Trees and Snow

The Ghost jumped from hyperspace, approaching a large white planet.
"Here we go, we'll get our tree here" Hera told the crew over the com.
Hera piloted the ship down to the planet, unable to stop smiling. She always enjoyed this time of year. As they went further down, trees dotting the landscape appeared. All green, large and rather bushy. Pine trees.
Hera set the Ghost down and switched off the controls.
Hera stood and walked from the cockpit to the entry hall. She found everyone else there, the ramp lowered making a cold draft swoop through the ship. Chopper warbled saying he was staying on the ship because snow froze his circuits. The crew walked down the ramp and looked out at the sight before them. The sun made the snow glisten while small flecks of ice rested on the trees like fairy lights. Small critters jumped from here to there, making footprints in the snow.
"Wow" Ezra stared.
"I never knew snow and ice could be so...beautiful."
"We've gotta be outta here before nightfall so let's find our tree" Sabine said.

Ezra gazed around at the animals doing their own thing. He always appreciated wildlife and nature so this was quite a nice change from battling all the time. He felt a sudden weight smack him in the back, almost making him faceplant into the snow. He turned to see Sabine trying to keep a straight face, gazing at him.
"What was that? Did you throw that?" Ezra asked wiping small flecks of ice off his jacket.
"Maybe, maybe not" Sabine shrugged.
Ezra raised a brow at the Mandalorian before smirking. The girl turned away from the boy as he scooped a handful of snow in his hands.
"Hey Sabine" he said.
"Yeah Ez..." Sabine turned to look at him before being thrown off her feet as a snow ball smacked her in the face.
Sabine blinked a few times, stunned as she shook her head to clear it. She heard laughter and looked up to see Ezra beside himself with giggles. Grinning mischievously at her.
"Why you son of a" Sabine grinned scrambling to her feet and pelting a snowball at him.
"Woah!" Ezra ducked the cold sphere in time and smirked at Sabine.
"Oh you wanna play this game huh? Alright then."
He grabbed some snow and compacted it into a ball. He threw it at Sabine who dodged and threw one of her own.
"You're going down Bridger!" Sabine yelled.
"Yeah right, I'm gonna own you Wren!"
"Ha! In your dreams!"

"Timber!" Kanan yelled as his lightsaber sliced through a pine tree.
The tree fell into the snow with a soft thump and bits of white flew out from underneath.
"Good cut" Hera remarked.
"Straight through and even."
Kanan put his weapon away and raised his head.
"Can you hear that?" He asked.
"Hear what?" Zeb inquired.
They fell silent, listening carefully. The faint sound of laughter reached their ears.
"That sounds like Ezra and Sabine" Hera remarked.
"What have they gotten themselves into this time?"
"I'll go check it out" Zeb said.
He walked through the tree towards the sound of the teens giggles.

"Missed!" Ezra called, dodging an incoming snowball before throwing one of his own.
"Woah!" Sabine yelped when it came inches from her face.
"Think fast!"
She hurled a snowball at Ezra who swiftly side stepped it.
WHAP!
The two looked over to see Zeb standing at the edge of the trees, eyes wide and face frosted. At first, they just stared at one another then the teens cracked. They laughed so hard they thought they might burst. Pointing at Zeb who was still trying to process what had just happened. When the two rebel's giggled died down, they grinned at the Lasat.
"You look like Father Christmas" Sabine commented.
"Or a beared Tibidee" Ezra snickered.
"Okay, you want to go?" Zeb asked, wiping the snow from his face.
"Then let's go."
He crafted a snowball and threw it at Ezra. The boy gave a yell but didn't dodge it in time. He was thrown into his back by the blow and blinked a few times.
"Who's Father Christmas now?" Zeb grinned.
"Oh you're on Zeb" Ezra laughed standing and hurling a snowball at the Lasat.
"Ezra think fast!" Sabine called throwing a ball of ice.
"You're gonna have to do better than that Sabine!" Ezra said ducking.
"I'm just getting started!"

