Chapter 19

Poseidon clenched his jaw. This was bad news. Bad, bad news. Luke of all the people had to become the traitor. Hermes would not take it nicely. On top of that Artemis' spies had found out that Kronos was planning to attack the following week. However, the spies couldn't figure out when exactly they would attack. Poseidon called one of the messengers and asked him to deliver a letter, which stated that it was imperative for Hermes to come Atlanta immediately as the matter was about his son.

About an hour later a message came for Poseidon. At first, he thought it might be from Hermes but decided that it couldn't as Hermonassa was forty-five minutes away and there was no way that the message could have come to him that fast.

Opening the letter, he read-

Poseidon,

Three days from now, we will meet at Rome. Bring your army. We will finish the fight for once and for all. All the other rulers will be there, and we will see if your armies are better than mine. If you win, I will no longer, cause any trouble. But if I win, I'll have all of your heads and take over the 12 cities. Unless, of course, you forfeit now. I'll be waiting till tomorrow and if I don't get a message of your forfeit, I'll assume that you've decided to decided not to surrender.

Soon to be ruler of Olympus,

Kronos.

An hour later, a letter arrived from Zeus to meet at Rome along with the entire army. Poseidon immediately started bustling about, making preparations. Rome was one of the richest cities in the world so they wouldn't have any problem housing thousands of soldiers. It took Poseidon the rest of the day to finish all the preparations and they set off the next day. It was a one-day trip and by the time Poseidon, Sally, Percy, Annabeth and Atlanta's army reached all the others were already there.

Hermes had canceled the trip to Atlanta as they would be meeting at Rome anyway. Everyone was in high spirits, ready to bash-up people. But that was before anyone knew about Luke and his betrayal. Poseidon tried to procrastinate telling the news as much as possible, he didn't want to dampen the mood. Turned out that he didn't have to.

They were in a meeting when a messenger barged in followed by some guards. The royal guards immediately grabbed the guy and tried to drag him outside. But what caught Athena's interest was the letter that he clutched with his hands. It felt like a deja vu. She told the guards to leave the messenger and took the letter from the messenger. Seeing that the letter was addresses to Hermes she handed it him.

Hermes opened the letter and read it. The Olympians watched with shock as tears flowed out of his eyes, while reading the letter. The most cheerful and joyful person among the Olympians was crying. What could have been written in the letter?
