Chapter 10
*The next summer*
"Hey Annabeth, want to spar? Winner gets to decide where we are going to go on a date next," Percy called out.
"You are on, Jackson. Looks like we'll be spending a lot of time in the library tomorrow," Annabeth said smirking as she got up from her bed.
"Nope. We'll be spending tomorrow in the swimming pool. With you wearing a bikini."
"In your dreams, Jackson."
"Oh yeah, definitely in my dreams as well," Percy said and winked at her, causing her to blush. They had been dating for three years, probably longer than all the other couples in camp, yet a small comment from Percy and Annabeth's face was as bright as a firetruck.
Despite all the bickering, Annabeth knew that Percy would win. Over the years Percy had become the best swordsman, the camp had seen in years. The only person he had ever lost to was Annabeth. And that was just because Annabeth had faked getting hurt.
The two of them went to the arena and took positions. The match started like any other, with the two of blocking each other's blows and attacks. Their movements were so synchronized that to an outsider, it would have looked like a practiced dance. Soon, the movements started becoming quicker as both of them tried to finish the match.
The ending however was quite surprising. Annabeth almost dropped her sword out of surprise when it touched Percy's neck instead of clashing with his sword.
"Well, well what do we have here?" Annabeth drawled, basking in glory. She couldn't believe that she had won the match. That too without cheating!
"You just got lucky today, wise girl."
Annabeth stuck her tongue out at him and started making a list of places they could go for their date.
"Aren't we going to go the library?" a surprised Percy asked.
"We've already gone there for a date. I want to go somewhere else."
"Maybe we could go the lake," Percy suggested.
"The lake?"
"The place where we had our first kiss and where we officially started dating."
Annabeth grinned as she interlaced their fingers. "Yeah! Let's do that. I'll get the picnic ready with-"
"How about I handle all that, huh? I'll plan it all. You just have to enjoy." Percy asked.
"And I promise I won't forget anything," Percy added a moment later.
"Okay. But I swear to all the gods, seaweed brain, if you forget..."
"Calm down," Percy said chuckling. "I'll get going. I have a lot of things to plan."
Annabeth kissed his cheek and turned to leave.
"Oh, and Annabeth?"
"Yeah?" Annabeth turned again to face him.
"Wear something blue."
And with that Percy left, whistling a tune.
