Alpha Gabriel's Territory, Nivadia
-
I washed my feet of dirt and blood. The silent cry of pain whimpering from their souls carrying nothing but a whisper of my attention. The sponge scrubbed at the grime as if the action would clean my spirt. I had heard a quiet cry in the winds, a faint calling for safety. The woman's voice was a distant wave of emotion, but I heard it. I can still hear the echo of pain in her voice, the ache in the simple words she called.
"Let me die. Let me die. Please, let me die."
My body moved as if the words she begged was an invisible force pulling at my heart. It carried me to the depths of the forest. Sharp objects forced their way into my skin, wanting to taint my blood. Her desperate cries kept me from turning back. The sounds of her sorrow turned my bones cold and rigid, the helplessness in her whimpers joined muscles and joints into strides. I did not think of the thorns piercing through my simple cream nightgown, the markings they left on my soft skin. For no pain could amount to the greater she felt. She was a siren in the night, calling for me from the south. I felt her pain the closer I walked through the forest, away from the Palace, away from safety. Safety the woman cried out for. I could feel the hollow emptiness in her gut, the burning through her chest, the ringing in her ears, the blood leaving her body. If I tried hard enough, I felt the salty droplets trailing down the skin of her face. I was in a dream, no, I was in her nightmare.
I walked through the silence of the night, the only sound was her breathless jerks of pain. Her voice was so far yet had the power to overthrow my senses. I walked and walked, my body no longer feeling. I accepted the pull towards the woman's voice until a barricade of wolves blocked my path. Their large dark eyes looked at me with worry and relief. I stared at them with empty eyes.
"Let me through," I whispered a silent command.
One of them shifted. Cracking, and popping and tearing until his human body glowed in the rays of light from the moon, but he is not human, not completely. His muscled form showing me exactly what he was, a weapon.
"Luna, we have been looking for you for hours! What are you doing out here?" the man asked with worry coating his tongue.
I looked past him into the distance, into the south.
"Do hear that?" I asked, wondering why they were so worried about me when a woman was begging with such conviction.
"Hear what, Luna?" the man asked.
"The woman's screams," I answered.
The man looked over to the wolves, sharing a look of concern. He raised his arms in an action that told my disorientated mind that he meant no harm.
"Your Ladies are coming here now, Luna. We must take you back to the Palace," he told me in a voice crafted to soothe.
He stepped forward only a few steps. I could tell he was afraid that I would be scared away like a frightened animal. I wasn't the one they should have been worrying about, for a woman with more pain than imaginable called for help, called me for help.
The ground grumbled with fury from behind me. The heavy platoon of wolves arrived in a quick furry. I turned and looked through the mist of the lands. Their eyes had glowed through the fog, I remembered, and I could make out three glowing purple spots running towards me. No fear rippled through my bones like my first encounter with wolves.
They were different from the ones previously. All had dark cloth clenched between their curved teeth. Cloaks, I deciphered.
The sound of them shifting bounced off the trees as the platoon formed into men and women. I recognised my ladies immediately, their actions quick to put on their cloaks and run towards me. Huxley was there as well, along with Fern and Alex. The high Priestess, Ayla, was there and at that moment in time I had only talked with her a few times. She stood behind the others as they rushed to my frozen form, unable to break the hypnotic haze that controlled my body.
She watched me as I watched her. Her piercing coal eyes stared into my own, she saw something. A flicker of recognition shined in her eyes and her mouth opened in shock.
A figured blocked my view of the High Priestess.
Kenna.
She took her coat off, unworried about her nudity, and placed the warm fabric around me. I looked over to Vanya and Emilia who were almost sagging with relief. Huxley ran a hand through his messy hair that toppled over his eyes. Fern brushed past my ladies and embraced me into a bear hug. She pulled back and gripped my shoulders, almost too tightly.
"What on Nivadia were you thinking!" Fern exclaimed.
"The woman..." I croaked out.
"What woman, Sarah?" Fern asked. She looked around the fog covered forest and saw no woman. She couldn't understand, none of them could.
I thought for a moment before the woman's screams of pain reached my ears again.
"The woman screaming, we must help her," I rushed out before trying to turn around. Fern's grip on my shoulders kept me in place.
"Sarah, who is screaming? What is going on?" She asked, her voice laced with fear.
Before I could have answered a soft, yet commanding voice spoke.
"Someone is calling for her," the High Priestess said as if she had finally put the puzzle together.
"She needs me, please can you help?" I managed to free myself from Fern and walked towards Ayla.
