The heavy darkness of the tunnel seemed to press in on all sides, the dim light of the flashlights bouncing wildly off the wet, uneven walls as Odette tugged both Okarun and Momo along behind her. Their hesitant steps echoed in the confined space, adding to the eerie atmosphere. Okarun and Momo whined loudly, clearly not wanting to be the first ones to venture further.
"Do you wanna get your balls back or not?!" Odette snapped, turning to face Okarun, her glare illuminated by the flashlight beam.
Okarun's talisman-covered head bobbed vigorously. "I swear I do!"
"And you!" Odette spun toward Momo, who flinched. "Do you wanna watch him take a dump in the bathroom forever?!"
"Oh, hell no!" Momo blurted.
"Then let's get in here and kill that fuckin' hag!" With that, Odette grabbed their hands tighter and stormed ahead, dragging them along like reluctant children.
Despite their newfound resolve, Okarun and Momo couldn't resist bickering over who would go in last. Each jostled for a position in the middle, sending their flashlights darting erratically across the walls and ceiling.
Odette's patience finally snapped. She stopped abruptly, causing both of them to nearly collide with her. She turned on her heels and stomped toward them. "Alright, that's enough!" She separated them forcefully, her grip on Okarun's hand firm as she intertwined their fingers. "You're with me, Kenny."
Okarun's cheeks flushed at the contact, but he allowed himself to be pulled forward. Momo and Okarun exchanged a sheepish glance, their squabbling dying down as they realized Odette's annoyance.
"What's the plan when Turbo Granny shows up anyway?" Momo asked, breaking the tense silence.
"Punch her?" Odette suggested nonchalantly, shining her flashlight on a crack in the wall where water dripped steadily.
"No!" Okarun interjected, exasperation lacing his voice. "We lure her out of Shono City and away from the spirit bound to this tunnel. That's when we can weaken her enough to defeat her."
"Oh yeah," Momo said, her tone casual as if she'd known all along.
Odette spotted red footprints smeared across the walls and floor. Her chest tightened as recognition hit—these were the same ominous marks she'd seen before Turbo Granny first appeared. "Guys," she murmured, her voice low. "I think she's close."
Unfazed, Momo grinned, clearly trying to bolster their morale. "This'll probably be easier than the Flatwoods Monster. We handled that alien just fine! I bet we could take her down right now."
Odette chuckled softly. "With our luck, this'll probably be the hardest fight ever."
"Oh, come on! What's there to be scared of?" Momo said, holding her large flashlight like a weapon. "She's just some old hag, not a giant alien!"
Odette opened her mouth to respond but froze, her breath hitching as her flashlight beam caught a massive, gray-haired head looming behind Momo. "Guys... what the fuck is that?!"
Momo turned slowly, her confidence draining instantly. "Eep!" Okarun squeaked, and all three screamed in unison, their voices echoing through the tunnel.
Turbo Granny's grotesque face twisted into a menacing grin, her yellow eyes glowing as they flashed red light across the tunnel. Her enormous form blocked both the entrance and exit, trapping them.
"She's freaking huge!" Momo shrieked, stumbling backward.
"What are we gonna do?!" Okarun yelled, panic lacing his voice.
Odette steadied her shaking flashlight, her long lashes fluttering as she fought to stay calm. "Stick to the plan! We have to lure her out of the city!"
The tension tightened as Turbo Granny's flashing eyes signaled her intent to attack. Her gaping mouth-like eyes sent a wave of hot, rancid air toward the trio, forcing them to recoil.
"She's going to attack!" Okarun cried.
"Then don't just stand there—do something!" Odette barked, raising her arms defensively.
"Uh, that goes for you too, Dot!" Momo shot back, scooping up a handful of rocks. She then focused her psychic energy, summoning bats to swarm Turbo Granny. The bats descended swiftly, but Turbo Granny's monstrous eyes snapped shut, devouring the swarm in an instant.
"Ewww! Her eyes are mouths!" Momo cried, her face twisted in disgust.
Odette gagged, clutching Okarun's arm tightly. Her tiara trembled from the vibrations in the air. "This is so gross!"
"Let me take a crack at her, Miss Ayase!" Okarun declared, his voice tinged with determination. "Release the curse!"
"Okay!" Momo nodded, extending her hands as she focused her psychokinesis.
Odette gave him a small but encouraging smile. "Good luck, Kenny."
"Stop calling him that!" Momo groaned, puffing out her cheeks in frustration.
