Roleplay Day 1

This was a roleplay that I and KoffeeNPens started the other day with our Countryhumans OCs, Mandara and UPA.  UPA is from Koffee's book Rise and Fall, but this UPA doesn't follow the book timeline so as not to spoil anything, also this roleplay is set around 2016.  Go check out his book, it is really good.  Anyway, I'll be updating this as we go along.  FYI: K stands for Koffee and M stands for Mittens365, also WATCH is an event that 0luv0love0 made for his book.

M:    "I can't believe you convinced me to come here Thunder." Mandara said, he and his brother Mandara Army were at the annual WATCH event, it had been a few years since they attended one so MA thought they should come.

"Come on Trigger, you have been so stressed lately with work, it won't kill you to get out and socialize for once." MA said, nudging him with his wing.

Mandara huffed at him, "Fine whatever, I'm going to get a drink I'll be right back." so he left without another word.

K:   UPA wasn't one to normally attend these yearly WATCH meetings, but since 2014 and the ongoing conflict striving from that year, he made sure to accompany Ukraine.  He yawned slightly, leaning against a wall, Ukraine was visiting with a few other countries so he was just standing off to the sidelines.

The insurgent had never been that social, nor did he try to develop many relations with other countries or entities throughout the years.  He ruffled his wings slightly, pushing himself off the wall, his leg starting to get sore from holding his full weight for a while. UPA then made his way through the room, heading over to the snack table, more or less avoiding people and keeping to himself.

M:   Mandara was standing near the snack table, drinking punch, and just watched the other countries have fun.  Mandara didn't like big crowds as it made him feel claustrophobic, he much preferred large spaces where he could spread his wings.  He saw something flutter from the corner of his eye and turned to see a winged black and red country walk up to the table.  He studied him with curiosity, the Mandarian's never seen him before and was wondering who he was.  His eye landed on the country's wings, they were huge, definitely bigger than his own and that kind of intimidated him.

K:   UPA took a small plate and grabbed a few small snacks, glancing around at the other countries just to see who was around.  Of course not many knew who he was, he had been lost between the pages of history, to say the least, all he was now was a symbol for the most part.

UPA sighed softly before biting into a small sandwich, uncomfortably shifting his weight from his prosthetic to his leg.  The feeling of someone watching him caught his attention, causing him to love over in the other's direction.

M:   At first, Mandara didn't notice that the country was looking at him, but when he did he flinched and froze.  His eye begun to glow in both embarrassment and fear, he didn't know what to do now that he had been caught staring like a creep.

K:   UPA didn't exactly give off the friendliest impression, he always tended to have a standoffish appearance and he almost always had his guard up, especially around so many countries. Subconsciously, he pressed his wings tighter to his back when he noticed the stranger looking at them, narrowing his eye slightly.

"You need something?"

M:   Mandara's eye glowed brighter, the intimidating vibes coming from this country were palpable and he was practically shaking at this point.

"N-no" he stuttered, looking away as he nervously rubbed the back of his neck. "I-I was just admiring your wings, t-their quite beautiful."  Mandara froze as he said that, he wasn't paying attention to his words and now he just made it even more awkward and weird.  He looked back to see the other's reaction.

K:   UPA slightly relaxed when he saw how the country reacted, easily figuring that he wasn't a threat.  He was slightly taken back by the compliment though, not used to receiving them, so he gave a slight dip of his head.

"Thank you, you too." He said back, slightly awkwardly since he didn't know how exactly to respond.

M:   Mandara breathed a small sigh of relief, his eye dimmed back down as he relaxed a little.

"Thanks," he said, fiddling with his feathers, "I personally thought they were a bit too flashy with so many colors, but yours are nice."

Mandara then cleared his throat, "I'm sorry that I was staring earlier, I've just never seen you around before, what's your name?"

K:   UPA leaned slightly against the table as he watched the other, letting him finish before speaking up.

"You're welcome, maybe a bit but they are still nice, more cheerful looking." He commented before giving a small nod. "It's okay, you caught me off guard though. You haven't seen me because I don't usually attend these things and I don't really travel."

He then held his hand out to the country for a handshake "The names Ukrayins'ka Povstans'ka Armiya, but you can just call me UPA, and you are?"

M:   "Mandara, pleasure to meet you." Mandara said, shaking his hand.  He then added, "you know, I think I've heard of you, aren't you that insurgent army from Ukraine that fought against the soviets back in WWII?"

K:   "Nice to meet you as well." UPA couldn't help but be a bit surprised, it wasn't often someone knew who he was or what he did. "I did, as well as the Germans and Poles." He added in with a small nod.

M:   Mandara lifted a brow, "The Poles? ... Interesting."  Strange, Poland never mentioned fighting the Ukrainians before, but it was probably best not to talk about that now.

"Anyway, so how did you get mixed up with the Germans?"

K:   "Interesting how? Ukraine and Poland never had a good relationship back then." He simply left it at that, not wanting to talk about it, they were memories he wasn't proud of.

"During WWII the Germans took control over most of the Ukrainian land, at first my brother and I thought they would be our liberators, we were wrong and so I found myself fighting the Germans for freedom.  Up until the end of the war, I mostly fought against the Germans, the Red Army only coming into the picture after the events of Stalingrad."  He explained it as short and simple as he could, assuming the other didn't want all the details.

M:   "Hmm, guess Reich was feeling merciful to us when I made my deal with him." He said, crossing his arms, "guess it was also a good thing I didn't ask him for help when the Russians started invading my country."

K:   "Lucky, we didn't get the luxury of a deal," UPA said with a sigh, reaching down to rub his thigh slightly. "I need to go sit down."  He muttered, mostly to himself, he had been standing too long and was starting to hurt.

M:   "Oh sorry, I didn't mean to make you stand so long." Mandara apologized, he then looked around, "there's a table over there if you wanna keep talking."

K:   "It's fine, just getting sore from the pressure, and sure," UPA said before making his way over to the table, he pulled out a chair and sat down, sighing as he set his plate down.  He honestly didn't mind talking to Mandara, he wasn't the most social with strangers but he couldn't deny he liked the company.

M:   Mandara followed and also sat down, awkwardly trying to shift so he didn't sit on any of his feathers, eventually he got frustrated and flipped the chair around so the back was in front of him. "I hate that it is so hard to sit in chairs," he grunted.

K:  UPA had simply spread his wings slightly before sitting down so they hung down on either side of the chair, not really folded in but enough so they were out of the way. "Ya, just takes some thought, they do tend to get in the way of a lot of things though."

M:  "Yeah" Mandara agreed.  He then fell into silence, unsure of how to continue the conversation.  After a bit he spoke, "what's that symbol mean?" he asked, pointing to UPA's eyepatch.

That's the end of day one hope you liked it, I will update it's once we have more content.
