Chapter Two

An all-too-familiar smile crossed the figure's face as he brushed the hair out of his striking green eyes. "You're pretty cute, for an alley cat. How DID you get in here, little one?" He chuckled to himself as he moved towards her. His pale hands scooped her into them, then pulled her to his chest.

"It's really you!" She cried, her eyes widening to the point of looking like saucers. The Undertaker simply laughed as he removed one hand to pet her softly. "Let's get you cleaned up, hm? It seems one of my specimen jars fell and got you covered in this goop. Luckily, there was nothing in that jar. Yet." He said softly as he looked down into her eyes. She simply purred happily as she reached her paws towards his face, doing anything to make sure that he was really here. The handsome retired shinigami was really standing there, holding her in his hands.

He pushed her paws down and away from him gently, laughing as he did so. "What, have we met in a previous life or something? You seem quite affectionate for only meeting me now. How do you feel about water?" He asked, bringing her into what seemed to be a bathroom. It was small, but clean. A bathtub sat in the corner of the room, and a sink stood beside the door. Another door lead to what she assumed was the toilet. Undertaker set her down on the edge of the bathtub, and he watched her out of the corner of his eye when he turned on the water. She sat calmly on the porcelain tub, her tail swaying happily behind her. She continued to purr loudly, trying her best to show her affection for him.

He dipped his hand into the shallow water to make sure it wasn't too hot, or too cold. He turned around and gently pushed her into the water, which she let him do. "You know, normal cats aren't really big fans of water, kitty. Though, you're probably not normal, are you?" He asked her, not expecting an answer. To his surprise, she meowed back to him as she sat in the water. "Are you really talking to me? How silly!" He exclaimed, chuckling softly afterwards. He turned back to her, holding a bottle of soap. "Okay, come on. Stop messing around down there. It's time to get washed up."

He scooped water into his hands and let it run into her fur, the usually soft coat becoming sodden and weighed down with water. She relished the feeling of the disgusting goop practically melting off her fur as he continued to wet it. He soon dripped the soap onto her back, then began rubbing it into the fur. She closed her eyes in bliss as his hands gently rubbed the soap into a thick lather. Warm water, clean fur, and one of the people she cared deeply about right beside her in this confusing time.

It seemed to last forever, though the bath was relatively short. Soon the water had been drained from the tub, and a towel had been wrapped around her small and shivering body. Air seemed to make it's way to her skin like sand would run through someone's fingers. When her fur was finally somewhat dried, the towel was replaced by a somehow warm blanket.

Undertaker sat himself down in a chair at the table and held her in his lap. "You remind me of someone I used to know, kitty. Her name was (Y/N). How long has it been since I last saw her? You might not believe it, but I lived in her world for some time. Apparently the world we live in at this very moment is simply a tv show in her world. It's interesting, is it not?" He mused, a smaller smile coming to his lips again. "A goddess transported us back here, and we haven't seen her since. I guess it was to be assumed, since she belonged in her world and we in ours, but I wish I could see her again. You really look like her, you know? Your fur is the exact same colour as her hair. It might seem strange, as she was quite a bit younger than I, but I think she may have been the first person I ever fell in love with. Since we left her, I haven't laughed. Not once. Maybe you're a gift from the angels, to help me get over her."

Some time ago, she had completely zoned out. When she heard him say love, she snapped to attention. "Wait, (Y/N)? That's me, Undertaker!" She told him, jolting up from her comfortable position on his lap. Her paws rested on his chest, she was face-to-face with him. He chuckled sadly, then pushed her back down. "You're so silly. Maybe I'll keep you."