Okarun's transformation was immediate. His hair flared white, his eyes marked with thick vertical stripes, and his jaw darkened with a toothy mask. His body hunched, his stance exuding a strange mix of power and despair.
"Damn, she's huge," Okarun muttered, his tone somber. "What was I thinking? I can't do jack shit to her."
"Forgot about your downer attitude in this form," Momo quipped, her hands glowing faintly as she controlled the curse.
"We're rooting for you, babe!" Odette shouted, her voice strained as she tried to encourage Okarun.
"Yeah, go kick her fat ass!" Momo chimed in, her tone more desperate than confident.
Okarun took a tentative step forward, his hunched figure radiating Turbo Granny's cursed energy. "I'll die from the stress first," he muttered, a hint of dry humor lacing his otherwise somber demeanor.
But just as he advanced, the cursed energy surrounding him flickered and vanished. Okarun staggered, his hunched form straightening as he reverted to his normal state. His wide, startled eyes darted between Momo and Odette.
"What the—?!" Momo gasped. "Why did he change back?!"
"That's fucking impossible!" Odette exclaimed, her voice rising in frustration. She scratched her head, her mind racing. "Why would his powers just disappear like that?"
Okarun turned back toward Momo, his expression twisted with concern. "Miss Ayase! Where did the curse go?"
"I—I don't know!" Momo stammered, squinting as she scanned his body for any trace of cursed energy. "I can't see it anymore! It's just... gone!"
Turbo Granny let out a cackling laugh that reverberated through the tunnel, her grotesque heads shifting closer to the trio. "I gave the little twerp his dong back, and now the curse is all gone from him," she sneered, her mouths curling into twisted grins.
Okarun flinched, his face flushing red. "You didn't have to say it like that..."
Turbo Granny's massive heads loomed even closer, her glowing yellow eyes narrowing with rage. "I didn't expect you to tap into my power and use it against me. But that's the last time you'll pull that trick, you thieving pigs!" she roared, her mouths snapping open wide as she prepared to swallow them whole.
The air pressure surged, nearly knocking Okarun off his feet. Momo stumbled, trying to regain her footing as the gusts pushed her backward.
Odette gritted her teeth, her heartbeat thundering in her ears as she dug her heels into the ground. She reached out and grabbed Okarun by the arm, pulling him toward her with all her strength. With her other hand, she latched onto Momo's wrist.
"Dot, what are you doing?!" Momo yelled over the howling wind. "You're gonna get yourself hurt!"
Okarun echoed her concern. "You can't fight her like this! It's too much—"
"Just hold onto me!" Odette shouted, her voice filled with determination.
A black aura began to radiate from her body, swirling like a protective shield around the three of them. The oppressive force of Turbo Granny's breath seemed to weaken as the aura expanded, encasing them in its dark energy.
"I'm gonna chew you all up good!" Turbo Granny bellowed, her massive jaws snapping closer, the tunnel vibrating with her maniacal laughter.
Odette's muscles tensed as she focused every ounce of her energy on maintaining the protective barrier. Sweat beaded on her forehead, and her breathing grew labored, but she held firm. "I'm not letting her win," she whispered to herself, her resolve unshakable.
Turbo Granny's jaws gaped open impossibly wide, poised to clamp down on the trio. But before she could strike, a fiery red light erupted in the tunnel.
A massive scythe materialized, its crimson blade glowing with an intense, otherworldly energy. It swung through the air with a sharp, crackling sound, embedding itself in the ground just inches from Turbo Granny's face. The impact sent a shockwave through the tunnel, forcing Turbo Granny to recoil.
"What the hell is that?!" Momo yelled, her voice trembling as she clung to Odette.
The scythe pulsed with a menacing energy, its jagged edges radiating heat. Odette's black aura seemed to respond to it, intertwining with the scythe's crimson glow in a symbiotic dance.
Turbo Granny hissed, her massive heads retreating slightly. "So, the little Reaper shows her true colors," she growled, her eyes narrowing at Odette. "You think you're special because of that spirit inside you? Let's see how far that power gets you!"
The split second after Turbo Granny's attack was stopped, Momo's mind latched onto her grandmother's instructions. "Taunt her," Seiko's voice echoed like a bell in her head. "She thinks she's the fastest thing around, and if you challenge her, she'll take you up on it without batting a single eye."
Momo straightened up, brushing dirt off her hands. "What's the matter, you scared to race? Or do you want to get chopped up by my friend's scythe here?" she asked smugly, jerking her thumb toward the glowing red blade still hovering protectively near Odette.
