Waterfall
You are water that flows down
To its inevitable death and clings
To the chalice of my heart.
I yearn to see your advance,
As I stand upon your shore.
You once worshiped at the shrine of my ankles
And kissed my knees, as I moved into your wet.
You caressed my core and tasted my essence,
And I moved to your touch.
I flowed with you, absorbing your warmth.
I ached for the taste of you and opened my mouth
To drink you into me.
I breathed the mist of you, as you dissipated into the air.
I heard the resonance of your sound, as you crashed upon my heart.
As you dove, I sank into your depths, soaking you into my own.
I enjoyed the essence of you
But watched helplessly as you flowed away,
Fading to another shore.
Your evolution is separate from my own;
My river to your fall, and my shore is empty.
You are lost to me,
And I may hold you no more.
But I live ever in the memory of your fall
And ache to taste the sweetness of your water.
I live in the hope of your movement,
As you flow closer, again, to my shore.