She shook her head before walking towards me. She only stopped when I could feel her warm breath fan across my face. She lifted her hands and cupped my face. Her eyes looked into mine before she began to mutter unintelligible words under her breath. A shift in the air awakened something deep inside of me, a powerful presence was in the forest watching over us now. A strong breeze swirled around the Priestess and I, swishing our hair in colourful patterns of chaos. Ayla's eyes blinked, once, twice, a third time before the blacks of her eyes no longer showed. Only a glowing white. Vibration shook my cheeks as the white glow passed from her hands into my mind. I could feel her search through my head, seeing everything. I could do nothing to stop, not knowing how or if I even could. I felt the warmth travel from my mind to my ears.
"I hear her" the Priestess gasped.
A sharp pain expanded in my brain. I didn't like her in my mind, even when I felt that she meant no harm. She was not an enemy, I could feel her pure intention. Such a pure heart, I had thought to myself. The pain magnified. I could feel a sense of protection enter me. I had felt this before. Every time I felt this someone got hurt, whether it be someone I cared for or not. The power gripped at the Priestesses essence in my body. It was fighting against the intrusive spirit that had entered mine. I felt my wrist burn and white sparks lit my body. The power ripped the Priestess presence and shoved back into her body, but I could not let go of my hold. My consciousness was now in hers.
I felt her fear as she understood what happened. For a split second, I felt how scared she was of me until her breath evened and her heart slowed. The fear dissolved and she let me travel into her thoughts. I saw a little girl running through a forest, her dark onyx hair trailing behind her. I felt the absolute bliss that encased her heart. She had never felt so free. The image changed and a tall man stood before me. He was beautiful. With fiery red hair that shined when the sun hit it at a certain angle, it passed his shoulder in length. His soft grey eyes looked down at me with love, his thumb stroked my cheek. I leaned into his touch before connecting my lips to his. I loved this man. He was my soulmate. No, Ayla loved this man, he was her soulmate. A flash of bright light covered my mind until the image slowly faded and I was walking into an old temple. Green vines travelled up its sides, small valleys dented the walls and allowed streams of water to glide down the stones. I walked through the entrance and took in the familiar setting. Passages spiked along the entrance, an unearthly illuminating glow shined in the temple which allowed me to see. It was as if the full moon was sleeping inside the temple, waiting for its time to shine in the sky. I walked down the pathway in familiarity until I came into a room with high ceilings. A statue of a woman stood in the centre, she was holding a bow with an arrow drawn back in the string. She stood in a tall confidant stance, a crown of golden leaves wrapped around her head. Her body was covered in a warrior's outfit, the armour fitting tightly against her body, showing the dips and curves of her body. Muscle was carved out of the smooth white stone, Ayla's memories told me the name, Moon Stone. Two giant wolves bowed in front of her, one made of black marble and the other white. I understood now, that was the Moon Goddess.
Ayla's memory continued as she walked towards the statue. Her body lowered to the ground until she was bowing low like the wolves in the monument. She began to pray in a foreign language until tingling covered her body. I felt the foreign power enter her but with the help of her memories I understood what it was, the Goddess was entering her. A flash of green and white and blue covered my vision. The colours morphed into the form of the Goddesses statue, but this was no statue. She stood in front of me. She smiled down at me as she floated in the air. She reached her hand towards me and touched one of her fingers into my third eyes. I was no longer in Ayla's mind. She has told me a message. She told me what I must do.
Ayla and I came back to consciousness. Her eyes ceased to glow, and my wrist followed, the sparking that came from my body died also. She let go of my face and staggered back. The red-haired man rushed to her side and held her in his arms. Phantom love entered my heart, but I knew that is was not my own emotions. My heart already felt the torment of love for two men, I did not need another.
The hypnotic force loosened its hold on me, and the cries of the woman quietened until I no longer heard her. After that I allowed others to lead me back to the Palace. I rode on Huxley's wolf as he was the strongest among the group. I allowed Fern to heal my wounds from walking through the woods. I allowed my Ladies to lead me back to my chambers, where they poured me a warm bath and cleaning my hair. They left me to myself, but I knew they wouldn't stray far.
I remember the feelings that the woman felt and as I finish scrubbing my body of blood and grime, I replay what the Goddess had told me. I have no doubt about her existence now.
I understand why she sent me here.

Hey guys!
Here I am, writing this chapter... in the dark and cold. The power went out halfway through writing the chapter so I had to trudge up mountains, across winding creeks and down dangerous valleys to find a power source for the computer...
In all seriousness though, I had to find the generator in the shed and start it up (which proved to be a hard task) and bring it back to the house. So I did trudge somewhere.
Okay, rant over.
What do you think the Goddess told Sarah? Who was the woman? Why was she crying out for help? Why could only Sarah hear her?
Do not worry my young ones, all answers will be revealed in due time.
Stay safe! Peace out.
