24- You Are Nothing To Me
Unknown no.- I assume you know all about me by now.
Excuse me! who is this?
Unknown no.- ooo the bestfriend lies as well.
She is a person of many qualities I see.
I scanned the whole cafeteria to see if someone was messing with me.
Unknown no.- So Rose did your best friend provide you with the information or should I?
I don't have time for fuckers like you.
I wrote that and kept the phone back in my pocket. Ryder looked at me and raised an eyebrow to ask me if something was wrong. I shook my head.
Violet leaned towards me and Diya, "dude Zoe is absent today." she said in a really amused voice.
"What?" I was taken aback by the sudden information, it took me a minute to remember that I had slapped the bitch. Now I felt bad. Poor Zoe I don't think she deserved that slap. The poor girl had her position snatched and one of her friends left her.
Suddenly Andrew's head whipped around, "what the fuck is taking Ash so long?"
A bell rang and indicating that lunch was over. Everyone who had classes in this period immediately got up and no doubt went towards lockers to get their shits.
When no one at our table immediately got up. I got confused.
"Andrew, don't you have a class?" I asked him. He shook his head.
He lowered his mouth to ear level and whispered moving his fingers as if on a keyboard, "these babies play the piano. Don't fucking dare to tell that to anyone." I laughed out loud at that. Then I looked at Mason, Sofia's cousin.
"Um Mason are you in any sports as well?" he shook his head.
"No, I am in the computer club, Sof dragged me here today." I had noticed he didn't talk much.
He got up and dumped his trey and started walking out. I immediately followed him. Dumped my trey as well and caught up with him.
"Sofia told me what happened to your parents. I am sorry." I said in a sympathetic voice.
He stiffened for a second before relaxing back. He was tall as well and good looking I suppose but the brooding look he kept on usually, must have kept people away from him. He wore simple black glasses and his clothes looked like he had slept in them. He was handsome but he hid it.
I kept walking with him in silence.
"I have heard a lot about you, you know," he said abruptly.
"Hope not insults." he laughed at my tone.
"No actually I have been in contact with not many people but sof. She is the only one I talked to. She tried to convince me to talk to you, you know," he said.
"Convincing didn't work I presume." I laughed.
He hung his head guiltily. And smiled.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"Uh usually I spend lunch behind the elementary wing, no one goes there usually, it's beautiful there, wanna come?"
"Why the hell not," after careful thought I shrugged.
"Uh, would you mind if we find your sister first. I need to ask her something." I said my thoughts going back to the unknown messenger.
"Sure."
***
"Where the hell is she?" I complained to Mason. It had been almost half an hour now searching for Sofia.
She was nowhere to be found.
Mason had tried to call her phone but she hadn't picked any of those seventeen calls.
"Listen, Rose, if you find my sister kill her for me. I have to go and give in a project," he said equally irritated as me.
'Maybe you can go behind the school alone.'
You know Dunkers it's not that bad of an idea.
With that, I started towards the football field to cross to the elementary school building and go behind it. I wanna see this place and since I can't find Sof I will as well sort out all this shit later.
I was right across the football field and around the building. I was about to step out in the light of the sun when I hid in the shadows provided by the side of the building.
I heard the voices of Sofia and Ash. Two voices that I can recognize in any crowd. They seemed to be arguing over something. I strained to hear the conversation.
"... This is not the first time it had happened. Who knows this person can come after her next." Sof said.
"She is absolutely safe in this city, I can guarantee it. Even you are safe here." Ash said.
"I don't know how you can say that Ash and let's face it I just met you so I can't exactly trust you. But you seem to care about her, so even if you think you can keep us safe, which you can't, what about others we both care about." She countered.
I stiffened in my position, my back pressed to the cool concrete.
"Then go ahead and tell her all about this, What do you think her reaction will be. At least first try to find out more about this." Ash said back.
"You don't know who her father is Ash, you don't know what you are throwing yourself into," Sof said.
Mention of my father snapped me out of my stiffness.
"So what that unknown text said was true, you are hiding something from me," I said stepping out of shadows.
Ash was standing with the support of a pillar, Sofia was standing a few feet away.
"Rose..." she started to say but I cut her off.
"Look at this," I said pushing my phone under her nose.
Ash was still standing where he hadn't said a word and was just looking at the sun shining on the lake downhill with a sad expression on his face. I wanted to comfort him but I was way more angry to even look at both of them right now.
"See this is what I was talking about," Sofia shouted at Ash.
"That's why I wanted to tell her the moment I saw her." she threw my phone at Ash who easily extended his hand and caught it before it could go to his early death.
He stared at the phone for a second before releasing a sigh and pocketing my phone.
"Um excuse me that's my phone," I said going near him.
"No I am going to try to have this number traced," he said simply and got up from the floor.
I looked at Sofia and realized what the situation was. And instantly the side of me which I had kept hidden for years flared up.
"Ash, give me back my phone right now," I said back in an Intimidating voice.
Then I turned to Sofia and said one thing that I knew would make him back off.
"Sofia how the hell COULD YOU TELL A COMPLETE STRANGER THAT I DON'T TRUST ABOUT A PROBLEM THAT ONLY CONCERNS ME," I yelled at her and she flinched and from the corner of my eyes I saw Ash's eyes widen and his fists closing and jaw set.
"Give me back my phone right now, you are nothing to me, Ash White. NOTHING. Leave me alone, you are not going to do any such stupid things as tracing a phone which you might not even know where it would lead."
He looked at me dumbfounded. I held out my palm and looked him in the eye, "I want nothing to do with you, Ash."
He took the phone out of his pocket and handed it to me. Instantly I took it and threw it on the ground and stomped it till it was broken completely. I took the sim and broke it in half.
Then I took Sofia's phone from her hand and looked at the texts. And sure enough, there were texts from unknown numbers. I sent them all to my email and destroyed Sofia's phone as well.
They were both too busy gapping like a fish to know what to say. After that, I took hold of Sofia's hand and dragged her back to the school-leaving Ash looking at our retreating figures. I did not even turn to look back.
A single text had caught my eye out of all those texts.
It said HE IS ALIVE.
And I knew what the shit was about.
I literally have nothing to say.
Oh and just an update on life I had a little accident yesterday, I fell off my scooty while driving to my best friend's house and pulled the muscles of my neck so I can't move it around, my ankle is sprained, my left knee is scraped and my back is badly bruised and everything hurts so nothing too serious, but I broke my favorite sandals and now I wanna cry and my scooty has a dent too :(
