CH Oneshot #4: Gift From an Enemy Pt 1
(Disclaimer: mentions of rape, proceed with caution)
(I had urges, ok, it happens, if you don't like this, then don't keep reading. There is no actual NSFW, just the aftermath of it, I think you'll understand quickly where it's going. Other than that, enjoy the story, and be nice in the comments.)
"Well, I guess I'll just let you take it off when you're ready," he said to MA, then pointed to his own neck, "there is a button on the underside of the battery cartridge that will release the locking mechanism, after that, you just take it off like you would any dog collar."
MA nodded in understanding, Ukraine reached for the collar again, but this time unhooked the leash from it, "well, if that is everything, I will be off," he said, turning to Mandara. Mandara nodded and walked up to his now-former enemy, holding his hand out for a handshake.
Ukraine wordlessly shook his hand, then did the same with MA, but he held on for a bit longer than he should have this time, he then leaned close to MA and whispered in his ear.
"Don't think that this is over, MA, I still have one last gift for you, I'm sure it will arrive in a few months, and I'm sure you'll take good care of it for me."
------
Those words still rang clear in his mind, even after nearly five months, MA still couldn't make sense of what Ukraine was talking about. Whatever that "gift" was, it still hadn't come, so was he tricked, or did the Slavic country just forget about it?
"I've got to let that go," the militant said to himself, rhythmically clicking his pen, "I can't focus on anything with that clogging up my mind, it's so frustrating."
He leaned back in his chair and buried his head in his hands, work had been so hard to concentrate on ever since he came back from Ukraine's imprisonment. Even though he promised his brother that he wouldn't "galavant around", he still had a lot of things to do with the war recoveries, like damage repair and tallying what equipment was used and lost. Despite this, he couldn't get it done, no matter what he did he just couldn't focus on anything, and a lot of things contributed to this.
First, MA noticed that his eating habits have gotten a little weird, just the other day one of his soldiers laughed at his lunch; a ham and grape jelly sandwich stuffed with pickles. Even right now, he had a cup of lemonade and hot sauce sitting next to his computer, he didn't even know why he's been craving all these weird foods.
Then there were the mood swings, sometimes he would be very placid and not want to do anything, and other times he got pissed off at the smallest things, like when someone had the heating on too low. Normally he would blame that on his MSPD, but he hadn't heard that voice in his head in nearly five years, which meant he was probably in hibernation.
Another little thing that MA noticed was that he was gaining a bit of weight, it wasn't a lot, just enough to be noticeable by his soldiers, who commented on it a lot that he needed to cut back on the weird snacks. His brother also pointed it out once, but after MA snapped at him he didn't mention it again.
"Gah, shut up and focus on your damn work," the militant groaned, it was quite common for him to narrate to himself, just another thing that distracted him. Taking a deep breath and a sip of his probably poisonous concoction, he picked up his pen and forced himself to finish some work, hoping it would last more than five minutes.
About two hours later, three soldiers were walking and talking on the way to the bathroom for a secret smoke break, Sergeant Jacob Mars, Private Travis Harold, and Captain Grant Charlotte had become close friends after the war, it was just them and their general against the wrath of Ukraine himself. They've been worried about MA recently, they always had to clean and treat the aftermath of Ukraine's playtimes, so they knew what he did to the militant, and had a sneaking suspicion that something more happened.
When they entered the bathroom they immediately heard someone throwing up, and noticed a familiar wing splayed on the floor from the last stall. Jacob was the first to react and walked up to the stall door, gently knocking on it, and asked, "General, is everything ok in there?"
There was a moment of silence, then the door unlocked and was pushed open, MA looked up to his soldier with an, "are you serious" look on his face.
"What does it look like," he grumbled irritably, "I'm sitting on the nasty bathroom floor, puking into the equally disgusting toilet, everything's just peachy."
"Well, did ya eat something bad, mate" Grant piped up, "I mean, aside from everything ya been eating recently."
"Ha ha ha, very funny," the militant mocked, "I had a lemonade with hot sauce, that's it."
MA started throwing up again, Jacob knelt down and pat his back as support, while the other two quietly discussed something. When he was done and flushed everything away, MA just tiredly lay his head on the rim, thanking the Sargent for the comfort.
"Um sir, uh ... permission to speak freely," Travis asked, earning him a raised brow but also a nod of approval, "ok ... um well, everyone's noticed these changes you've been having ever since we got out of Mr. Ukraine's imprisonment. Well, there are some rumors that have been going around ... about what we were subjected to-"
"You're kind of dragging this on, Trav," Jacob pointed out, "do you want me to say it?" After a nod from the private, Jacob took a deep breath and said, "sir, Ukraine raped all of us more than once, you remember that. Well, we know that for countryhumans, both males and females can have kids, so taking note of that, and all these things with the cravings and you putting on weight, we're wondering if you ... you know ..."
It took a moment for those words to sink in, and MA immediately shook his head in denial, "no, no no, that's impossible, I wasn't in season, there is no way I got pregnant, NO way."
"Well, we did a bit of research about this," Grant claimed, pulling out his phone, "there have been cases when a countryhuman got pregnant without being in season, it's extremely rare but sometimes the dividing wall of the colon and the reproductive tract can be forcibly opened if ... hit ... enough times."
He handed MA his phone, the militant scanned over the report as he remembered what Ukraine did to him, he wasn't gentle, that's for sure, so ... was it really possible?