"Zeb's been gone awhile" Hera remarked as she and Kanan got the tree up the ramp and into Ghost's entry hall.
"Yeah, we'd better go look for him" Kanan nodded.
"Stay here Chop" Hera patted the astromech's dome.
Chopper warbled an affirmative before locking himself magnetically to the ground.
The two adults walked in the direction Zeb had disappeared in.
"Do you think they're alright?" Hera asked.
"Come on, this is Zeb, Sabine and Ezra were talking about" Kanan reminded her.
"That's what worries me" Hera sighed before her head lifted a little.
"I can hear laughter again, can you?" She asked.
Kanan was about to reply when a snowball suddenly whizzed past his ear, inches from his face.
"What was that?" Hera stared.
They moved forward and pushed low branches of pine trees out of the way. Hera's eyes widened at what met her gaze. Zeb, Sabine and Ezra were running around in the snow, laughing as they threw balls of ice at one another.
"Hera, wanna fill me in?" Kanan asked.
"They're having a snowball fight" Hera relied, unable to keep the amusement and adoration out of her voice.
"Well then," Kanan picked up some snow and made it into a snowball.
"Shall we participate?"
"Aren't you a little old, Master Jedi?" Hera asked mockingly.
"Says the aged, hot tempered Twe'lik" Kanan grinned.
"You're so dead, I'm gonna bury you in snowballs" Hera threatened playfully.
"Prove it."
Kanan bolted when he felt Hera grab his wrist.
"Guys! Insane Twe'lik incomimg!" Kanan called to the other rebels.
"What did you do to this time?" Sabine asked with skepticism.
"He called me an aged, hot tempered Twe'lik!" Hera told them, appearing from the trees.
"He said what now? Get him!" Ezra laughed already tossing a snowball at his Master.
"Ezra! You're supposed to be on my side!" Kanan exclaimed.
"You're my Padawan!"
"I can switch my loyalties and I'm siding with Hera on this one" Ezra chuckled.
"Traitor!"
"Attack!" Sabine yelled.
"Argh! Guys! No! Stop!" Kanan laughed as he was overwhelmed by snowballs.
With all the force beating against him, Kanan fell backwards where he was crushed in a dog pile. Zeb was on top of him with Hera on him, then came Ezra then Sabine sat on the top.
"Well this was fun" Sabine smiled.
"Yeah, we don't do this often" Hera nodded.
"It's good to do something different for a change" Zeb nodded.
"How you doing Kanan?" Ezra looked down at his Master.
"Can't...breathe" Kanan gasped.
The crew laughed and got off the blind Jedi. Ezra helped him up and they walked back to the Ghost.
"Got a tree?" Sabine asked.
"Yep, one that'll fit in the common room" Hera replied.
"So it's medium sized?" Zeb inquired in which Hera nodded.
Chopper was waiting for the group with mugs of hot chocolate resting on his dome and in his hands.
"What do you know" Ezra smiled taking a cup for Kanan and one for himself.
"Murderbot has a heart."
Zeb looked down at the droid in suspicion.
"Are you being controlled by those Imperial Specialists again?" He asked.
Chopper made an offended series of warbles and beeps that translated into:
"Seriously?! Can't I be nice for one second without causing suspicions?! Now, do you want the hot chocolate or not?!"
"Sheesh relax Chopper" Zeb rolled his eyes taking a mug.
"I was just joking."
"Thanks for this Chop" Sabine said gratefully, sipping the hot drink.
The droid gave a whistle of "your welcome" before looking at the pine tree. He warbled at Hera in curiousity.
"Yes we're putting it in the common room again this year" Hera replied.
The droid asked another question.
"Did Chopper just ask if we're going to set the tree on fire this year?" Ezra stared.
"Yeah, we do it every Christmas. We often set off fireworks as well" Kanan explained.
"It's Chopper's favourite part of Christmas."
"I can't wait to see it" Ezra smiled.
