Chapter 9
While Percy was nervously standing in front of her, a million thoughts ran inside Annabeth's head. Is he going to break up with me? Oh gods, I'm so screwed.
Annabeth nodded at him. "I need to tell you something too."
Percy sat beside her and said, "So, you know that we have been dating for two years. Well, not two years exactly more like two summers. And honestly they have been the best two summers of my life and-"
Annabeth interrupted him. "Are you breaking up with me cause then just get it over with."
Annabeth took a deep breath in. She shouldn't cry. Princesses do not cry. They put up a brave face and act as if they are fine.
"Goodness! No! Didn't you here me? They were the best two summers in my life. And honestly why would I break up with you?" he asked slipping his arm around her waist. "You are perfect. My princess."
Annabeth smiled weakly thinking about how true it was.
"Stop with all the cheesy stuff. Then what were you going to tell me?"
"Well actually. Do you know Atlanta? You must be knowing. It has some amazing buildings, if I say so myself and you are into buildings and stuff. Anyway, back to the topic, I'm the Prince of Atlanta. Now, I know it's hard to believe, but it is the truth. I'm the son of King Poseidon. And that's why I've never taken you to meet my parents. My mom will love you. She is amazing. Even though she is a Queen, she bakes amazing blue cookies-"
"Percy, you are rambling."
"Oh shit. Yeah that's what I wanted to say. Please don't kill me for not telling this to you before. I wanted you to like me for me and not my wealth or status."
Annabeth gaped at him. Could it be possible? Now that she thought about it, Percy did look like Poseidon. Poseidon had come over to her palace many years ago and her memory was vague, so she wasn't very sure.
"But isn't the Prince's name Perseus?"
"My full name is actually Perseus, but I never liked it. Hence the name Percy."
Annabeth started giggling. She was in cloud nine. She couldn't believe her luck. They might just have a chance! Her parents would be more open to her marrying Percy now that he was a prince. Not that she had thought of marriage already. Nope. Definitely didn't.
It was now Percy's turn to gape. Of all reactions he had thought of, giggling was NOT one of them. Annabeth climbed on his lap, so that she was straddling him. Grinning from ear to ear she said, "Well, my dear Prince, I needed to tell you something too. But first let me reintroduce myself. I'm Princess Annabeth of Athens. It is a pleasure to meet you."
"Hahaha. You are hilarious. But like actually I am a prince."
"Yeah. I believe you. And I am a princess. I swear on blue cookies I am not making fun of you."
"Wait. You are serious???? No way! That's unbelievable!" Percy exclaimed with excitement.
Annabeth sighed and buried her face in the crook of his neck.
"I love you, Seaweed Brain."
Both Percy and Annabeth froze. She didn't mean to say it. But the moment felt so right...
"What did you say?" Percy asked.
"I love you," Annabeth mumbled and buried her face deeper.
Percy grinned and made her face him. "And I love you too," he said as he kissed her on her forehead.
And for the rest of the day, Percy and Annabeth remained there kissing and sharing memories about having a royal life.