"Let's say that you guys are right for a second," he said, "let's say that maybe I am pregnant, wouldn't I have felt something move by now?"
"Well, technically yes and no," Jacob stated, "for new moms-" MA glared at him, "-er, for new countryhuman parents, you wouldn't feel anything until about 22 weeks, which is how long it's been since then. Um ... if I may ..."
Without waiting for permission, the Sergent gently pressed on MA's stomach, who yelped in surprise and tried to smack him, only to have his arm grabbed by Grant. The militant tried to stand up but it just made him nauseous, so he had to endure this violation of privacy, yet that was quick to leave his mind when he finally felt something, his eyes growing as wide as saucers.
Jacob felt it too, he retracted his hand and nodded to his comrades, confirming their suspicions, though they were concerned about the frozen stance of their general. MA reached down and felt his stomach himself, making sure that he actually felt what he thought he felt. After a minute or two he felt it again; a kick, there was no denying it that time, but this revelation took a bigger toll on MA than the soldiers expected. The humans were shocked to see their general's eyes turn grey, then to watch him bury his face in his arms and start crying uncontrollably, no one has ever seen him cry before, let alone shatter.
They were confused about what to do, should they get him to the medical ward, bring him back to his office, or just sit there and comfort him? Jacob decided that they should probably call MA's brother and get him to come, especially since the militant's cries were drawing attention from passing personnel, so he had his companions keep people out of the bathroom while he dialed Mandara on MA's phone.
Mandara probably broke about fifty road laws as he drove to the military base, when a stranger calls you on your brother's phone and tells you that he hit the worst stage of depression, you'd also probably break the sound barrier to get to them. When he got there he was thankful there were no camera crews and reporters, he felt like they were everywhere and always listening, waiting to tell the world more about their personal lives. He did see a small group of soldiers waiting for him when he got out of his car, he couldn't even ask what happened before they started leading him away.
They led him to the infirmary which immediately concerned him, and when he saw his brother lying in a bed he rushed to his side.
"Thunder, what's wrong, they called me and said you shattered," Mandara fretted, trying to get MA to look at him, so he can see for himself if it was true. MA wouldn't move he just stared into space with an emotionless expression
"Mr. Mandara, sir," Jacob saluted from behind the country, Travis and Grant doing the same, "we were the ones who found the General and called you, we were also held in the same imprisonment as MA under Ukraine."
"What happened then, what was so traumatic that my brother shattered," Mandara asked after saluting back, "in all our lives I only ever seen him shatter once before and we were kids, so what happened?"
The three shifted a bit awkwardly, not sure how to break the news to him, so Jacob just handed him a folded piece of paper. Mandara opened it without question and gasped in shock, it was a picture of an ultrasound, that in itself is quite surprising, but what was more surprising was that the fetus had extra limbs sprouting out of its back. The country was quick to put two and two together, but it didn't make it any less unbelievable, it hurt him that he hadn't noticed anything sooner, all the signs were there, how had he not seen such a change in his brother?
"How long have you all known about this," he asked, "has Thunder known about this the whole time?"
"He would have probably shattered sooner if he did," Grant said bluntly, earning him an elbow to the gut."
"What Captain Charlotte meant to say," Travis interrupted loudly, "was that the General did not know about this, there were suspicions and rumors going around the base, and since us three knew what MA was subjected to by Mr. Ukraine, we felt that it was time to inform him of this information, and one thing led to another, now we're all here."
Mandara sighed in response, he still didn't know how to take all of this, especially since his brother was quite far along. He decided that the best thing to do was put in a mandatory maternity leave and let MA stay home and rest, and hope that he can get his brother to come out of his shattered state soon, as it probably would be harmful to the baby.
"Alright, the best thing we can do for the General is give him the time off," he informed the men, "I'll get the paperwork done myself, and will put his second in command in charge. Since you three are more informed about all of this, I want you in charge of keeping all of this out of the press, the last thing we want is for my brother's privacy to be exposed, especially to Ukraine, though he probably already knows. Can I count on you to do that?"
"Yes sir," the three saluted in unison, Mandara saluted back, then the four exchanged phone numbers so the country could keep them informed and vice versa. Once that was taken care of, Mandara pulled up a chair and sat with his brother, the medics were still making sure that both father and child were healthy, so they would have to wait for a while.
"Trigger," MA muttered after a few minutes, Mandara leaned down to his level and he continued, "I'm scared, for so many reasons, what is this kid going to look like, are they going to remind me of Ukraine, am I going to hate them? It's not their fault, they didn't cause what happened, but I don't want to look at them and despise them their whole lives, it's not like we can give them away."
Mandara pursed his lips at first, but then let out a breath and smiled, "Thunder, I know you, you are going to be a wonderful father, don't you remember those sisters you rescued back in WWII, you took such good care of them until we found their parents, and they were german children. It doesn't matter what your child will look like, or how they got here in the first place, you will love them with all your heart, because you're is made of gold, and everything it touches shines just as brightly as you do."
MA took all of that in, and his eyes quickly regained their ocean-blue glow, he sat up and gave Mandara the biggest hug he could, tears of relief now flowed down his cheeks.
"Thank you, Mandara, you're the best brother I could ever ask for."
"Right back at ya, buddy, and don't ever think that this is a bad thing, sure it's not ideal, but I guarantee you that this is your light in the darkness, and this child, they are your angel sent to help you through hell."
"You're such a dork, being all poetical on me, I love you, Squirt."
"Heh, I love you too, ya big dummy."