Turbo Granny's grotesque, contorted face twitched, her glowing yellow eyes narrowing. The heads flanking her massive form snarled in unison, their toothy mouths trembling in irritation.
Odette's muscles strained as the dark energy shielding them fluctuated, the scythe's power nearly overwhelming her. 'Momo better be cooking up something good with this deal! I don't think I can hold on for much longer,' she thought, sweat trickling down her temple.
"Chomping on us is so passé," Momo continued, waving her hand dismissively. "You're supposed to be the Turbo Granny, right? Well, here's your chance to show off how fast you really are—I mean, if you're so turbo."
Momo placed her hands on her hips, her tone taunting. "Let's race and see who's faster!"
Turbo Granny froze mid-lunge, her grotesque mouth closing abruptly. The heads to her left and right turned to her with what almost seemed like curiosity before shifting back to glare at Momo.
"Damn punks!" Turbo Granny screeched, shrinking down to her humanoid form in seconds. Her hands clenched behind her back, and her hunched figure shivered with fury. "Who do you think you're mouthing off to over here?! I've never lost a race, you hear me? Never. I'll take ya on—don't think I won't. It don't matter if I eat you now or later."
"What're the rules?" she snarled, pacing back and forth like a cornered predator. "Where's the finish line?"
"No finish line," Momo replied coolly, crossing her arms. "This is a game of tag. All you gotta do is catch us. Simple enough?"
Turbo Granny tilted her head, her mouth twisting into a sinister grin. "Catch you, huh? Fine. What's the starting time?"
Momo smirked. "We'll start running, and you'll count ten minutes to give us a head start. Them's the rules. You break them, and the legend of Turbo Granny will go right down the crapper."
Odette blinked, momentarily distracted by the signal Momo made behind her back with the flashlight lying on the ground. Smart, she thought, her confidence in Momo growing.
Turbo Granny stopped pacing, her glowing eyes narrowing. "Alright. I can't stand people who break the rules," she spat, flicking her hands dismissively.
"That's our cue!" Odette exclaimed, standing and yanking Okarun to his feet. She intertwined her fingers with his and grabbed Momo's arm, pulling them both toward the tunnel's exit. "Start running, you guys!"
The three took off, their footsteps echoing in the confined space as Turbo Granny began her count. "One minute, two minutes..." her raspy voice rang out, sending chills down their spines.
As they ran, Odette glanced back at Momo. "Great thing you did there. I don't know how much longer my protection would've lasted!"
"Yeah," Okarun panted, his grip tightening on Odette's hand. "I thought we were goners for a second there! You're a genius, Miss Ayase!"
"I know!" Momo grinned, her voice tinged with pride. "But I wish I'd given us more time. Ten minutes isn't enough to get us out of town!"
The tunnel seemed endless, the faint light of the exit growing closer but never near enough. Odette's legs burned as her shorts clung tightly to her thighs, but she pressed on. Just a little further.
But then Momo screamed, her voice piercing through the tunnel. "No! Let me go!"
Odette whipped her head around just in time to see Momo being grabbed by ghostly hands erupting from the floor, walls, and ceiling. "Fuck! That hag cheated!" Odette shouted, running back to try to free her friend.
Turbo Granny stood triumphantly atop the writhing mass of hands restraining Momo, her sinister laugh echoing through the tunnel. "The little girl's ten minutes are up. Now I'll start the count for you two. One minute, two minutes..."
"This isn't fair!" Okarun yelled, his voice shaking with anger. "Let Miss Ayase go!"
Odette clenched her fists, glaring at the spirit. "Why are you counting like that? Stick to the rules!"
"No one said how to count, Miss Reaper Girl!" Turbo Granny sneered, summoning more hands to distract Odette. "Four minutes, five minutes..."
Okarun tried to plead again, but Turbo Granny leaned down, her face inches from his. "Ten minutes! Now you're mine!" she snarled, her hands closing in on him.
Okarun froze, his mind racing with panic. 'You're a dork, and next time—us girls would probably have to save you then too!' Momo's teasing words echoed in his mind.
Then, as if on instinct, he lunged forward and bit Turbo Granny's chest. "I'm gonna suck on your tits!" he yelled, his voice muffled.
Turbo Granny shrieked in fury, flailing wildly to dislodge him. "You little punk! Get off me!" she bellowed.
Odette and Momo stared in disbelief. "What the hell is he doing?!" Momo yelled, struggling against her restraints.
