➳ Chapter 5 - Looking For The Perfect Dress
I sat on in front of the TV ogling my eyes to the screen. I laughed at the joke Joey made. Yes, I was watching 'Friends,' it's my all times favourite tv show. I love Joey and Chandler especially, because who doesn't? My foot were sore from early morning training. Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday morning I have training with my teacher, Yuri. She is a wonderful lady, but a harsh trainer. She strictly keeps her work away from relationships. Yuri and I are good friends, we casually hang out once or twice. She found her mate eight years ago and now has two children. They both go in the school I go to, but in the Junior section, of course. All the children adore me, I love children.
Anyways, after today's hectic training, I decided I could have a relaxing time watching TV. My mom had to go with my dad for some pack business. Madeline, who doesn't have trainings on Tuesday's, is still sleeping. I swear this girl can sleep forever if she wishes to. It was 12:00pm when the door bell rang. Madeline walked in with the brightest smiles ever. Behind her came Jason, okay... What the hell is going on?
"Hey Madeline and... Jason?" I said questioning him. He smiled.
"Hey Katherine."
Madeline grabbed my hand and pulled me over to the kitchen while Jason just laughed.
"What's going on Mads?" I said while her crush stood in the room next door. Yes, Madeline has a crush on Jason for as long as I have known her. Jason is the school jock and member of the Full Moon Pack aka my pack. His parents are my dad's friends from college. He is a player and jerk, I have been trying to convince Madeline. But whenever I do so, she just hums yes but never really listens to me.
"I was on the way to your house, when I met Jason on the way. I asked if he needed a lift and he nodded. We talked for a while and I realised how wrong I was." I sighed happily, finally glad that she realised what a player he is. "He is not only attractive, but cute and caring. He is going to this charity event this Saturday is inviting me over. Aww, how cute no?"
I face palmed and sighed, "Why? Why? Why? Don't you see his using you... You're the future Beta! He just wants your power and rule over others. Then, he'll dump you. And we have the ball on Saturday anyways."
Madeline stared at me and for a second I saw a pinch of anger and sadness, before she stormed into the living room.
"Ugh, Madeline..." I sighed and walked to living room.
I noticed that Jason was long gone and Madeline was on the sofa crying. I felt really bad now, like down to earth bad. I never meant for her to cry, but I needed to tell her this otherwise later on she would be hurt worse. I sat on my knees in front of her.
"Hey Mads, I am so sorry." I whispered in regret. 'Maybe I was too harsh, ugh, Katherine.. you stupid friend!' I thought to myself.
"No, no, you're right" she said lifting her face up with her mascara running down her cheeks leaving stains her beautiful hazel eyes looking all sad and depressed.
"I am?" I said raising an eyebrow.
"Yea, Ashley told me that he just used her and dumped her the next day. Despite that I can't help but fall for him. I am such a bad person, aren't I Kathy? Tell me." She said as she sniffed and her tears stopped rolling down. I sighed and hugged her.
"No, your just a girl that is too kind and friendly to everyone and allows jerk boys like him to take advantage over you." I softly spoke. She smiled and stared at me. I sat on the sofa and looked to the side to find my mom, Aunty Suzy and Aunty Wendy. Wait, Aunty Wendy? I hopped over and hugged her as Madeline followed me.
"Hey Aunty Wendy, how's your mom?" I inquired.
"She's better.. How are you too? Seemed like a break-up just happened or did you two fight?" She said in an Australian accent. Uncle Quincy went to Australia for pack business for a truce with a pack which happened to be Aunty Wendy's pack. There, they both got married and she came back being the female Gamma of the pack. Aunty Wendy is really good in relationships, boys and drama.
"Nah, just getting rid of an old crush." Madeline said as she cleaned her mascara stains.
"Wait, weren't you going to return tomorrow from Aussie?" I asked her curiously. She nodded.
"Yes, but you girls know your aunt Wendy. Where there is a ball coming up, I leave everything to look pitch perfect." We all laughed at that. Yes, that's very true indeed.
"So, shall we head to buy our dresses?" My mom asked. Madeline and I nodded and exited the house.
We arrived at the Fantastica in merely ten minutes. The Fantastica sells the best wedding and formal collection of dresses. My mom's wedding dress was bought from here. The owner is my mom's childhood friend, Lara. Lara is an amazing fashion designer and has even gone Paris to do some fashion shows. She is a stunning lady. We walked in as Lara greeted us with open arms. We walked around the store and each of us picked some dresses to try.
Aunty Suzy was the first one to find a perfect dress for her. In her second trial, she wore a sky blue sleeve-less silky dress. It was simple with beautiful white embroidery done after the waistline. It looked as if it was a skirt and top, but in reality it was a dress. It was quite simple, but looked beautiful on her tanned skin.
My mom tried on a purple dress, it didn't suit her but Aunty Wendy seemed to like it. She tried on the dark purple dress with a creamy belt on the waist. She looked absolutely splendid, I awed her. This was the one for her. She didn't hesitate a second to buy it.
Madeline was looking around the corner of the shop, when she found herself 'the dress.' I have to admit her dress is very unique and suits her to the best. It was a puffy red dress absolutely perfect for the ball, along with the dress came red gloves. She looked very mature and elegant when she wore the dress.
Now, the only ones left where me and mom. I had a feeling that I was never going to find my dress. I wore tons of dresses. I was looking around the rack when I found an emerald green dress that had a wavy cut at the bottom. I knew this was going to be perfect for my mom. My mom loved it and wore it out in a second. Everyone gasped when she wore it, even Lara excused her customer for a second to check out my mom's dress. She really is a queen. My dad's going to be dazzled when he sees her in this. The dress complimented her green eyes beautifully.
They all looked at me waiting.
"No, I haven't found a dress." They all gave a sad smile, but I ignored them. They paid for their dresses and we started to walk out. We sat in the car. Roger's was about to drive, when out of the corner of my eye something sparked.
"Stop the car, Rogers." He followed my command and I jumped out of the car and ran in the store. The rest followed me in confusion.
"What's wrong Kathy?" Mads said confusingly.
I ignored her and chased my spark as if it was running away. I picked it up from the rack and everyone gasped.
"Kathy... that's.. that's..." Mads trailed off in surprise. My mom had tears in her eyes while Aunty Suzy and Wendy couldn't stop gasping.
I wore this dress without waiting for them to say something, I walked out of the trail room as each of them wowed.
I looked at the mirror. A black net and velvet full-sleeve dress with cut at the bottom where half of my right leg can be seen. When I turned around, it was a deep backless cut with hanging black ribbons covering the back. This was the perfect that I was looking for all along. I can already imagine how my make-up would be and my hair would be styled.
"It beautiful, my angel." My mother said wrapping her arms around me. I smiled at her as I changed my clothes back, while the others bought my dress. I always loved black, it gave the spike of danger and threat... Also, it was a sexy colour in my opinion. We went back home in content, glad that each one of found the perfect dress.
So, perfect dress hunting was a pure success!
Watch it, all the boys in the ball, because Katherine Williams is going to dazzle you all.
