue color and we have his crib in there. Now we should be set!  We just need him!" James places his hand on the front of her belly.

Caroline smiles softly and places her hand on his.

"My God you two are cute!" Jessica's voice goes high.

"We are!" James chuckles.

"Hey, did you wanna tell everyone?" Caroline smirks.

"Tell us what? Tell us what?!" Jessica gets excited.

Caroline laughs. "We've decided to name him Lucas."

"Oh Lucas is a beautiful name!!"

"Thank you!"

"Yep! Little Lucas James Shepard." James rubs Caroline's stomach and gently kisses it.

"Awww MY BABY!!"

"Jessica!" Danny chuckles.

"Well he is!
.. and look at him.. married and having a baby of his own! God I feel so old!"

"You're not old, mommy!" Grayson says sticking cake and ice cream in his mouth.

"Thanks baby!" Jessica chuckles.

After the shower James' brothers helped take everything to the house and into the nursery.

"Man this kid is set! All of our cars were packed! Baby Lucas is definitely loved already!" Michael says.

Caroline sat on the couch with her hands on her belly just staring into space.

"You okay, Caro?" He asks when he sees how frozen she is.

"Hm? Oh yeah, I'm fine.. I'm just tired." She says with a small smile.

"Okay. Well we're out. We'll talk to you guys soon."

"Thank you all so much!"

When the guys leave Tiffany goes upstairs to James. He was already setting things up for his son in his nursery.

"James.."

"Honey look! I'm gonna set this up here and-"

"James, something's wrong." Caroline's voice was shaky and James' heart dropped as he looked to her holding her round belly in her hands.