Odette cringed. "Whatever it is, it's working!"
Odette gasped as she saw through the writhing dungeon of flesh. Okarun had latched onto Turbo Granny, sinking his teeth into her chest. The sight was both bizarre and horrifying, and a flurry of panic overtook the group.
Turbo Granny shrieked in irritation, flailing as she tried to dislodge Okarun. "You little brat! Let go of me!" she bellowed, her grotesque body twisting with unnatural movements.
"What the hell just happened? Is Okarun alright?" Momo yelled, her voice strained as she struggled against the fleshy restraints binding her.
Odette's sharp eyes flickered to Okarun's form. "No, she's got him again!" she snapped, her grip tightening on her scythe. Turbo Granny had possessed him once more, and it was clear she had no intention of letting go this time.
Momo kicked at the flesh surrounding her, but it didn't budge. "Damn it! She's stronger than before!"
Odette, her dark aura pulsing around her body, stepped forward. "Stay calm, Momo. I've got this." With a swing of her scythe, she unleashed a surge of power that cleaved through the fleshy bonds holding them. The severed pieces fell away, writhing as if alive.
"Do it!" Odette commanded, her voice firm as she turned her attention back to Turbo Granny.
Momo, now free, channeled her psychic powers with renewed determination. Her hands glowed with an otherworldly energy as she focused on constricting Turbo Granny's aura. "I've got her!" she shouted, her concentration unwavering.
Turbo Granny hissed, her grotesque form contorting in resistance. "Curse you!" she roared, summoning cracks in the ground to disrupt Momo's focus. She lunged forward, her massive claws swiping at the girls.
Odette stepped in front of Momo, her scythe slicing through the air in a fiery arc. The blade clashed with Turbo Granny's claws, sending sparks flying. "Not so fast, hag!" she growled, her dark energy flaring brighter.
Turbo Granny's movements grew frantic, her aura flickering under the combined assault. Momo tightened her grip on the spirit's energy, pulling it toward her with sheer willpower. "Hold her steady, Dot!" Momo yelled, beads of sweat forming on her brow.
"I'm on it!" Odette's voice was sharp as she pushed Turbo Granny back with a burst of her reaper energy. Her muscles burned from the effort, but she refused to falter.
Finally, with a guttural scream, Turbo Granny's aura collapsed, retreating entirely into Okarun's body. He fell to his knees, gasping for breath as his normal form returned.
Odette rushed to him, dropping her scythe as she pulled him into a hug. "You're okay," she said, relief flooding her voice. "I'm so glad."
Okarun stiffened, his face turning crimson as Odette's arms wrapped around him. His head rested briefly against her chest, and he felt as though his body might combust from the contact. "I-I'm fine," he stammered, his voice barely audible.
Momo stepped closer, panting as she wiped sweat from her brow. "Don't get too comfortable," she said, pointing toward Okarun's back. "She's not gone yet."
Odette followed Momo's gaze, her breath hitching as a small, grotesque essence of Turbo Granny emerged behind Okarun. "Damn it! Let me out of this brat!" the spirit screeched, her yellow eyes glaring at them.
Odette's grip tightened on Okarun as she gave Turbo Granny a smug smirk. "Too late for that now, Granny," she taunted, her voice laced with mockery. Momo joined in, laughing mischievously. "We caught you, you scummy hag! What should we do with you now?"
Their victory was short-lived, however, as an eerie voice echoed through the tunnel. "Give her back," it demanded, sending shivers down their spines.
"Give Granny back!" The earth trembled as an enormous, crab-like figure emerged from the shadows, its glowing eyes locking onto the trio. The Earthbound Spirit had revealed itself to save Turbo Granny, and its massive claws scraped against the tunnel walls with an ear-splitting screech.
Momo and Okarun screamed in unison, their panic palpable. Odette, standing between them, stared at the creature curiously. "That's... a huge crab," she muttered, her disbelief barely masking her fear.
"Earthbound Spirit, kill them!" Turbo Granny commanded, her voice venomous.
Odette's instincts kicked in as the spirit charged. "Okay, I think it's time to run!" she yelled. Without hesitation, she grabbed Momo and Okarun, hoisting them like sacks of rice over her shoulders. Her dark aura flared to life, propelling her forward as the monstrous crab gave chase.
"Don't let her catch us!" Momo screamed, clutching onto Odette tightly.
"I'm trying!" Odette shot back, her legs burning with effort as she sprinted toward the tunnel's exit.
"Hold on tight, we're getting out of here!"
